OOOOh yea.......Yea I know...I mean, the only thing I would see you needing shoes for would be the zipline part and the bridge part i guess.....but idk...Btw have you guys really looked close and the right hand side of the artwork...if you look...there is like a little path that seems to be heading behind AM....maybe this could be the path to all the crazy little roads we have been seeing....

We have Teva sandals that have nylon straps and are antibacterial so we wear those to Dollywood. They are comfortable, we are able to keep them on when we ride Sky Rider and other rides that other people can't wear flip flops on. And they dry fast.

We were at Dollywood the other day and on that day it was sooooooo hot. We usually head towards the Country Fair area first, unless we see a show first. Then we go ride Daredevil Falls, then Blazing Fury. We skip the Tornado (too scared LOL) then walk up to Mystery Mine. Sometimes we ride it, sometimes not...it depends how long the line is. Or we'll ride Thunderhead and/or Timber Tower, again depending on the the lines. It is at that point that we usually get hungry. So the other day when this happened, and it was sooooo hot, I got to thinking why don't they put a nice indoor restaurant up in that area? It was way too hot to enjoy a meal out in the blazing sun on that day. We walked all the way back down to Aunt Grannys which we like but we had really wanted to stay in the Timber Canyon or Wilderness Pass area. By the time we had walked back down to Aunt Grannys we really didn't want to walk all the way back up to the coasters. So maybe with AM coming, a new restaurant up in that area can be considered?

Also, we are planning on going to Splash Country for the first time ever, in a few days. We got an E-mail that states there is a special right now for an "Afternoon Splash" ticket which is only $25, if you go after 3PM. I know that when we go to Dollywood, it is an all day thing and we are often there for at least six or seven hours. I just wanted to know if four hours is enough to explore and enjoy all of Splash Country for most people?

I image that they just have to be closed toe shoes like what you have to have on the zip lines. If that's the case, I may buy some of those rubber shoes they have there and up pull that band up on the back like sandles. Does any of that make since?

It certainly will give you a taste. It is a large waterpark as well - nearly 40 developed acres. There are about 30 slides, a quarter mile long lazy river and a half-millon gallon wave pool plus a leisure pool on the lower section of the park.

I am flat footed and thank God for my inserts from the podiatrist! I wear aqua socks to Dollywood, my bathing suit as my shorts, and an underarmor or nike shirt that is designed to dry fast. Thats my theme park attire and it as worked out well so far.

I love splash country. Depending on the lines four hours may or may not be enough. I'd say it would probably not be. But anyway, you would be able to float in the lazy river and explore the whole park. It is 35 acres so it isn't nearly as big as Dollywood but it is bigger than alot of water parks. Its really cool, you need to do Swift Water Run the bowl slide. If TT is too scary for you you may get sick just looking at Fire Tower Falls, they are very steep! Hope you have a blast.

As I used to tell folks all last Summer, Mystery Mine is alot rouger than Tornado ever could be, if you can handle that, you could handle TT with no problems... the coaster looks huge from the ground, but you don't really notice on-ride due to how fast it is.

Tornado is my favorite ride at Dollywood. Just look at my signature lol.

Splash Country is very awesome, and you should get a lot of rides in in 4 hours. Wild Rivers Falls is IMO the best ride in the park and usually the one with the shortest line. Even if the line is long, it moves pretty fast. Swiftwater Run usually has the longest line. I went today and from 11-3 (4 hours) I rode Wild River Falls 5 times, Swiftwater Run once, Big Bear Plunge once, the lazy river once, Mountain Twist once, and spent about 45 minutes in the wave pool.

Hey, about the new roller coaster, a thought came through my mind. Although there is a high chance that the new coaster would be steel launched, what if they added another wooden coaster. After the success of Thunderhead, I could actually see them building another woodie. Dollywood, with it being smokey mountain and country themed park, a wooden coaster seems something that would go more with that country theme if you know what I mean. There is also the idea of a launched wooden coaster. It sounds crazy but if you have looked at the specs. on Gravity Group's new timberliner trains, It mentions a launching and magnetic brake capability. With Dollywood adding different things than other Theme parks, a launched wooden coaster sounds like something they would do.

Well I must say that TT is fun, but when riding it could cause a head ache, at least when I ride it, It does. I must add that Mystery Mine is scary but if you don't think about the ride and just have fun anyone can have fun on it!!

I've not liked the Gravity Group ever since they build the Voyage and took the Golden Ticket away from TH. To me, if your WOODEN coaster is anything but WOOD, it shouldn't be considered a WOODEN coaster, but a hybrid.

