Question Hersheypark 2008?

There's a note in Travel Tips about markings for 2008 construction. I had heard rumors this past Christmas, do we have any idea whats going on yet?

I think they are just expanding the boardwalk.

Do they have space to expand the boardwalk.

While I was there on Thursday, I didn't see much except for a few colored markings in front of the Playdome arcade in Pioneer Frontier. The Frontier Shoot-Out waterslides seem to be on the way out with the new Boardwalk and I've heard the Wild Mouse may be moved there and a Boardwalk expansion may occur on the former site of the Wild Mouse. I've also heard several flats may be added for 2008 or possibly a new coaster (Gerstlauer family, perhaps?)

Go to www.screamscape.com and go to the Hersheypark page. It lists several rumors for 2008 that you can see.

If anything is to happen for 2008 it's going to be something that's not going to make me move. I agree it'll probably be a Boardwalk expansion.

They say it's possible the announcement's coming before the end of this week. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

*Let's hope Canyon River Rapids doesn't go*

A park without a river rapids would be lame unless it's getting replaced/upgraded.

I'm hoping they don't get rid of it; its replacement better be good.

I heard that some info was coming out really soon as well....I don't think that anything's going on with playdome as it's too close to gate 7 (employee gate).

I could see CP getting rid of an old Arrow flume to get Maverick but HP canning a River Rapids ride? It can't be as bad as Blizzard River @ SFNE.

My bf works in rides at HP and he said he hasn't heard anything specific yet, but the rumors include a couple different things. He doesn't think they'd put in anything too big b/c they did the Boardwalk last year and they never do two big things in a row. He's a coaster nut too, so he tries to get out whatever he can about the new stuff.

I don't think they can ever get rid of CRR, that's like an iconic ride. Maybe update it again?

Check out Hershey's webpage. It says "What's better than a perfect ten?" and then when you click on the text, it takes you to an all-black page saying, "10.02.07 Truth Revealed." The first statement may very well indicate a new coaster, as they have ten right now and one more would make eleven. On Screamscape, it says that the ten might have something to do with inversion count. More than ten inversions? You never know. Look for the announcement on October 2.

Only 45 days to go.

I think they will "finally" stop counting Roller Soaker as a coaster (I consider it a water ride) and build another dry coaster bringing their count to ten dry coasters....hence the reference to "the perfect ten."

It's gonna be a Intamin 10 inversion coaster clone.

I'm sure they're referring to the Bruce Springsteen album being released that day but what do I know

Yet another reason to look forward to the first Tuesday in October.

I hope it's not a ten inversions clone. I hope it's not even an Intamin. Unless it's wooden. Who knows, maybe something unusual and unexpected, like a 12 inversion Maurer coaster.

I dont know if theyre talking about a coaster or not. "Perfect 10" I think describes an addition to the Boardwalk. Maybe a wave pool or something.

The Boardwalk of course references to the local boardwalks like Ocean City, MD, Atlantic City, NJ, Rehobeth Beach, DE. There are postcard signs with those names of towns all over the entrance near Rollersoaker and the River Rapids. A "Perfect 10" could be a reference to nice looking ladies who used to compete in Atlantic City for the title of Miss America. Of course it's probably a reference to a water slide set of some sort.

It would just be sad if it was a 10 inversion clone. Even the Chinese beat us to that chase with that clone at a new park there. At least it wouldn't be a fraudelent Chinese rip off of an Intamin coaster. That 10 inversion in China is legit-Intamin; I know.

Well considering the park has ten coasters right now, I have a feeling this is going to be a new coaster of some kind. The teaser said "What's better than a perfect ten?", well add another coaster and you have 11. But I'll wait for an official announcement before I jump to any conclusions. I just hope its something great considering I will definitely be going to the park next year

I thought the park made up for the lack of a hyper with the rest of its collection. I was quite satisfied with the lineup that they really didn't need a new coaster but I'm an enthusiast so "surprise me" Hershey.

Here's a thought:

"What's better than a perfect ten?" Maybe it could be a large addition to the Boardwalk or some other large investment. Hence, better than ten coasters. I don't know how realistic that could be (being better than ten coasters? Yeah, right!), just spitting out ideas.

You guys now that Great Bear is named after it's 7 elements so maybe this coaster has 10 elements. Loop, camelback, Cobra Roll, s curve, Sea Serpent, helixes, interlocking corkscrews, and Zero G, . ( It would be a floorless ).

I seriously can't imagine that it's a huge addition to the Boardwalk.....it would have to be only one attraction if it was boardwalk related. For those of you who went to hp last year, you might remember that the fence went up in midway starting in July....can't be enough time to build 5 more water rides! I work at the park... I'll nose around.

Seriously, where would they put more boardwalk stuff? I'm still surprised it fits in where it is now, considering the space they are working with. My boyfriend works in rides and he said he heard they were taking out the water slides there (the old ones) but that they weren't going to do anything super crazy, since it's still a family park. Maybe add a funhouse type 'ride' like they have down at some of the beaches?

Perfect ten could be reffing a few things, like you guys said, the current ten coasters, hangin' ten and the boardwalk, but maybe it's just to throw people off...maybe they're saying something about 2010, you know...like the park will be 'perfect' by 2010? It sounds stupid, but who knows...

OK, so yesterday my bf was working a double and he was taking a break and walking through one of the catering areas and saw a bunch of suits standing around talking and looking around. We all see these guys around the park a lot, but Chris said they were with some other guys he's never seen before, and these guys weren't in suits. Well, one of his friends from maintenance was working near them, so Chris went over to talk to him and he overheard some of the conversation. There was something about a website and working together to create a great interactive version of something. He said it was definitely something to do with the new attraction (yeah, a few days ago he's like "no way they are putting something in" and now he's all about finding out what they are doing), and he noticed the guys not in suits were all wearing shirts with "Nantimi" on them. SO he called me and I went online to see what I could find and check this out...it's totally about the new ride or whatever they are doing...

http://nantimi.com/

I don't know if you can click on that or if you have to cut and paste, but check out the 'major deal' thing. It totally fits with what Chris overheard. It's a freaking mess here right now, been raining for the past two days, thank god I'm not working today, but Chris is so he's going to talk to some guys and see if he can find anything else out.

On the nantimi website, it says the project for next year will cost about $12.1 million! I wonder...

OMG! So I was just on the nantimi website again and I noticed the "username" had hershey typed in it, so I clicked "login" to see what happend and there are these logos for a new ride there!! It's totally boardwalk themed, but it's hard to tell much from there. I can't believe I can in to it like that, can anyone else? And this other coaster site I was reading yesterday had all kinds of information on some kind of coaster, but then this guy said he was wrong and that it looked like they were moving Mouse to Chute-Out and putting something where Mouse is. SO weird!
