Cedar Fair to purchase Magic Mountain?

The Los Angles Times believes that Cedar Fair may be interested in purchasing Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. A person familiar with the situation has said that purchasing the park would allow for more marking opportunities in Southern California.

Or simply eleminate local competition. Look at Cedar Fair's purchase of Geauga Lake from Six Flags.

No damn way! Isn't that Six Flags' baby? That's pretty much their money maker (maybe SFGAdv is up there as well). Well, I'm more a fan of Cedar Fair than Six Flags so if this is true I condone it. I'm still having a hard time digesting it, though.

From what I've heard SFGAdv and SFOT are the big money makers. It would be pretty interesting to see what would happen if they bought the place with all of the name changes and how they'd have to remove the Superman/Batman themes.

^That makes sense. More rides = more maintenance money. Especially with SFMM's numerous "prototype" rides (S:TE, X, Deja Vu).

SFoG got the first Deja, though, didn't it?
EDIT: Whoops, never mind, it was SFMM.

^Well, SFOG, SFMM, and SFGAm all got them at about the same time.

I guess CF just wanted more parks in California. They have a few waterparks plus Knotts but that just wasn't doing it for them. Wil this be their 13th park?

First, I doubt it will happen. I wouldn't call the purchase of GL a big success so far. I dontknow if Cedar Fair would want to take on the additional risk of adding an even bigger park.

Well, SF recently said that SFGAd and SFGAm made 25% of their profit. With the addition of SFGAm's waterpark, their attendance for this year is estimated to be about 3 million. That would make it their second or third most attended park. I read something about park attendance and only SFGAd in the SF chain had attendance over 3 millions last year or the one before.

Themes???

You remove the police car from Batman and a couple signs. That's how.

In ways, it would be nice if it did happen. But seriously, unless CF wants to monopolize SoCal, I don't think it stands a chance against DLR. Note to Cedar Fair, it ain't Northern Ohio... But, CF would own both thrillseekers paradises (then again, SFMM is the ghettofied version of CP).

I don't see it happening...

I don't stand for that either. I will not discount SFMM to such a description.

Cedar Fair will not purchase SFMM due to the fact the whole chain is for sale. If Cedar Fair purchased SFMM they would purchase all 30 parks. That would leave Cedar Fair as the big player and very deep in debt unless they sold the bigger parks to pay for the purchase.

I, personally, don't see that happening. Don't quote me as an imbecile if it happens, though. Ha!

Having said that, SF does need to sell the smaller, neglected parks, for a couple of reasons. (1) Even though SF doesn't care about this one, some of those parks really have potential to be great parks, if the right people were in control of business decisions, etc. (2) SF really needs to focus on managing fewer parks WELL. Selling SFMM would be a step toward that, but not the best decision or a good one at all, in my opinion.

Although we all know Cedar Fair could probably do wonders to the park and return it to it's old glory, I just don't see it happening...At least not anytime soon. I do agree though that CF could really clean up the park, possibly even removing all the rides that need to be removed like Flashback and adding lots and lots of benches and trash cans. But I guess if any new management could do that, it would be good. The parks needs a lot of work and the current Six Flags owners aren't going to deliver it. It's just a matter of time, and hopefully within a few years the park will have a much better reputation.

And I do agree that SFMM is the "ghettoized" CP...SFMM has around the same number of rides as CP, but CP is a much better park overall in the cleanliness department.

SFGadv is now Six Flags Baby. They seem to be neglecting SFMM lately except fo the new coaster this year.

I highly doubt that sale would ever happen.

I couldn't agree with you more. I found SFMM's staff to be extremely rude and slow. They just had no emotion. They really need to do something about the park. It does rank high in the rides department though!

Yea^ your right magnum man. Anyways, Cedar Fair did it to Six Flages Worlds of Adventure why cant they do it to SFMM? Its a rumor anyone can get the info to. I can see it happening since SF has had some problems this year and last year and cedar fair is doing realy well. I hope they do it to and make some chages since whe i was there they are realy bad there are teenages smooking pot around the park and the sucurity gards are not doing anything about it and the staff are rude to.

Oh, suuuuuure CF would do wonder.....meaning they'd remove all the trees and add over 3,000 new trash cans. Gotcha. Rename Golaith Dominator, X would be Thunderhawk, Golaith Jr could be Millennium Force SFMM is fine under SZF manangement, as long as they get the kind fo 3-4 year cleanup GADV is getting.

Although that would be nice, it's not that easy. This is not RCT where adding benches and trashcans makes the park alot better. Ecspecially in place of Flashback.

What???

I stopped trying to understand it after I read and noticed "u" and "i i" and a total lack of punctuation and capitalization.

I never said anything about spelling, did I? And we were never talking about spelling bees. Or did you mean to say "Since when was this a spelling bee? We're talking about...."

The point I'm making is this, punctuation breaks up what you're saying. It lets people know when one thought ends and another begins. You're writing it, so it makes sense to you. To others, we don't understand it. You could notice how it would be possible to misinterpret the first part of your post because you neglected to put a question mark at the end of your question. How is someone supposed to know when your question has ended otherwise and your next sentence is beginning.

I've never cared about what people thought about me or what I had to say. I always have cared though that they could at least understand what I was trying to get across. You should too if you're going to post messages. Because if no one can understand what you're saying, you're just wasting your time. I'm not insulting you, just offering a little constructive critisism

Constructive critisism is in a private message.

An insault is in the public forum.

Insault? Buddy, you're taking this far too seriously. No matter if your a newbie or have been here for a few years, you should still know how to make a proper post that uses periods or exclamation marks to separate your thoughts. Making your posts one long sentence looks sloppy and nobody can read this. But why am I telling you this? TN staff, including Steven, have made it clear that you should make your posts readable by not using internet slang and using punctuation. We're not insaulting the guy, we're telling him about the rules.
