Six Flags New England Rumors

So rumors have been floating around for a little while that SFNE will be getting a wooden coaster for 2009. Does anybody have anything a little more specific? Could these be the last few years of the Cyclone running?

Somehow I've been content with SFNE's wood offerings. Cyclone is not great but I'm not screaming that they need something.

This rumor is really hard to believe because SFNE was denied a permit to build “The Dark Knight” this year, so plans to build that ride have been pushed back. That is the next ride they will probably build and it’s doubtful they would build another ride at the same time. Plus, I believe it’s unusual for anyone to build a “new” wooden coaster these days. If they were to replace the Cyclone, it would be more believable a new B&M steel coaster would go up in its place.

Dont forget the fact SFNE has a major lack of free space for a new ride... And unless they replaced a coaster with a new one (not gonna happen) or replace the old Route 66 cars (I could see this happening.. but not yet) its not gonna happen.

And I also still think DK will pop up in 09.

As far as "other sites say its gonna happen"
Well.. I can just say this on 5 sites right now, doesnt mean its gonna happen..
"in 2009 SFNE is gonna remove SROS and send it to SFDK"

^ Oh I love that. Stop the presses in San Francisco. hahahaha

I don't see the land available @ SFNE for any kind of woodie. It wouldn't seem right if it was branched out away from the park. The park is well contained unless you like you say the 66 cars come out and it would go down in that cleared area by the Dark Knight site. I think the Dark Knight could return as well. The SFNE crowd has become my new question. Are they as picky and spoiled in the thrill area as my home SFGADV crowd to not be able to understand this Dark Knight release? They're not getting it easily here in NJ. They've been following the bait of Kingda Ka and El Toro to not be able to understand a downgrade to another lower thrill level coaster genre to suit the family.

Same thing here with SFOG, only reverse. It's not a very good strategy in my opinion.

Just to name a few.

^^El Toro!??! Ehh its 2 years old...

This is definetly a rumor! Haha, but it is the rumor section!!

But I think that a new Woodie would best fit a park like SFOG... I can see a El Toro type coaster in the place of GASM...

You might just be more ignorant than the person who started this thread. As mentioned above, there are plenty of new wooden coasters every year. GCII, Intamin, and Gravity Group are just a few of the companies that design wooden coasters.

And what makes you so sure that a B&M would be able to replace Cyclones rather small footprint? Other than three floorless coasters, B&Ms are usually pretty big, or at least take up more room than that. I suppose they could clone their batman and have two in the park. More likely than building one of thoe supposed "new" wooden coasters.

Well since everybody is doubting a new wooden coaster in the near future, what do we see for any additions to the park?

How about A B&M Flying Coaster/ Dive Machine Coaster? It's Rumored that Six Flags is going to add a Dive Machine to one of their properties.

I could see SFNE getting a Eurofighter more so than a Dive Machine.

I also doubt it would be a dive machine, they have relatively large footprints.

Perhaps this question was answered someplace obvious but I picked up a SFNE brochure (oddly placed in the palisaides mall in ny), and It had a opening 2008 DARK KNIGHT picture on the cover and a little description about the darkest hour thing. Is this a missprint?

Well.. They were gonna get the coaster.. It was even almost set up in the park before being removed. So I guess you just found an outdated one. The new ones have been reprinted with all the "Glow in the Park" info.

It's like my SFGADV 1997 map. "New in '97" CHILLER ad. You just go with the flow and keep it in your map/park collection. I wouldn't believe everyone was up to date in replacing the brochures. The Palisades is near that major Tappan Zee Bridge so I don't think it would be a stretch that brochure would be there. It's a gateway towards the New England area. There is definitely no doubt you'll find a SFGADV brochure there as well.

I hope that wooden coaster rumor is true, but I doubt it.

Screamscape has a rumor that the Dark Knight will go to Six Flags Mexico, but that's a pretty wild rumor to me. Then again, that crowd may not really care as long as they get a new ride.

After the lackluster response to the other two makc in the box coasters it's no wonder that SFI wants to get SFNE's cancelled ride out of the country ASAP.

Shapiro just loves spoiling SFNE because he's got family there. Heck if he's gonna give them a woodie in 09 there are a couple in a certain MD. park that,in all likelyhood may not exist in a few years time at the rate their going so they just might find their way up t here over the coming years.
