dollywood splash country 2009 suggestion box

Hey everyone,
I was at dollywood's splash country this weekend and was talking to some employee and they said they didn't think that the company had decided what to do for 2009. I thought we could help them perhaps. I do find it hard to believe they haven't decided, but even if they have, these suggestions might help for the future.

Here are my suggestions in order of preference:

1) Something with bubbles. I love dolly's song bubbling over and I think a slide with bubbles constantly being created and popping as you slide thru them or over them would be great. I can't picture it exactly i just think something with severe bubbles would be awesome!

2)An equivalent to zinga at splashing safari or tornado at six flags. I think it should be a fairly long and twisting tunnel that drops into the funnel, then instead of just going into a pool of water, what if you went into another version of swift water run! Then out the drain. They could call it "runaway feelin" after dolly's song or perhaps the "river runoff" or something. But a combo of two classics onto one ride would be hot. The lines would go for days!

3) I love splashin safari's bahari river because it forks where you can choose a long or smaller route. I think splash country should keep the lazy river they have but extend it to make a longer route to be able to float and see more of the park. At the water park here at home (its much smaller) the water from the wave pool is used to flow into the river to give it a "boost." Maybe they could somehow connect the lazy river's new route to part of the mountain waves section.

Well these are thoughts i have off my head. maybe we can help them out!

Just because they haven't decided yet, doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing. I'm sure they have plenty of ideas in there heads just have narrowed it down yet...

But more on the Lazy River... Doesn't slitterbaun have they're lazy river kinda like a rapids ride? I think that'd be cool!

The 2009 addition will definitely be placed near Swiftwater Run. Just read post 8 on the Splash Country 2008 thread.

Steven,
I am so sorry. I always type in lowercase. It will be an adjustment but I'll try! Thank you for refering me to the rules.

Not a problem... we found it keeps things quite a bit more civilized on here, and people come off as being more intelligent as well.

Yeah, I agree. I think we want every one from young to the old guy enthusiast/park employee type not having a problem reading anything here. Serving all is a great community attribute to try to push.

I wish I saw what this park looked like during my 1 and a half days at Dollywood.

I read post 8 on dollywood splash country 2008. It does say a 2009 addition will be added in that area. It sure seems quite full now to me with raging river rapids, mountain twist, and mountain scream surrounding it. Perhaps they will clear out more area there. I do hope there is a big slide added with bubbles, we need bubbles.

I heard somewhere that they might be adding a zipline attraction. I can't remember who told me that, but it would work because of the limited amount of space over in that area.

I believe the zipline is part of the Adventure Mountain expansion of Dollywood. I can't wait until they announce the splash country addition. After going this year for the first time in fifteen years, I will probably have to go back at least once every year. I really did love my visit, of course I am a big Dolly fan so I would!

How about a Transportainment like at Schlitterbahn South Padre OR try to break the record for the longest Lazy River.

A Master Blaster could also work.

I saw a youtube of master blaster, that ride is wild! I see it has rated number 1 on water rides for awhile. I have been on the #2 water ride, zoombabwe-the worlds tallest enclosed water slide , at Splashin Safari. I know someone going to Atlantis in the Bahamas and they have a water slide that sends you through a clear tube that is located in a shark pond! I still like the lazy river expansion idea for dollywood's splash country.

Yeah I know that there will be ziplines on Adventure Mountain, but this rumor is for Splash Country. I guess it was Screamscape where I heard it at.

Wow. That is interesting. I am not sure why zip lines would be added to the water park. I need to explore screamscape.

I just looked on screamscape. It did state there is a rumor about an upcharge attraction. If that means you pay extra to do it, i don't care for that idea. I personally like it better when you pay one price for a ticket and then just have to buy food or locker rental. I do like it that splash country has the waterproof wristband system that you can use instead of money. It is so nice not having to wag your wallet around.

I don't mean to just revive an old thread but I hope dollywood pete or somebody reads this. I just love water parks so much, I would like to see Dollywood's Splash Country get up there in the golden tickets. I really think a Canadian Proslide tornado slide would be such a great addition. I read that they are so popular at six flags and that at Holiday World it, along with Bakuli, are the most popular rides. Zinga at Holiday World even won a golden ticket. Splash Country was wise to get Swift Water Run, now they need to get the other proven winner, a Canadian Proslide tornado type slide. I would also suggest a big one with a capacity of four or five folks at a time to move the line speed along. I don't think the cost is that much either, for an addition anyway. I think around 2 million at the most. I would love to see what Splash Country could do with this type of slide.

In addition, I have just now heard of the Schlitterbahn parks. One of them has rated #1 on the golden tickets for awhile. It is so cool that they have one section that is indoor and stays open year round. Heck, I say Dollywood Splash Country should look into that. Enclose part of the park or build a new indoor section and make money all year! I cannot wait to see what they are going to do. Surely the announcement will be coming soon. Please forgive me if i am overenthused.

video of proslide tornado alley

http://www.proslide.com/flvPopup.php...ID=1&rideID=99

There is only three of these installed so far. One in korea. , china, and canada. Dollywood's splash country could be the first in the usa. It is a slide with TWO tornado elements. I say go for it!

Wow! I hadn't heard of that resort. I just visited the website. It isn't nearly as big as splash country but they are adding an indoor waterpark this year! The tornado will be indoors. I seriously believe splash country needs a tornado. On the proslide site it is listed first. I believe it is the current bestseller with the bowls second. Splashin Safari got the bigger behemoth bowl while Splash Country got the middle sized Cannon Bowl. I think they usually base it on traffic. I would have thought Splash would have got the bigger one. At any rate, if a local smaller resort has a tornado, Splash Country definitely needs one. And again i say get the double version as it would be much more unique. Hopefully proslide will come out with the tornado /bowl combo. That would be awesome. I still can't believe the resort will have an indoor water park this winter. Splash country needs that too! Tanning in the winter, who can beat that!

It is me again Margaret! I was just killing time reading the history of Dollywood and then went on to the Herschend family. I found they purchased Wild Adventures in Ga and guess what is coming to their Splash Island in 2009? - A Tornado!. That lets me know that people close to Dolly are very much aware of the Tornado and have saw the benefit of purchasing one! This is good news to me and I just had to relay my excitement on the board. It seems they could get a deal from Proslide by purchasing several for their differing properties. I am sure Six Flags got one when the put them all in. I can only assume it is a matter of time before Dollywood's Splash Country gets its own uniquely themed version of the Proslide Tornado. I am still hoping for a Tornado Alley or a Bowl/Tornado hybrid. Please make the Splash Country announcement already, I going nuts!
