Honestly it looked like the supports for a screaming swing to me. But the fact that they have it hidden under a tarp is promising. If it’s just a screaming swing which everyone suspects it will be then I wouldn’t think they would cover it up.

i am a newbie to this site but i have been part of the coaster world for a long time now .anyways. i have been keeping up with cedar point's 2006 "attraction" and i think it is going to be either a screaming swing or A WATER COASTER. i think that when Tony and Tyler of the Blog had the licence plate that read "108W". i think that it is a 108 foot water coaster. it will also be 2,500 feet long and will consist of 750 feet of track on water. it will be blue, and called the Erie Bandit. oh and don't quote me on that.

You do have a very good idea, but I think the license plate doesn't deal with the coaster like tony and tyler said.

I honestly could see a B&M floorless for 2006 then something HUGE for 2007. It's not uncommon for coasters to come right after another (Wicked Twister and TTD.) And we all know CP could use more inversions...

BTW, if this ended up being a swing, you know damn right that Cedar Point would have made their announcement first seeing how they are the most important park in the chain. For some reason I have this idea that Geauga Lake will end up getting the other 40 seat Screamin Swing, we'll just have to wait till the end of all the Halloween events to see what's really going on. Oh, and if this turns out to be a coaster, who said that CP doesn't care about those records anymore? I think SFMM will be pretty disappointed if CP got a new coaster this year and next year before Kinzel retires. I wouldn't put it past them to install 2 coasters in two years since they have done it before.

Today I was playing in the park and happened to glance at the tarp from a distance, Magnum's lift hill to be exact, and I just got to say I'm let down. Hopefully its just my eyes playing tricks on me but it seems quite obvious what it is.

How can you even tell by the picture, the only thing you can is that it's rectangular and has bolt holes. It looks rather small for being a Swing as well seeing how the legs for these swings are massive. Cid, if it's so obvious than what did it look like it was? It could probably end up being a upcharge Screamin Swing for Challenge Park for all we know. |

this link is what i am talking about. you could tell it is the top piece of a screaming swing ride. http://www.thepointol.com/cgi-bin/sc...ingCon0001.JPG looks similar to valleyfair's xtreme swing. http://www.valleyfair.com/insidethep...tremeswing.cfm unless cedar point is messing with us and brought valleyfair's piece for a couple days.

So CP has a screamin' swing... Oh boy!... Yeah from looking at the tarp photos you can see the 3 holes.... So it must be a swing... Wow if itsa the 40 seat one CP will take an hour to load it... After going on the Dorney one 3 times.... DP added an un-needed belt clip from the lapbar to the seat... Just to load 8 seats (6-5 riderless ones...) took them a god 5mins..... think of them 40 times..... YAT SLOW LOADS!!!!! ![]() ![]() :!!! |

What are you annoyed about? It's a commercial, and they're intentionally messing with you to create hype.

Yeah it's quite obvious from those pictures that this is definitely the top piece of the second 40 seat Screamin Swing. I still don't understand why CP would already have their pieces starting to arrive but Kennywood already has footers poured and only has the air tanks on site. It should be interesting to see what this one looks like, hopefully it won't be receiving the same name or paint job as the one at Valleyfair.

It is funny, people see 3 circles covered in tarp, and automatically have in their minds that it will be a Screaming Swing. It is like saying, woah look at those pieces of long metal, they are supports for a B&M! They wouldn't start construction on a flat this early, or bring in parts this early. They also wouldn't start all this hype for just a flat.....there will be a coaster coming, whether it is in 2006 or 2007, with or without a flat (maybe you people didn't think of that yet).

I don't see how that piece could be part of a coaster... it looks exactly like the top of the swing at Valley Fair.... identical

I never said it was, I said that no one knows what it is, as it is covered in tarp. Even if it is, that doesn't rule out no coaster.

^ You can see the shape of what is under the tarp though and the shape resembles the top of the large versions of the Screamin Swing. Theres no denying that piece is definitely for a Swing, and it's not a smaller version for Challenge Park. People mentioned there are other markers throughout the park, maybe they are getting another flat and/or coaster for next season. But I agree with who said above that it's kinda early to start building a flat ride, yet Kennywood is almost done with assembling their swing. Also, if CP has any other plans this offseason they'd probably want to get this ride built first. I just think it's strange that they already are receiving parts on site when they dont even have footers let alone holes, yet Kennywood's footers are done and all they have on site is air tanks. |

As for something "slipping past them," as they said on the blog... At first I thought it was part of the dramatix, but the more I thought about it, I realize things. I know they're silvertags in Marketing, but lower-level STs. Higher-up STs may keep something from them, just to give them something to talk about. Hm-m, I'm starting to second-guess myself here.Tony and Tyler, if ya'll are reading . . . ya'll are awesome! And Tyler, YES, we have computers in Georgia. Pffha!

It's a swing and the only good that i can see come of this is that it will hopefully defer some of the visitors from the nearby coasters.

I'm still a bit suprised that (as probably has been mentioned before) they would get a screamin' swing right after maXair. They're so similar, although the swing doesn't rotate, which could be a big + for some people. Plus its a new ride which, even if it doesn't draw more guets, I would hope it 'redirects' them and puts more back in that area of the park.

Yeah.... that's massively gay if they build a swing right after Maxair.... massively.

My sources (from inside the park) are tellin' me the Swing isn't the only project goin' on. Chances are the markers near WWL and that area of the park are for the larger project. It's near confirmed, as far as I'm concerned... WWL will not be there next season, and what goes in its place is most likely to be intended for the 2006 season. I definitely agree with the previous comment about CP not letting SFMM have the record this year. That's why I'm leaning toward the idea of 2 coasters in 2 years (not necessarily record-breakers). Please, whoever's thinking about it ... don't say this, "Well, CP let GAdv take the tallest/fastest record, blablabla!" There were 2 frickin' seasons between those additions, and records will be broken. So don't bother. The number of coasters in a park is too big of a record for CP to give up, IMO. I'm frankly sick of the whole record-breaking business, even though it ensures more and better rides every year. Just make a good ride that's fun, that doesn't get old too quickly. Announcement(s) (is/are) in a week or so. Really interested in what (it is / they are).

Does S&S owe CP anything from Invertigo or was it taken care of with Power Tower? It would seem odd to put in a swing after Maxair. And there only seems to be one truckload of whatever it is. And it really doesn't seem big enough for the top of the swing - my observation after looking at the Valleyfair site. Did Demon Drop get sold yet? The swing would fit there. As far as the other markers - remember that it could take more than a year to construct a big "whatever it is" therefore the need to start things now for 2007. But really - at this point that blue-tarped item could be some new fangled port-o-potties. I'll stick to my guess of hot tubs! |

S&S may owe Cedar Point something for VertiGo. It couldn't have been taken care of with Power Tower since VertiGo collapsed in 2002 and Power Tower was built for the 1998 season. So this could very well be why Cedar Point is going with S&S for this ride.

I also have a strange feeling that CP will be adding something else along with the Swing in 2006. People said they have spotted markers near WWL and all in the Frontier Town area, and then the whole Demon drop thing which is nowhere near the area. It's been awhile since CP has put two major coasters in back to back years (2000/2001 with MF and WT), and I don't think I would put it past CP to put in a coaster or something else for that matter along with the swing. Valleyfair announced that the swing only cost in the ballpark of 6 million dollars, and CP only spent 10 million on maXair last season. The money has just been accumulating more and more since 2003, so I don't think CP would pass up the chance to stop SFMM from getting the record, unless of course the coaster going in next season is really large and really expensive.
