Kennywood 2009

Well, this season will be over before you know it and 2009 will be right around the corner. Any ideas of what's in store for next year, now that new ownership is in place? The only rumor I have heard is that there is a possibility of Season Passes.

More than likely we could see nothing new next year. I herd rumors that the King Kahuna is on thin ice, but I’m not sure how accurate that is. Actually I herd that the whole park is on thin ice right now? hope this isn’t true but I’ve herd this from a lot of people.

I went to Kennywood for the first time last week and met up with 2 people who work at the park right now, as well as one who used to work at the park. I also heard they will have Season Passes next year as Parques Reunidos "requires" all of its parks to offer a pass.

I have heard about the season passes too, which I think is a great deal. Especially, if you can use it through out the Parques Reunidos chain. I think I heard the price of 89.95.

As far as the park, they aren't going to do anything with it. I think they might get ride of King Kahuna (which is really friggin old anyway) and maybe put back in the Bayern Kurve.

I can see KK going to, but I would hate to see it happen because I love that ride. The othere thing the park might be doing is saving up money to be able to put hte expansion plans into play in several years. So I wouldnt expect anyhting new in the near future, just the Kurve.

Chances are whatever is added next will be portable assuming the Mon Fayette Expansion Plans are still strong.

I think Gerstlaurer Came out with a New Flat Ride that takes A Chance Aviator and makes you fly. It looks like this.

Sky Roller

I would also like that Park to add a Motion Simulator Building and/or a Ferris Wheel. I don't know if Ham On Rye is still there though. I last went in 03.

I've heard from some shaky sources that they might bring back the Bayern Kurve, Swing Around or some other old ride in 2009. Despite the source being questionable, this would make sense. Kennywood recently spent a hefty $2 million on Ghostwood estate; they're not going to make anymore big investments for a year or two, especially if they intend to begin the expansion in 2010.

^Just to let you know, the expansion isn't expected to be completed for 8 years at the least. All because of the Expressway. But there is rumors that there is plans to add a new coaster before that happens.

^When I said expansion, that also included any future coasters that might utilize the brownfield site next to the Racer. But, yeah, the park itself probably won't expand for at least a few more years.

I also found an interesting development involving the Mon-Fayette expressway:
