Dollywood Hotel

Could this be the reason that there wasn't a Dollywood Hotel before now?: 952 F.2d 403

According to the court documents, Dollywood was looking into the possibility of a hotel as far back as the early '90s. This situation caused them to have a set back. Still, if they are seriously looking to build a hotel now, then they probably still own the land where they were planning on building the property before.

What I found so surprising is exactly the low ownership of Dolly Parton Productions stipulated in the court papers. Dolly sure wouldn't have had much say in the hotel back then!

Yet another Dollywood thread... I don't feel like reading that whole document trying to find what you speak of, care to elaborate more?

Sure,

I wasn't quite sure which thread to post this, but since Dollywood Hotel rumors have started up again, I thought some folks might be interested in this. What I found most interesting was:

Quote:
The DRH documents state that the Group (Charnock is identified as a shareholder of the Group) and the Company agree to form DRH as a corporation. DRH was to develop, own and manage the Dollywood Hotel. Ownership of DRH was to be as follows: the Group, 90%; the Company, 7.5%; and DPP 2.5%. The documents require the Company to convey, which it has, the proposed hotel's site to DRH upon the satisfaction of all terms of the parties' agreement and upon financing being secured for the project. The Company also agrees to grant DRH a license to use the Dollywood trademark.

DPP stands for "Dolly Parton Productions" so, Dolly would only have owned 2.5% of the hotel back in the early 90s. That is not very much for a business with your name on it! Of course, I'm not a lawyer, so she may have had more of an interest in the project than what was mentioned here due to partnerships with HFE.

I'm sure dolly would own much more of it now, that's probably why she's basically confirmed a hotel. I'm sure it'd be jointly managed between her and HFE
