Question KingdaKa clone for SFOT in '06 or '07?

I saw a rumor on coaster-net.com that it is possible that SFOT will be taking out the Wildcatter and Splash Down to make room for a KingdaKa clone. I think this would be awesome, but can anyone confirm this to be true?

That so roxors!1111!!! Wildcatter so totally suxor!!11!!!11

Thanks for the laugh coasterfreak, but it's not happening. Ka is still not back open, I HIGHLY doubt that SF will be very interested in purchasing another when the one they have is suXors so much.

I don't know. I do know that they are getting some new coaster by '07. I kinda hope it'd be a B&M flyer or maybe a S&S ThrustAir. Maybe they could open a record breaking ThrustAir. S&S hasn't really had problems w/ their coasters.

^ You're kidding right about S&S not having problems with their ThrustAirs? If not then someone forgot to tell PKD about H:XLC.

SDC's PowderKeg on the other hand is doing rather well, and with the exception of the trains sometimes breaking down half-way through the day, everything is fine. Fun ride too.

I didn't know about the problems w/ their ThrustAir coasters. But a flyer would be nice. Just something new and original. If they made a ThrustAir like PowderKeg, which is very fun, yet made it faster (maybe 90mph) and longer that would be good. SFOT does have Mr. Freeze but I don't see a problem in having 2 launched coasters.

Well, the problem(s) with Hypersonic were sorted out, and they didn't have any problems with Dodonpa. So unlike Intamin, S&S knows how to resolve problems and not get them every single time. Prototypes usually give more problems, but most of the time they're resolved.

What good reason would they have to clone it? Let's think about that for 1 second...

CPs problems with TTD didn't stop them from doing KK so why would it stop them from building another?

But why would they build another?
Their is no point. They should just make a smaller rocket but with inversions.
I really dobut this is true.

HAHA, Let's first wait for them to get acquainted with full safe ongoing operation of Kingda Ka before they acquire another one. They haven't tamed their beast yet!

Six Flags is really unbelievably stupid, and they probably would clone that thing.

Yes, but next year is SFOT's 45th anniversary. So it is possible. And I promise I didn't start this rumor. It's under the June 2005 section of the Rumors & News stuff for coaster-net.com. They could do a ThrustAir, since Dodonpa didn't have any problems and it's newer than HyperSonic and PowderKeg has done pretty good.

SF is putting all 90% of their money into GAdv. They would not take the spotlight off GAdv. They want to make Gadv a vacation spot. This will never happen. What might happen is a smaller KK clone like the one going into Thorpe.

No.

How could anyone on here confirm that? Unless someone on here is in Six Flags management, how would they know? I wouldn't rule out them getting some sort of Intamin hydraulic launch coaster but I strongly doubt them getting a clone or other huge 400ft+ rocket coaster.

Look at almost all the coasters cloned at various SF parks; they're usually relatively small (Batman, Deja Vu, Mr. Freeze, impulse coasters, etc) and they all take relatively small footprints (although S:UF could be seen as an exception) and are also relatively cheap. You don't see them cloning $20m+ coasters every year. In fact, the only giant coaster that has been cloned or a near clone anyway is Titan after Goliath.

I dont think they will make a clone of a 400ft coaster too cuz if they do that why dont they just go higher and break the record and if they have a clone 2 coasters will have the same record and i dont think six flags would do that. If they get a rocket that would be nice but i dont think they will clone kk, i dont think kk is a type of coaster to clone, it is a coaster to break records.

Excuse me? Kanonen is not a clone. It's far from it. In fact, it's not even 1/4 the size of KK. And it has two inversions.

So....it's possible because it will be their....45th anniversary? So because of that, they're going to be getting a clone? Yeah, that makes sense.

^FYI I'm trying to see if it's possible and I pretty much can tell now that it's not going to happen and you've already made trouble in other threads so don't post in this one if you can't keep from making trouble here!

Excuse me, who are you that you think you can tell me where I can and can't post?. You're just mad because I disagreed with you. If you can't take it when someone doesn't agree, you should really learn to grow up. It's not my fault if they don't get a KK clone. Call up Mr. Six and complain about it, don't take out your agression on me because you're upset.

Definitely not happening within the next decade...Here's why:

1) Kingda Ka sucks as it is, why clone it?
2) SFI is broke, how could they possibly afford another 30 million dollar coaster.
3) SFOT doesn't really strike me as a park that should have a record breaker.

So as you can see, there are many reason why the park will most likely never get a coaster the size of KK. I don't think SFI would be that stupid to spend the same money on another coaster like a KK if they can't even keep the one they have open as it is. It just isn't a smart move, and if SFOT ever did get it, I would laugh and hope that SFI goes bankrupt because all these stupid decisions are really hurting the company as a whole, not just the individual parks.

Mr. Freeze is even more of a Kingda Ka lookalike than CHILLER. Why would they built a 2 times larger Mr. Freeze lookalike?

Seriously dude, Six Flags has brought many things to coaster world, nothing would be the same without them. They've done more good than "harm". Also, lots of us only have a Six Flags park within reasonsable distance to our homes and it would REALLY suck if they closed down.

If Kingda Ka sucks, I can't imagine how bad TTD is. Wonder why it got rated so high at themepark magazine and the Golden Tickets?

And If TTD is bad, I bet Xcelerator is a pile of junk metal, and that Thorpe Park coaster is cruel and unusual punishment, but maybe that's allowed in the UK.

What is the point of cloning a coaster that will be up maybe 5% of the time?

So far, Kingda Ka has had as much downtime as TTD. And it doesn't have comp problems, just some physical problems with the actual coaster, easier to fix.

Ok, here is my point of view. KK, whether opened or closed, is good for the park. This year they are having more people talk about their park than EVER before. Even when KK is closed people talk about it and the park. Any publicity is good publicity. When TTD was opened, you would have loved to see a clone at DP or KBF, even with the problems it had.
