| SDC and CC 2009
In 2009 the Coaster Con event will be at SDC/CC/WoF. This, along with rumors on screamscape, have led me to believe that not only SDC will be getting a new coaster in 2009, but that CC will also get one. I think one park will get a EuroFighter or a B&M coaster, while the other gets a woodie. SDC would be more likely to get the wooden coaster because CC already has one and it is CC's only major coaster. Also a wooden coaster would fit in nice with the SDC theme whereas CC doesn't seem like a park to have two major wooden coasters.

Meh, it seem almost certain that SDC will be getting a GCII woodie (or possibly a Mystery Mine), but I doubt CC will get a coaster in the same year. I mean, what would be the point of two parks owned by the same company getting two different headline attractions at once? It's bad enough the way they are competing with each other already. In fact, I doubt CC will be getting a major new coaster for some time now. Given the way the park is slowly spinning around (in a somewhat upward direction, at least), I doubt the Herschends will trust much an investment in it until the place gets finally starts getting a little more average profit. It's not like the park is in a death spiral, it's just that it's been falling short of the companies expectations, and thus I wouldn't be hoping for too much from them for awhile. The new water flume coming this year is a big step though, it should be a huge hit. |

I think part of the reason CC is not doing as well as they hoped is because they don't have any major thrill rides besides Wildcat and Accelerator (which is very small, yet one of the most thrilling S&S towers I've been on). Which is why I think a new coaster would do a whole lot more than a new flume ride, especially since they already have one (even if it seems to always be down). Why would they host a coaster event if they have one major coaster? I could see them getting a B&M looper, or some kind of terrain coaster near the back of the park.

Beech Bend hosted Con this year and only has one major coaster -- what's the difference? Don't sell CC short, they are doing fine and that is from HFEC itself.

Now one park might get a coaster but I also doubt that both will in the same year. I can see them both getting something new. one gets a coaster the other a major none coaster ride. and if CC's Flume is never operating maybe they will add a new Flume. with it you might see that area re worked a bit.

Since CC opened they have not gotten a new coaster, while Silver Dollar city got PowderKeg, along with a whole new area full of flat rides and then the Big Swing. CC has gotten nothing but small family rides really, except for maybe Chaos, and I think they are due for a new coaster. Also, in 2008 I am pretty sure that CC is getting a new flume from Geauga Lake or some other park. I really think that 2009 could be the year for a new coaster at CC. They had a huge vision for this park before it opened, and so far I really don't think it has lived up to what I thought it would be (not that that matters to a company, but I think they had bigger plans for the park too). Sure it has a great family atmosphere, plus it has great nighttime festivities, but it doesn't deliver thrills.

But SDC dose. IF they are too much alike your competing with yourself. If one has a better Family atmosphere and rides that park can cattier to those tourists and locals while the other cattiers to the other groups. Not to mention if a park is under performing it's not feasible to spend Millions on it since it will not get back withing a reasonable amount of time. Adding a Thrill ride with a more dramatic Family ride might see a better return. also you make the park more likely attendance and Capacity wise to handle a larger addition. Now I never said CC wouldn't get a coaster. just that it's unlikely that both parks would get a coaster in the same year. But they haven't had CC all that long. around 5 years . It's only been open for 4. and in 4 years they have had additions what 2 of the 4 years. but it's possible that they will get some sort do attraction next year. a major coaster might be a little bit of a stretch. If attendance is indeed down You may simply see a medium sized Family level coaster. Perhaps a spinning coaster like Knotts just added.

Celebration City is 6 years old. It is also receiving a Chute the Shoots ride next year that HFEC bought from Geauga Lake to be called Roaring Falls. Silver Dollar City is not getting a new attraction next season, but in 2009 there will be a VERY LARGE CAP invested at the park. Celebration City is supposed to get a new ride and White Water is said to get a new slide in 09 as well.

Also thanks for the correction on the Years. I didn't know How many years the company owned it before it reopened.
