Valleyfair '06

Ok, well I've been to the park and seen the plans, Valleyfair is getting a double installation Screaming Swing for '06. Each side will have 20 seats, 10 facing each direction, for a total capacity of 40 people. Because of the increased capacity, this will not be an upcharge attraction.

With the addition of this ride, another ride is being removed. The swing will take the place of the Northern Lights which will be permanently removed from the park following maintenence issues it's had in the past couple years.

Obviously, other than what I have just typed, I have no actual proof that I can post to this board so don't bother to ask. All I can point to is my track record of knowing what the park is getting each of the last 3 years or so.

Anyways, it should make a nice addition, though I'm sad to see Northern Lights go.

Also, talk of moving the waterpark has died down but not gone away. So far, there are no concrete plans for the '07 season so anyone that tells you otherwise is making it up.

First they take an awesome upcharge ride from Dorney then they get a bigger no upcharge version of a great ride that Dorney just got. I'm really starting to dislike VF for taking Dorney's awesome upcharge rides or getting bigger versions of them.

This sounds like the one in Kennywood or Thorpe Park. The odd thing is that KBF and DP both got the samll upcharge versions, but the enxt CF park id getting a large capacity one. I think that if there is a ride that can be free, none of them should be upcharge. It's just kindof odd.

I've heard that a large challenge park installation, or at least the "largest of its kind" flat is due for CP next year as well. I immediately thought of the Screaming Swing because they seem to be going into all the CF parks.
I guess there's a little bit of focus there on expanding Challenge Park since most guests never venture out to it, and the last expansion was somewhat of a disaster, so I can kind of see this being a reasonable addition.

HPSTORMRUNNER22, Don't be jealous of Valleyfair. We have 3 inversions in the whole park, and thats a 25 yr. old Arrow. I will trade for some of your coasters any day.

I dont think this will happen. Northern lights is popular so i dont think they will give it up. I havnt seen it down all season ad i have ben there almost 5 times a week! How can you see plans but not have proof. Tell me were you see the plans at VF and i will go take a look. I also have been able to tell what VF is getting the last 3 years too. Drewbi if you are an ACE member i will talk to you about this at coaster crazy if you go.

I guess I should of tried to sound more, uhh, I guess sarcastic is the word. I was just joking with that. I don't really care about what VF is getting. Though I am a little sad Dorney lost Skyscraper. But hey, there are rumours about Dorney getting a Sky Swatter to replace Skyscraper.

Well Topdrag, Drew knew Steel Venom was coming a few weeks before they announced it and he mentrioned Riptide a few days before it was announced also...so I wouldn't doubt Drew too much!

Either way sounds like it will be a great new addition if it does happen...

Well, what I'll say to that is that maintenence is confused about the decision as well. The last two years saw the ride shut down alot and this year, they've finally got it back up and stable again with little issue. Of course, they plan new rides a bit further out than that and when they signed the papers, Northern Lights was a liability.

As far as where to see the plans, well, you can't get there going in the front doors of the park as a park guest is all I'll say. I go there for different reasons and they kindly show me things. I'm not about to violate that favor to steal a piece of proof just to post it on a message board.

Heard there airtime on these things. It doesn't surpised me that Northern Lights is leaving because Holiday World took theirs out at least a few years ago for the same reasons. I think Banshee was a Chance falling star. Does Huss still make the Rainbow ride?

Well im just saying i dont think it will happen. The park is upgrading the park like when riptide was built they remodled the game area. the area by northern light already has been redone so i dont think it will happen. Drewbi i hope to chat to you at coaster crazy. PM me with what you saw at the park and i will take a look.

Wait, 40 seater Screamin Swing? I didn't even know there was one. I think you're thinking about the 32 seater like Thorpe has and Kennywood and Lake Compounce are getting.

Well, I won't be at Coaster Crazy since I'm not an ACE member, nor will I ever be, but that's a different thread.

Second, as far as questions about the 40 seater:
The plans I saw had two seperate rides and 4 towers right next to each other. Each was a 20 seater. I suppose that ups capacity by spreading riders over 2 rides rather than pumping 40 at a time through 1.

wouldnt that be a little big for that area though? anyway when and if they build it i think that will go good next to power tower and get it some of its popularity back. oh and drewbie: if your at liberty to say, how do you always know all of this stuff?

p.s. topdrag: not to insult you or anything but ive been looking at your profile and youve been to CP and your favorite steel coaster is Steel Venom?

He works for a companie that delivers stuff to VF and he's always talking to the mechanics and he told me he was talking to one and he even found out that they would have to build a whole different power grid for SV because they're wouldnt be enough power for the whole park. Hope I'm not spilling the beans for him if he didnt want you to know...

LIMs dont need to use much power though. Why did they need to redo the power grid?
Yes i have been to CP but i put my favorite coaster at VF on it. Raptor is my altime favorite.

LIMs don't use much power!? Are you kidding me. The reason most parks now prefer hydraulic launches over LIM launches is because LIMS do use a lot of power. That's one of the reasons KBF was looking for a new coaster that could go 200 feet in that small of a footprint and not use a lot of power like LIMs do.

well ok now i believe you. But i dont see 2 screamin' swings were northern lights is there isn't enough room there. Enough room for 1 but not 2 like drewbie said.

Misquoted me a bit. I said that their power grid didn't have enough power to run it alone so they were adding additional generators near Steel Venom, exclusivly to power that. You can see them in the large silver "sheds" near the ride entrance.

As far as my connections that let me see this stuff, M1 is close, but I won't clarify anything or tell you anything more. I'd hate for those guys to get in trouble (though I've never been asked to sign anything saying I wouldn't share the info). I will say that before my introduce yourself thread was closed, you could find out all you ever wanted about me in there. I don't even know if it still exists.

Well Drewbie, PM me what company you work for i might know someone that woorks with them to. The generators near Steel Venom are outside you can see them i know that the TLC or the computer is inside the shed along with all the stuff that makes the LIMs work.
