I didn't go. I'm still not an ACER. In little New Jersey Wildwood is still about a 100 miles for me. It better be big to draw me out from hiding. I'm so drawn to the SFGADV/DP/HP circle. A Boardwalk Bullet like coaster wooden coaster would win me. : ) Toro, J2/Tsunami, Great White, Rolling Thunder, Jack Rabbit(SBNO). We can still fill the coffers.

Well...things are looking good. Screamscape is reporting that Gravity Group had a few representatives out on the piers last week chatting with the President and VP. Anything, and I do mean anything, from GG would be an AWESOME addition to MP.

Earlier in the week Screamscape had said Premier and GCI. I would definately prefer a GG woodie over the other two.

The new wooden coaster i think will be going on the surfside pier. It makes the most sense because they are removing the seaport mini golf and the offices around it. clearing those out will be a great spot for a station of a roller coaster. also next to the surfside pier is the old Dino beach pier which has a lot of real estate for expansion. and in my opinion a wooden coaster would be ideal just because the track is easy to maintain and most likley they would use PTC trains so that parts are interchangeable keeping maintenance costs down.

If they are building a new coaster, I surely HOPE they are not leaning toward a Premier ride. Their track record precedes them. I would love to see a Gravity Group or Intamin prefab on the boardwalk though. Would definitely influence me to go there more often.

GCI would be pretty good. Anything that isn't already in Jersey would be appreciated. Remember, Gravity Group said they only build at family parks, and wildwood is pretty far from that if you ask me.

I'd actually prefer them to get a GCI. Gravity Group and CCI (building of Great White) are essentially the same company and design the same type of coasters. If GCI was to build a coaster, it would be a much more twister type layout as opposed to the out and back style which the Great White already is. I'd rather them get a coaster that is unlike anything they have at the park right now as opposed to something very similar to a coaster they already have. But they're both great choices in the end.

In New Jersey there are families and people who year after year have at least a week at the shore. I live on the west coast of it on the river side of the state so I rather just day trip it. I spend my vacation days off in the rest of the country fostering this hobby among seeing landmarks. Wildwood is a family destination as well as Long Beach Island. People could go on and on about what shore is more family friendly or less but the New Jersey tradition lives on year after year. I am up for anything that ups the woodie count in New Jersey.

My ACE buddy gave me a copy of the recent newsletter. The updated GCI layout looks really sweet. The coaster would go straight out over a games section, then out to the beach in a twister section that winds up on the neighboring Hunt's Pier before returning. It looked like what I'd envisioned El Toro if it was a GCI edition. This would really bolster the already growing bold New Jersey woodie collection. There would El Toro, this Morey's coaster, Great White, J2/Tsunami, and Rolling Thunder. Nice.

A "NorthEast Coaster" site has pics of the proposed layout. Recently it was mentioned on Screamscape. It looks like it will go under the pier. Perhaps they could say "Under the boardwalk." Does this under pier section make it susceptible to sea storm damage like from a Nor'Easter? I know the beach in Wildwood is very wide. I guess the piers and boardwalks serve as a seawall besides the obvious atttraction it is.

going under the pier will be no problem it wouldn't be their first coaster to go under the pier. the Great white was the first to go under the pier.

| http://www.screamscape.com/html/morey_s_piers.htm There are some of the renderings. It looks as if it actually goes under the beach, not the pier.

it does go under the pier and then it bridges the two piers by going over the beach.

I knew Great White went under the pier but the duration of this new model really gives it some more time under the pier and at a faster speed. I really would not consider this ride to go any deeper than going under the pier. There should be some pumps in that track section. I'd like to see where the footers would be placed for the section bridging the piers. I guess the drawings portray footers in the sand not a bridge structure.

I took a pic of the same presentation at Eastcoaster I tried to put in where the piers are at (the piers are yellow in the Drawing) Ocean to the right and boardwalk to the left see actual photos I'm sure if they decide to take it under the pier they would build a concrete tunnel with some pumps in it like The Voyage has. Also this are of the beach is try unless they get Yes Norester I think the Design is awesome and hope Moreys announce it at this years Coasten by the Ocean in July Since they want this coaster built by the latest 2010 or sooner ![]() They would take out the slide thats been there for over 30 years \/ ![]() ![]() Looking from the Boardwalk at Hunts (with the skyride) and Moreys with the slide as noted. the slide will come out and from this vantage point after the coaster is in you would see the Massive Lift and Turnaround (check this site in 2 years) \/ Last edited by pcman; 02-07-2008 at 12:06 AM. |

The lift will be off pier? I'm just trying to get the connection of the actual map and drawing. I do understand the yellow is pier.

i kind of dont like the layout of the new coaster i would of loved to see it twist over and around the maintenance shops on that pier so maybe in the future the pier could be brought back to life with tons of successful attractions. As i see it having the coaster at the front of the pier next to the boardwalk kind of just closes off the pier.

Entertaining angels I see. Does the return run before the brakes that re-emerges from under the pier lie directly under the lift hill like on Dominator? From the renderings it looks so and would explain a gap in the support structure I'm making out. It looks like the return track will have supports over it like a steel coaster that will support beams up above that will carry and support the rest of the wooden coaster structure lying above it.

I looked at the model of the coaster today. The jumping from pier to pier will be more amazing than I thought.

You can see the Golden Nugget on hunts pier sadly it will come down. But Knobels has bought the track and trains and will reproduce the ride with a Coal mine theme maybe 2010 or 2011 You can also checkout updates to the Moreys coaster at Eastcoaster 2009 next week. Moreys pr and operations manager will be there to show us all the progress. I already got my room booked for Coasten by the Ocean what bridge design do you like ? \/ ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by pcman; 01-31-2009 at 07:03 PM. |

The second bridge is what I saw on the model. That is definitely a mix of old and new that surprised me.

The 3rd one looks nostalgic if they could add something more to it. or if they could put Morays Piers on the cantilever one. If I owned the ride/piers I would want my name it it since it will be photographed many times. |

I heard the words cable stay with the Morey CEO describing the model at the event. The cable stay bridge is quite shocking and brings the innovation with the thoughts of old. With Ravine Flyer II and its bridge magic I hope the cable stay bridge is used. With the odd lift hill looking mostly hollow with steel beams sitting underneath the little wood needed for the incline it brings a lot of attention to the mass of wood need for the first drop into a tunnel. The current wood model on display has even less wood under the lift chain.

It kind of reminds me of Hades in a way. Just a lot bigger. Probably because of its main, 2 path tunnel. This is really a big step up for the piers. It just keeps boosting NJ's popularity and gives me more reasons to visit NJ sometime soon. It'll be a great woodie when it's done. I'm already seeing it being in top 5 of next year.
