I was just surfing around http://www.italintl.com because I was bored and I'm a geek, when I came across Hypersonic XLC. It's for sale. I wonder if this is Cedar Fair's doing. Does anyone know if it was for sale before Cedar Fair bought the chain?

This is old news and I think this ride will only be good for scrap metal.

It's a shame because this type of ride could be so much more. Personally I think the coffin trains didn't help either. They weren't comfortable and very awkward. Nobody knew how to strap in!

Its been for sale all season. They're taking it down during the off season no matter what according to some rumors. I doubt anyone will buy it... Too many issues. I won't be sad, its a horrible ride, imo.

If they threw it in the same scrap pile as some of the Geauga Lake choices maybe I'd feel slightly better about that bad sad situation.

Well I'm glad to see it go & won't miss it at all.Now if they can just get rid of that piece of firewood next door to it known as hurler while they're at it.

I think I'd rather have a track segment of Flashback than a piece of Hypersonic after it's all chopped down. Is the tower too far of a departure for S&S to make it a freefall tower and sell it elsewhere?

I'm sure maybe some small park will buy that up. It would be a great addition for a park like that. The ride itself would be fine if they they just went back to the origional trains and maybe added on some track.

I'm suprised they're selling it instead of throwing it in another CF park.

^Really? Usually rides are recycled to other parks if they don't suck. I mean, the park has kept a Togo standup for over 20 years, but this 7 year old coaster is already too rough?

The park clearly didn't know how to take care of it. Not to mention it is a piece of junk coaster. If something like Hypersonic gets rougher that a ToGo stand up it's a sad sad world.

Frankly I've never been that bothered by the Togo myself, but it's certainly a "blah" experience of a coaster.

But which would I rather ride? The Togo of course.

I also agree that Hurler has fallen apart. Although it wasn't quite as bad in the front row last July (my 1st ride in a year or two).

As far as I'm concerned, they could rip out about half the coasters there and leave Volcano, Flight of Fear, Dominator and Grizzly and I'd still love the place.

I'm glad it's leaving. I'm not defending the coaster. Just saying it was so much nicer when it opened then they went and changed trains a few times and clearly ruined the ride. Hopefully someone will buy it so the park can have a few extra million for improvements. KD does need some updateing.

I think a lot of people saw this coming. The ONLY thing this ride had going for itself was the launch. As soon a the launch was over, the ride turned into a brutaly painfull experience. According to Screamscape, they may be adding GL's boomerang to that general area. I hope that is not the case. http://www.screamscape.com/html/kings_dominion.htm

That's too bad, I would've liked to have ridden it. I've driven past it maybe 4 times but the only times I went to PKD were in 1998, before it opened. I hear bad things, but that is a *serious* launch, and I'm sure the ejector air on both hills is sick. Roughness isn't a huge deal when the ride is exciting, hence why I'd take Viper GAdv way over Rolling Thunder.

KD's coaster selection, while helped a lot now by Dominator, leaves a lot to be desired IMO. Almost every coaster is rough, and many are boring too. I agree with Wes...(though like I said, I haven't been on Hypersonic, so I can't judge that too much) the rides he listed are the only ones I'd care about.

There was a catch to that statement. As long as we get hyper or launched coaster in the same year i would love the Boomerang. I just don't know what it is about these coasters. I just love them and would love Carowinds to have one.

If only I had the money and the land. Id buy it if i was as rich as Gates. It may not be that good of a ride, but one those days when you REALLY REALLY REALLY want to go on a coaster (everyday for us lol) this could come in handy!
