So let the speculation begin on what is going on here -- pretty early to see sticks already popping up in the park, unless this is a major addition we are dealing with here... which Brandon said last Coaster Christmas that something was coming

The red marks are where stakes have been found? If they didn't have a hyper I was foreseeing a lift hill dropping off over the train tracks.

Yes the marks on the picture above are where the sticks are located. There could very well be additional sticks in the wooded areas, but that has yet to be confirmed as they are not visible YET due to the park being closed until next weekend.

Sticks are starting to appear at Worlds of Fun already for what might be the 2009 project.

I wouldnt mind seeing another Floorless in the chain. Maybe a new S&S elloco coaster or a coaster with more then a 90' drop.

I don't think that it will be an S&S El Loco coaster considering the size of the area. I won't rule out a GCII or a floorless. I'm pushing for the floorless considering there is not one in the area and would be something completely "different" around here that would bring in the masses.

How exciting!

I just posted about this over at newsplusnotes because these developments have me confused. I was originally told that the GCI was a go for WoF in 2009. But I was also told that GCI was doing one ride for Cedar Fair a year.

Since California's Great America is adding a GCI in 2009 - has WoF's ride really become something else?

There were also rumors that Universal Florida's Rockit was going to be a B&M originally but B&M was too busy for 2009. Seaworld Orlando has a rumored B&M flyer, Kings Island is possibly getting a B&M hyper, could WoF be getting a B&M floorless?

International park growth is phenomenal right now, and B&M is a major provider of coasters for the entire world, that could explain there very busy work schedule right now.

It really could be anything at this point. The GCI rumor has been going around since Renegade was announced. A floorless would be cool along with any type of launch ride.

Those pictures remind me of Valleyfair at the start of the 2006 season. I think WoF will get a GCI, because they probably noticed how popular Renegade was last year.

Of course I have not been there yet, but from the pics I sense the little valleys, a terrain woodie? It could still be the woods, with nice cover and character. A new Beast like twister?

Source?

---

I'm leaning between the GCII woodie or a B&M floorless. Personally I think the floorless would be the better way to go as they could market it easier than "another woodie"

I think a gg woody would be different for Cedar Fair and become very popular...

...and become VERY ROUGH and UNRIDEABLE in less than a year. No, I'll pass on CF buying a GG.

Also, regardless who builds a woodie, it is still going to viewed as a woodie to the GP, whereas a floorless is a gimick that can be easily advertised

DHollon, why so negative about floorless coasters? They're great in my opinion!

^Great for you, but IMO, they're total gimmicks. The track is so far away that the only difference it makes is a little extra pain in your lower legs from the positives. I'd rather ride a standard sitdown.

I agree with coolstarwasim. A GCI would be more likely than a floorless, I think. Renegade was so successful, and CF has noticed that.

WTH? I'm not being negative on floorless coasters, that's what I want to come to WOF. The only thing I have been negative on is GG woodies and Robb Alvey from TPR.

The whole area is apparently crawling with flags, sticks and small furry animals. Yesterday was a dry run day for the park and I was told that you can only see them if you ride the train, which makes sense because there aren't any walkways back there.

DHollon, I rode Voyage last year and it is no way rough and unrideable... I loved it and my 2 top woodys are GG. Next would be thunderhead... Both companies make good coasters from what I see and the roughness is how the park takes care of the coaster. Even an Intamin would be rough if it was never properly cared for...

^yes, but Voyage is at Holiday World and not at a CF park, there in lies the difference. Voyage would be rough as hell if HW didn't retrack such large sections every year. You honestly think a CF park is going to retrack it's new woodie before year two like HW has had to do with Voyage? I don't think so.

[$.02]Except that it is rough. I hate it when people try to get around that for whatever reason, because Voyage has a very rough second half. That may add something to the intensity for some people, but it's still rough. I wouldn't call it unrideable. But, yeah, it's absolutely rough.[/$.02]

That area is huge. I just hope those stakes aren't for another haunted attraction this time...But if this is going to be a big coaster I wouldn't be surprised if they start clearing between late May or July.

I haven't ridden El Toro but I wish we would get an Intamin woodie like that or T Express.

They could be for a walk through haunt. . . but I doubt it.

I highly doubt it is for a walk-through haunt. The terrain in that area would be hell to get to the level it would have to be to support a path. Getting it ready to support supports will enough work. I tend to think this is going to be a steel coaster as it would be a lot of work to get that land ready for the cement slabs that GCII uses.

I take it you haven't seen the land Thunderhead sits on.

I take it you do like to read entire posts before posting.

Also last time I checked Thunderhead was built BEFORE GCII started using concrete slabs underneath the entire structure.
