| Future of Cedar Point's "famous" rides...
Now I've heard this from one of my friends, and I find this really hard to believe myself, but after all this is a rumor thread, and I figure I'd let you all decide for yourself. Apparently after this season, TTD, Demon Drop, Disaster Transport, and Kiddie Kingdom will be removed. The costumed characters will switch from Peanuts to Nickelodeon. The only reason for the TTD removal is apparently Kingda Ka is coming down, so there is no reason to be in competition...

^^Are people around Cleveland that gullible? Tat may sound harsh, but nothing like that is going to happen. However, Demon Drop, last I heard, is still on sale to anyone that wants it.

Now I've heard of rumors and I've heard of gossip, but this is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too far fetched for ANYONE to actually believe. There is no way in the world ANY amusement park would take down $50 million worth of roller coasters that are not even a combined 10 years old. TTD and Kingda Ka are two of the most popular roller coasters on the face of this Earth. There is no way they are coming down anytime soon. Not to mention both are running a lot more regularly than they used to, so it's apparent some of the kinks have been taken out. I would like to believe that folks are not THAT gullible in Ohio.

^ Ahh yes, my favorite steel coaster: Magnum XL-197. Actually, if there's any CF park you've been wanting to visit, you'd better go in the next couple of years. According to the Dippin' Dots guy (And they ALWAYS have the good information first) When Kinzel retires, he's going to donate all of the CF parks to an environmental group who plan to turn them into preserves for endangered plant and animal species.

I think You've been miss informed. Do you really think they would remove those Multi-millon dollar rides all in one season? Really, and they never got the Nickelodeon deal so I know that those characters will not be moving to the Point. I think your friend was having some kind of bad, warped dream.

If they took down TTD I would die. I still need to get on it.

Please explain to me why CF would do this. It would make absolutely no sense at all. Even if KK was taken down, which won't happen either, CF would not take down TTD. They would then have the worlds tallest and fastest again. On behalf of all sensible people, please tell your friend to stop reading Wikipedia.

^ You win the thread. Disaster Transport isn't famous, by the way. It's infamous for being terrible. I would imagine Kingda Ka and TTD will both make it to the 10+ year mark.

In the future please site your source. It adds much needed creditability to your post. Or if it doesn't the rest of us will know who to slap for blastphemy.

I, like many others, can see why and how DT and the whole Kiddy Kingdom, along with DD coming down, but Top Thrill? One of the most popular rides in the world? That would be the equivalent of Kinzel shooting himself in the foot...twice. And then someone stabbing him in the back. There's no sense to it. And why would Six Flags take down KK when they created an entire area of the park FOR it. That makes no sense. Like I said, its possilbe that the whole front of the park could be revamped, which I would like a lot. But for TTD to come down would be a little far-fetched.

^haha. I've been registered about a year and still don't know what MCBR means, haha. Are you using the "my 'friend' has a problem" excuse. Seriously, where did you hear this? Is it made up? Quote:

Also, if they were removing these rides they would tell the public. Just like their log flume, they informed the public around a season early so they can get their last ride. I doubt they would just remove the second tallest and fastest coaster in the world without telling the public. The last thing, why are we having this discussion? It isn't happening. Kingda Ka is not coming down. I would also like to know where you heard this from, but as of now I find all all this to be false until a source is cited. I could see, though, Demon Drop coming down, since it is up for sale (last I checked anyway)

Sounds like the typical employee rumors I heard working at Cedar Point. It could be anyone (foods aka the "Dippin Dots" guy, a sweep, or a naive ride host). Besides, we would be hearing about it from Cedar Fair if it were true, and I know employees aren't supposed to even talk about changes to the park, especially on here. When I worked there, the biggest rumor was S&S making a 400 foot coaster that was going to also be the world's longest. I also heard of a kiddie wooden coaster going in. A lot of it is bull. Though, I was correct on the layout, height, and speed well before it was announced... I just didn't talk about it to anyone. As far as guests were concerned, it was a coaster-themed rotating McDonalds. Demon Drop, on the other hand, has been on the market for almost 2 years now (this was confirmed through a ride broker website). It's not whether or not it'll come down, but when.

Back off of the Dippin' Dots guy- he's the theme park ORACLE! If we could just get him as a news editor...

I've actually seen the rumor about Kingda Ka coming down after this year. So I'll vouch for that at least being a discussed rumor. No clue about the Cedar Point stuff though.

And while they're at it, I've heard rumors that Steel Dragon 2000 is being removed from it's park in Japan. I guess that means there's no reason for Millennium Force anymore either. It'll be any day now that's it's removed. Seriously now, can we have some standards for the rumors thread? It's kind of sad to have threads just filled with garbage. Is there really a point in someone posting anyhing that enters their head and calling it a rumor they've heard? An appropriate rumor of something would be if they've maybe seen some land clearing in the park or some very early construction possibly. That being said, can we get a padlock here?

This thread is starting to remind me of the threads I would read on ACN. That is why I have not been to that site in over two years.

Yeah, it's ridiculous enough. Without any substance to the rumor, it's time for it to go.
