I really don't think your going to start getting 2010 hints until summer of 2009, just like in years past. And really if you do I'm sure it will be something like "It will be centered around families."

I believe you are right. As much as I would love to hear about Dollywood 2010 I am more excited about Dollywood Splash Country 2009. I am hoping for a proslide Tornado so bad. I think last year they made the announcement in October so hopefully it will be coming soon. Ever since I visited Splashin Safari and Dollywood's Splash Country I have just fallen in love with water parks! DSC is my fav being nestled in the mountains. Come on already and put me out of my misery and make the announcement!

Thats true!! Mystery Mine rumors were going around in like 2005 and they proved to be true. So, maybe we are not crazy for trying to figure out stuff for 2010 in Fall of 2008.

Actually I don't beleive Dollywood released anything on Mystery Mine until spring of 2006 with the launch of Dollywood Mystery Mine - Coming in 2007! appearing. The concept appeared in a survey for rides much earlier but Dollywood/Pete did not start giving hints that I am aware of until Spring 2006, not Fall 2005. However it is still possible for them to give hints now I think they are more worried about publicizing next year first and drawing more focus to the immediate future. Just some thoughts.

The only ones that I can think of as of now are; Mystery Mine, a family coaster and a themed coaster that was part of a big ice house themed attraction that would include real snow falling from above and other attractions.

Actually come to think of it I beleive the ice house themed coaster and the family coaster were part of one idea because the themed coaster was a big 'thrill' coaster and the other one a family style. Of course this idea provided 'something for every member of the family.'

No they were two separate concepts. The whole ice house thrill/family coasters was one concept then there was a vertical drop mine themed coaster mentioned which we see now known as Mystery Mine. I beleive they were both on the same survey somewhere around 2003 - 2004 or so.

You sign up for the newsletters on Dollywood and/or Dollywood's Splash Country's website. Should sign up for both because they are separate email lists I think. As far as getting the surveys I'm not sure how that is picked. From the ones that Screamscape has reported as being out and compared to what I have known of people getting them not everyone will get the survey. It is either random or some type of demographic thing I guess, really not sure how they pick who gets them and who doesn't.

I remember one year (2001) my family actually participated in a survey at the park. We were in Dreamland Forest the year it opened and a host asked us questions about three concepts for the country Fair area remodeling. And beleive it or not from what I remember what is now the Country Fair was not a concept itself. What we see now as the Country Fair is a mixture and at least one idea ride that was presented as an idea for the Country Fair ended up somewhere else on park.

It should be noted that just because rides are not neccessarily on surveys, they won't come to fruition...

Thunderhead was never on a survey- that I remember.

^That was the ride I hinted at in the previous post, I think. One concept the host showed us for the Country Fair actually included a wooden coaster with smaller family rides around it. In my opinoin some of the Country Fair rides were the smaller family rides and Timber Canyon (Thunderhead Gap 04-05 when introduced) received the wooden coaster.

You know I saw on another site that rumor has it that B&M will be making an announcement about a new coaster type/style at or before IAAPA on November 18th -21st, so maybe this is what Dollywood will be getting.

When guests enter the park, there are marketing people there with clipboards, and they take names and emails. That's how I got on the list.
