^At least it could have been something with some real elements to it like CHILLER?

Adding a Boomerang to Carowinds would be like adding a Boomerang to Dorney Park. I'd say "NOOOOO!!!!" to that as well.

Man nobody likes boomerangs. Sad thing is it would be the tallest coaster in the park.

I like boomerangs, the two I've been on (including Head Spin) I thought were pretty sweet... The capacity is horrible, though.

In any case, good thing I got my last ride on it back in October. I have to say, in the back seat it wasn't that bad... At least not as awful and rough as the rest of the train. You could enjoy the launch and vertical hill and not feel like you were going to die from getting beat up throughout. I won't miss it though. I skipped it on most days because of its awful capacity. I will still always remember when it opened, standing in line alllll morning and early afternoon waiting for them to get it operating. That was easily the most coaster enthusiasts I've ever seen in a line. Back then when the trains looked nice and didnt completely cover your head leaving no view anywherebut the front, it was a pretty neat little ride even though it was broken half the time. The last 3 years have been awful, though. Just shows how much of a crap shoot prototypes can be I guess. The ride's reliability got better but the actual ride experience went to hell.

GL's Boomerang was 116ft tall. Dominator is 157ft tall, Volcano is 155ft, and Anaconda is 128' with a 144' drop. The boomerang would be the fourth tallest coaster in the park.

Head Spin wasn't that bad, but it's a pointless coaster.

Unlike the Deja Vus or Invertigos where you feel like it actually does something.

If we're talking about buying used Vekomas, buy Deja Vu!

Deja Vu was awesome at SFOG. If Carowinds would buy it, I could ride it more than once.

Yeah and considering how well they did with Borg running 2 trains and all, maybe they could run two on Vu!

But I digress.

It won't happen though. If it was, they would have announced it already...unless they plan to put it in the boneyard for a year at Carowinds.

True. Unless SFOG can't sell theirs and it sits in their Boneyard for a year and then Carowinds decides to buy it but not likely. I would rather have something new and bigger.

I was just about to mention that it seemed to be heading in that direction.

I wonder if anyone is even intrested in XLC. I would think it would have been eaten up by now.

Ok I'll finally speak up, and take this one alone! I hate to see XLC go, I loved the ride. Although it was a bit rough, but no rougher than Hurler or Grizzley or Borg at Carowinds. Yes it was a short ride, but the launch-there is no other launch like XLC's-it was the best. I will truly miss it. The only complaint I had with it was the horrible capacity, other than that I will save a special place in my heart just for Hypersonic XLC!!!

I agree. Everyone here hates it but i always thought it was an awesome ride and like you said it was a bit rough but nothing compared to half the wooden coasters in the US.

I just hope PKD decide to keep it up until it sells. I would liek to ride one more time.

I've never been that much of a fan of it. The launch was rather painful for me, I know I'm built bigger than most people so that might have had a lot to do with it.

I like Dragsters launch a lot more. XLCs just takes your breathe away (in a bad way).

I guess it will also always be associated with 9/11 for me. We went to KD the weekend after 9/11 happened. That's one coaster trip I'll never forget (it had been planned for months in advance).

I would keep it up to get a little more use out of it.

That's not gonna happen as the park is expecting to begin demolition of the ride within the next couple of weeks so it will not be standing when the park opens this year.

I'm glad that it's finally gone as removing it clears the way for bigger, and hopefully better things in that general area of the park.

That would work for Carowinds or atleast the bigger part. KD already has coasters taller than the Boomerang.

Yeah, I'm wondering about this as well. I hope those rumors are false.

Id rather have hypersonic that a boomerang clone, even with all the problems hypersonic had.

Thats why this is a big deal, they are officially taking it down.

http://www.coaster-net.com/videos.php

^ check out that video if you want to get really really sad about Hypersonic being gone.

I think everyone regionally has their own intense coaster they've lost this past off season and would feel a song tug at their feelings for a ride. For me it's my CHILLER and the feeling doesn't carry over to Hypersonic. Minus the launch the XLC ride is about on par with a Boomerang, that's why I see it as a fair replacement. The part of Hypersonic I'd keep would become a death machine on RCT.

I'd rather have Chiller (with the zero-g roll) over Hypersonic 100x over. Especially after the restraint change. Going backward through that zero-g roll was one of the craziest moments I've ever had on a coaster.

I mostly just get sentimental over HS:XLC because it was such a big deal back when I was in middle school and I was soooo pumped up for it and its hard to believe its been several years already and its going to be gone. KD will definitely not look the same.

I will say it was the one ride that no matter how many times I rode it, I got a little bit nervous feeling waiting for the launch. Definitely a launch that will be forever remembered by those who rode it.
