MIA Being Sold?

I heard this on In The Loop and thought it'd be a cool discussion on here. Is Cedar Fair looking to sell off Michigans Adventure anytime soon? It is their smallest park and I can't really seeing how that park is helping the company at all. I don't know much about the park, but if it is sold, thats one less park Cedar Fair has to keep up on and one more they can concentrate more on (Geauga Lake).

i agree that it wouldnt be a bad move (because its not really helping any), but theyve been trying to fix that place up forever, so I dont think theyd give up on all of the progress theyve already made to the park.

It's not going to happen, because it could someday compete for the Detroit market with Cedar Point. As long as Cedar Fair owns it, they dominate nearly all of the regional market.

Cedar Fair bought the park in 2001. Unlikely that it will be sold I think as FORREST GUMP does I dont see them selling and opening up the market to a competitor. I hope they will do some more improvements to the park and maybe next year they could get a new coaster that would really help the park.

Stop by and take a look at lots of coaster photos, construction and trip reports.

They would close it before they sell it. Yeah its a small park, and its numbers are paltry compared to other CF parks, but they've also made investments and increased attendance and revenue over what it was prior to CF owning it. They aren't losing money on it, either, and in the rule of business, as long as it's generating a steady profit, you do not sell it.

I think it's just something that someone started to stir things up.

Everytime I ride a coaster, it valleys. I've never been on a stalled coaster or had one roll back (except Wicked Twister and what was Superman: Ultimate Escape, which does that by design).
