MIAdv is such a bland park. It really needs something to give it a kick. A few things they REALLY need is a freefall tower... a path from the skycoaster down to Timbers and a good steel coaster.....

i think they need like 3 coasters in 2 years to boost them up

like first year get a coaster like steel venom and a nice CCI woodie. then next year get a beamer.

I do agree that they need a b &m like all of the other cf parks. But I disagree about the walkway from ripcord to st. I think that would ruin some of the beauty of ww and st. I think also that mia has some of the most potential of all the cf parks. Why isn't this subject talked about more and not any rumors or anything? Beamer??

i am confused greatly by your post. and btw, it necessarily isnt a good thing to have most potential, that means MIA is the farthest behind, and will always be farthest behind. detroit is going there like CF thought they would, that is b/c detroit is one of the poorest places in america, minneapolis/st. paul, KC, cleveland, south cal are more wealthier then detroit area. and the reason CP is doing so well is b/c that is the park CF puts the most money into.

Grand Rapids, however isn't as poor. The other sad thing is that while the average income up here in Michigan isn't half what it is in say SoCal the cost of living is much lower.

And Detroit is closer to Cedar Point than it is to Michigans Adventure. MiA is trying to get business from Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Lansing, Flint and Grand Rapids. All citys with decent population levels and the vast majority in the "middle class". The main reason MiA is failing to grab attention and income levels with the other parks is that it has one major attraction, Shivering Timbers. They lack a solid ride line up. I think I can list the things that MiA needs to do in the next 5 years if they want to see a major attendence increase.

1: Build a path from the back of the park, around wildcat to the area near Shivering Timbers station.
2: Intamin Hyper Coaster
3: Add some shops/stalls to handle food, souvenir and restroom needs (related to the hyper)
4: S&S Combo Tower
5: B&M Invert

And if they can do those things over the next five years (not nessisarily in the order listed) then I'll have a season pass and maybe I'll even go to college up there for a while just to go a few extra times and the beginning/end of the ride season.

They need enough to draw people back. Additionally they're going to need to expand their flat ride collection as they go and if it's anything like a a couple years ago (I'll find out next week) then the landscaping (trees, flowers, etc) could use some improvement too.

And ragan, you're also forgetting that Cedar Fair carefully developed those parks over a period of about 5-6 years before really pushing big attractions on them...

im not forgetting CF takes awhile before they had big stuff, i just could of sworn they bought it 98. that makes me feel a little better as to why they havent added a new coaster in 6 years. your right though, they do need a beamer and hyper. maybe next year in 06, CF will buy 3 coasters?? (WoF, GL & MIA).

Geagua Lake is not getting a B&M in 2006 as they are doing phase II of their waterpark. Also "Dream on Silly Dreamer" about MIA getting a B&M. The park will have: Camp Snoopy, S&S towers, Rapids Ride and maybe a hyper a long time before B&M will do anything (if ever) at this park.

Here's the rundown of what MiA has gotten (or removed) since 98...

98: Shivering Timbers
99: Chaos, Mad Mouse, Frog Hopper, Big Dipper
00: Speed Splashers
01: Chaos removed after accident, Royal Hannerford Circus appears for 1 season only
02: Hydroblaster, Ripcord, Dodgem (from CP), Go-Karts, Jr. Go-Karts, Be-Bop Blvd, Timbertown Railway
03: Timbertown railway tunnel addition
04: Swan Boats (from CP)
05: Funnel of Fear in waterpark

They haven't had a major amusement ride added since 2002, and a coaster added since 1999. I would say it's getting close to when they should add something. I would say it should be a B&M compact floorless, S&S combo tower with the newer tilting seats, or even a B&M or Morgan hyper. Perhaps S&S can do a launched hyper that does more than its TA2Ks do (like Powder Keg).

Chaos was installed in 1995, for the record.

Keep in mind that the park will not have public water and sewer until AFTER the 2006 season begins, and the park has stated they will not be adding any major improvements (read : hypercoaster and accompanying shopping/food, hotel/campground, etc) until they have that. While 2006 is the park's 50th anniversary, I can't say that I'm expecting too much from them. Also remember that the park actually wants to build a hotel and campground/village (stated by General Manager Camille Jourden-Mark in a newspaper article back in November). I can almost see them taking the same path as Worlds of Fun after they get the water and sewer lines, possibly starting in 2007.

I get rumors sent to me because of my website all the time, and the most common one for 2006 seems to be pointing to a new high-capacity thrill ride. This is one department the park is lacking in, and I could see it VERY possible for the park to get a HUSS ride or an S&S tower in the future.

ride6, you'll notice a slight change in landscaping, but not too drastic from last year. Some more trees and flowers and shrubs all over the place.

Also, I might add, there were flags and markers around Be-Bop Blvd on my last trip. Could the theming that has been talked about since 2003 finally get installed? (mock-up gas station and other features other than the billboards) Of course, maybe they're for new trees, which is REALLY needed over in that area (the area closest to Drummer Boy and Winky the Whale).

We were both wrong... Chaos was put in for 1996. That's my bad.

Funny, that's not what the park said. I contacted them a while back for a history of attractions, and they sent me a timeline of their rides/shops/food history that lists Chaos as 1995. Where did you get 1996?

