My personal favorite time is the Harvest Festival. Then you really get the nice feel/smell of the Smokey Mountain air!

I just don't want anything with a Heavy plot. I'd much rather see something like Dream land with a slight plot. I much rather hear music than see an actual story line unfold

Man, I wish I could've went to Dollywood this year. So far I've been to Carowinds twice (again soon) and Freestyle Music Park. Oh, I'm going to do a little advertising. Everyone go look at my Hard Roc....Freestyle Music Park Trip Report =P. I guess I didn't miss very much at Dollywood this year though but I still love it and miss it. I'll go next year for sure.

I hope I get to Dollywood next year. I hadn't been in fifteen years until last year and between last year and this year I have been 10 different days I think. I have done Dollywood, SDC, and three different six flags parks. I am wanting to do the Disney and Busch Gardens parks to see how they compare. Some say Dollywood is Disney quality others don't. I gotta do like Dolly and find out for myself, lol.

Paradise Road was the story of Dolly's life. It was much more "Broadway style" than any other musicals they have done. My bet would be until Babe's In Toyland that Paradise Road would have been there most extravagant (There was actually even a turntable in the center of the Celebrity Theatre stage to make the change from childhood to adulthood and to simulate a road being walked along. It followed Dolly's life from childhood to present day. With the main song being the title of the show as well LYRICS HERE it was from Dolly's Hungry Again album. The show debuted in 1998 (same here as Daredevil Falls) and had it's final season in 2001.

In my personal opinion Paradise Road was and is still the best show Dollywood has ever done! When they did "He's Alive" it was just as moving as when Dolly does it in concert herself (which if you have been to one of Dolly's concerts you know that would be hard to do).

I agree with you, every time I saw it It was moving! It's the best show ever that they've done period!!

Hey, heres something just to think about; I realized that Dollywood isn't doing there Barbeque and BlueGrass Festival this season, I remember the very first one they did, I was working there that season and It was such a good turn out; I wonder why they're not doing it this year? To me it was a great festival they had!

My guess, cost. Takes a lot of money to have such artist come to the park and perform for free as well as placing booths in the park, placing in park signs, etc. Not to mention the cost of advertising a separate festival.

The first year I'm sure it was a huge success but remember the first year was a huge promotional year for it. Dolly was there and it was the launch of her new cookbook "Dolly Dixie Fixin's" which benefits the Dollywood Foundation.

^I guess that could be a possibility, but I would bet the economy would have to make a really fast recovery and by the end of the year. Because it would have to be planned by the end of December at least to make the 2010 brochure.

Unfortunately, some of these mini-festivals have came and went over the years- anyone remember the Showcase of Stars? Of course that was back when Dollywood and Opryland were still duking it out in the 90s..

Dollywood is an excellent theme park, yes, but no one is in disney's league simply because of money. Their average ride cost is $80 million. Think about that. I love all of the parks you mentioned and have an affinity to DW (obviously) but there is quality everywhere.

80 million dollars, my goodness! I'll always have an affinity for Dollywood too. Knowing that info about Disney, it is a great compliment to hear folks saying Dollywood is at or near Disney quality. Honestly, the only time I heard someone say anything about the park not being Disney quality was at Splash Country. That gentleman was having a great time but just stated Tyhpoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach were more elaborate and its obvious now why! I honestly never bring up a comparison I just always listen. My 8 year old neice said she liked Dollywood and Disney the best of the parks she has been to. You guys are doing a great job and I look forward to the future.

I like what was brought up about a new festival. For some reason, that seems to be a route I could see them taking for the 25th anniversary. Its not an attraction, but its definitely an experience. I think that is a really good idea.

I was thinking the same way when I brought it up, If I remember right Dollywood mentioned a few festivals in one of there polls, But I'm not sure what one tey could pull of next.

Maybe the festival of lanterns!?

I don't think I ever fully understood the concept of the "Festival of Lanterns." What is that really?

I personally think that Disney is overrated. You can look at their prices and tell.