Oh well, a launched woodie sounds fun, as long as it's all wood...

^I see what you're saying, and I somewhat agree. There are several factors that affect what the structure will be made of such as if it is in an area subject to hurricanes or other storms, or if it's built over a lake, etc. However what defines a wood coaster as a wood coaster is the actual track, not the support structure. The same goes for steel coasters.

Yeah, all of gravity group's coasters are not a hybrid design. Boardwalk Bullet at Kemah Boardwalk and Fireball at Happy Valley both have a wooden structure and I'm sure there are more than that. That's all I could think of at the moment, haha.

A launched woodie would be very thrilling....but wouldn't it be a little jerky?? or rough? Yea ya never know with Dollywood...they could have a suspended launch coaster in the works for all we know...lmbo....Dollywood is pretty sneaky if ya think about it...........Heck they might even be adding something extra other than a restaurant......Ya never know

Thanks for the info on Splash Country. We will see how it goes...I have a feeling we are going to like it a lot. If we do, we're going to buy the season passes for next year that allows us into both Dollywood and Splash Country (that is, if they are offered).

The big loop is what scares us about the TT. Before MM, neither one of us had ever been on a coaster that goes upside down. The MM inversion doesn't scare us at all, though, even when it seems there is a lot of hang time. The only thing on MM that has scared us a little is that drop at the end before the inversion. Also we sit and watch the coaster videos on youtube a lot and have seen many of those TT video rides and the expression on some of those peoples faces look like they are really scared. Then when we are at Dollywood we see little kids going to ride the TT and feel like a big chicken. I wish we could be braver and just ride it.

I wonder how those harnesses work, the ones on MM and TT. How do they stay closed? I was freaked out the first time we rode MM when there was no belt to buckle on that harness (like the belts on Sky Rider). The operator told me that there was absolutely no chance the harness would lift until the ride was stopped, though.

I hoep you have a good time there ......The first loop on tennessee tornado is NOTHING...its really fun.....but hold your head back on the head thing or the gravity will push your head down and it will make you dizzy...really dizzy....to me the most "powerful" loops on TT are the last two because the are small, and the trains are going fast through them. But honestly, you have nothing to worry about. Just get on, hold your hands up, and have fun .....If it is that stomach dropping feeling you are afraid of.....TT doesn't give you that feeling at all......Idk why tho......Its really fun though......Most people are just afraid because of the speed.....thats about it...
With the restrains....The restrains have a locking system so that when the harness goes all the way down it locks, and the system has a sensor in it that when the train pulls into the station, it unlocks, but it will NOT unlock anywhere else, so don't worry. Now with TT, the restrains make a "click click click click" sound when you are pulling them down.So don't let that scare you a little at first lol........So just go up to TT, don't stare at the track and stuff or you will make yourself scared.....just go up to the entrance, walk up those steps, get in, pull the restrains down, and have a really fun time! ....Oh and be sure to post some trip pictures on here...... Have Fun

Nicely put...

Now, let me put a word in for my friend Bill who has made an Awesome Youtube channel with nothing but Dollywood's Shows. So far he has all of Sha-Kon-O-Hey up and one part of Gemtones. He is on a cruise for the holidays and won't be back for a week. He'll post the rest of the shows up when he returns. So, without farther ado, here's the channel

To add onto the discussion concerning restraints, TT's cars have an amazing system of failsafes for the over-the-shoulder retraint system. If you ever get to see it with the back panel off- it really is a sight to behold.

And he was correct, the only place the restraints can come open is at the specific point in Block A (station), if the train stops early in the station before that specific point- they still won't open. In case of an E-Stop in another set of block brakes, the ride ops have to manually release the restraints one at a time using the foot pedal, not an easy task to do on a lift hill, I can tell you that.

So, give it a try, don't worry at all- TT is the smoothest coaster at Dollywood and due to its speed, it's over before you know it.

Oh god yes It would be rough, haha. But...the specs on the timberliner trains do say that they are able to navigate the track smoothly but I don't know if that means It's less rough. I would actually like a launched woodie I think. I would at least like to try one. You never know until you try it I guess.

And did anyone figure out how to get rid of that space under my text?

I'd say that if it were an Intamin pre-fab like El Toro, it'd be pretty smooth.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

^About the empty space under your text; it looks like the size of your avatar combined with the short length of your text makes it look like there's extra space there. If you had a signature, it would probably fill that space up a little. If you look at Pete's post above yours, you'll see the same effect.