^ if anything needs to be shut down it's your school. They obviously didn't teach you how to write.

Heard another rumor today about the Family Grill being removed. It's a real prime location to expand the waterpark, but could also be home to other things next season. Any thoughts?

^^Why would they shut the place down. That would make no sense. Just becasue they don't have a stellar line up of rides is no reason to shut a place down. Besides, they have on of the best woodies in the world. MiA is just getting warmed up.

As he said "it's a prime location to expand the waterpark." God it is like some of you people can't read entire post before flapping your gums.

I heard that they might be adding a Coasters Drive-In and there is a possible move to put all of the kiddie rides in one area to create a Camp Snoopy. I still think the S&S towers are the most likely choice for 2006, if anything.

See, that's just it, the waterpark is essentially land-locked for expansion, and if they want to expand it then Family Grill will be the next thing to go. It's old, the buildings REALLY need to be replaced, and it's purpose as a meal outlet will probably be replaced in coming years with sit-down restaurants.

And, DHollon, I don't think bigboy was refering to me, I believe he was referring to the post above mine.

Yah, I was referrign to "mr.freezedude's" post. I found that to be a stupid thing to say. I guess I was just too lazy to quote at the time, I just put the two arrow thing (^^) to mean two posts above mine.

I visited the park yesterday and it is obvious that they will build a path running from Ripcord back behind WW to ST(btw St was awesome) there is one of those fences down by St that looks and to me is almost positively temporary. It has construction written all over it!

Also I was getting on Corkscrew and just for fun I asked the ride op wut they were getting in 06. He said "You know the mantis at cedar point?Well, it is sinking into the lake so there gonna move it here" Isnt that one of the funniest things you have have ever heard!!!!!!!!!

^ On the account of that path I noticed it also. Since I hadn't been to MiA since 2001 I was pleasently suprised to find the landscaping much improved. The atmosphere reminded me a good bit of Soak City though thanks to the lack of trees and abondence of concrete.

The path running from Wildcat/Shivering Timbers back to Adventure Falls looks like its for staff only, for now. However the fences blocking it off (as SheikraTTD said) look very temporary. I also noticed some construction a long way back in the field, about even with Shivering Timbers 2nd hill but all the way in the back of the park. Now I'm guessing that it's probably just a water tower or something else related to the city water system but who knows...

Personally i wouldn't say that B&M will never build here; that is unless they're retiring in about 3 years because I see MiA getting one around 2010-2012 or so. Things that will come first will of course be a sit down resturant of some sort, an organized camp snoopy (which hopefully will get either Big Dipper or Zach's Zoomer as "Woodstock Express") because the last thing MiA needs is a Roller Skater.

I see 2006 connecting the front and rear of the park, probably providing a new sit down resturant and a flat or two. Additionally they'll probably be a gift shop to milk the cash cow a bit and a bath room since the nearest would be all the way back at the pizza place back near the scambler and such. This would set up for a new major ride in 2007 or 2008. I'm thinking Intamin hyper because 1- I'm optomistic like that and 2- Cedar Fair likes hypers + Cedar Fair like(d) Intamin = Intamin + Hyper!

Basically the big expantion is 2 years away at the soonest. Could be as far out as 2010 if Cedar Fair doesn't mid attendence numbers staying pretty much where they are for those years.

I say this:

2006ath and camp snoopy with big dipper moved in as Woodstock Express and painted. Also S&S towers and sit down restaurant
2007:Water slide and more stuff on the new path
2008:Intamin Hyper
2009:Water Ride maybe rapids?
2010:B&M
2011:Water Park expansion and more flat rides
2012:CCI Woodie

With all these I think mia could become an awesome park

The fence/path have been like that since 2001, when the "path" was created not only as a faster staff access route but also a route for the animals to be transported to and from their transports to the circuis near Shivering Timbers. The park has stated a few times (once, TimbersFest 2005 comes to mind) that the path won't be expanded until there's something to expand it to.

Of course, a few flat rides, a shop, a food outlet, and a few games could be built out there for less than $15,000,000 and the path could be built. Sure, this is the best outcome for that pathway, but right now the park is really focusing on the water/sewer situation. If that's not dealt with soon, expect 2006 to be another average year with possibly only one new major attraction.

SheikraTTD, you do realize the park already has two amazing CCI woodies, right?

I agree they need a new coaster, preferably steel. It is an ok park but I was not too impressed.

A Beemer would definitely lift MiA up in my book.

Wolverine Wildcat isn't a CCI, it's a Dinn. Zach's Zoomer is the other CCI, and I personally find it a bit surprising for its reputation.

You do realize that company went out business, correct?
Or did you mean Gravity Group who built HADES and will build VOYAGE next year?

I actually found it to be the best woodie at the park. ST gave us (MiG) a very boring trip when we visited the park. I guess I am missing what the big "hype" is about this ride.

^ the ride is very moody. I've had rides where I swear I'll never ride again (yet I've still ridden it 186 times), and I've had rides where I could go for hours (night-ERT at TimbersFest this year).

Suprising enough, Wolveine Wildcat has been improving the past few years, but will never be what it used to be with the old skid-brakes and stuff.

plus, they have enough wooden coasters, not very big, but they still have like 4.
