| DP Laser replacement?
I admit I have virtually nothing to report, but does anyone else have any info? Addressing the GCII rumor: If they were to build a GCII there, the only way I can see that happening is making a few parts of the ride bridge all the way across the path that either Little Laser sits on (the one parallel to Laser's old spot) or directly over Howl-O-Scream or whatever that Halloween building is called. That means that anywhere from 30 to 60 yards of bridging for the track will have to be made. Yeah, that can be done, but it would be rather challenging. The other place DP has that much space left for is Hercules' old spot, but they might have to do even more landscaping. |

You do realize that Hercules old spot is taken up by Hydra, right? And the part behind it is way too close to residential homes to have a loud GCII. However, Laser's little corner of the park isn't so little. It won't be difficult to move those two kiddie coasters, and if they do something about that haunted house ride that's only used 10% of the season, they have a whole lot of room for a GCII. Look at it on Google Maps, the entire space from the parking lot to the bathroom by Steel Force could be used. In fact they could put that abnormally long walk to the bathroom into good use. |

^Yeah, I do know that Hydra took up some of the land, but there still is a bit left, although I do admit that Laser's spot is much more likely. (Forgot about shuffling the rides around.) But in terms of noise, Hercules went right up to the trees, only about 100 feet or so from the nearest house, although it was very low to the ground at that point. |

I would be really surprised if there was a new wooden coaster on Hercules' spot. The park already put sand in Talon and Hydra. I'm doubting that. If they put it over Laser's spot in a " L" over towards the filled in swimming pond by Steel Force they would need it to leap over the Zephyr train, the creek as well. That part of the creek I think is the most awesome part of riding Zephyr so I would hope for the coaster to minimize crossings over the creek in a U shaped layout.

There seems to be a lot of open space behind Little laser. That could likely hold a solid GCI coaster. the kiddie rides could be shifted over and down. they could likely get anotehr more thrilling flat into that corner. If they move things around they could still keep the haunted house.

It was a picnic grove building converted to a haunted house. I could see something in the range of SFMM's Terminator Salvation coaster. Something not too big.

Little Laser and Dragon Coaster aren't both needed since 2 kiddie coasters next to each other plus 1 in Camp Snoopy is excessive so they could remove 1 of those for a little room. I could see them getting rid of Tot Spot completely. It hardly has any rides compared to what used to be there and they could probably fit a few of them in Camp Snoopy.

I basically don't want them to touch any of the rides there. I like the current foilage. The filled in swimming pond is bare as can be leading to the lone Steel Force bathroom so I see that as a go unless engineers/surveyors tell us otherwise. Laser's pad only looks wide enough for a lift, turnaround, station, queue line, and final brake area. I could forsee a diagonal lift hill from the Laser area to the cleared SF lot but it would destroy the area I want to preserve. That Tot area does have that carnival kiddie ride feel but it seems so Pennsylvania classic to me. Those rides won't easily be replaced with the current industry practices. On that end of the park there is a senior housing building not too far away. With my vision I doubt a station flyby. I can forsee the lift hill where Laser's used to be.

To be perfectly honest, I see a flat ride where Laser used to be. If there's going to be a new coaster, they'll probably have to use all that land between Steel Force, Laser, and Revolution. There is not other room left at Dorney unless they started moving things around. I wouldn't be surprised if Laser's area turned into a childrens area altogether. Great Adventure has been adding a lot of them lately, Dorney might want to catch up. |

I agree and it fits my suggestion. push the coaster back into the grassed area. Laser could hold 1-2 solid flats.

Dorney has a pretty solid and evenly distributed flat ride selection already. Laser's pad would make for a great relocation point for Revolution if they need its current spot next to the grassly lot for the new coaster.

^They don't need to move Revolution to gain access to it. There's already a 40 - 50 foot spot of fence between that and Steel Force that could just be ripped out for a new path.

Access I was not thinking about but perhaps if they want more layout space, to max out the lot.

^Okie dokie. *Does some calculations* Ok, if that kiddie section is moved directly next to Steel Force, and the bathrooms and haunted house thing are removed, you got about 3.5 acres of land to deal with. In reality, that is actually a decent sized plot of land. SFA's roar took up less than 2.5 acres (holy crap, Google Earth is useful) so you have plenty of land to put in a very nice sized GCII. Actually, it can be along the size of Troy, if they are creative enough. But IMO that space should be saved long term for an STC Shuriken Coaster. |

Boardwalk bullet is barely over an acre. Gravity Group and GCI have designed a few really compact coaster. But looking at that field next to lasers area they have more then enough room for a solid coaster.

On NewsNotes I believe I read the kids jungle gym/fast food restaurant playland that sat in a square plot next to the Dragon coaster is now gone. That would be a nice clearance area.

Yea just google earth zoom in to a GCII coaster somewhere. Then, with the same zoom scale, zoom into that corner of Dorney. You'll see that there is more than enough room at Dorney for a GCII of the same caliber as the two they've built for CF parks.

That is a good way to see if a ride can or can't fit into a park.

^I just calculate the area that an example ride takes up and measure what land is available. Much easier for me, seeing as the footprint by copying and pasting is not always accurate to my eye.
