i feel like there is a lot of ideas here for the future but keep in mind that DSC is a FAMILY park. not mad so much for "teen extremes" but thing that family's can do together and enjoy that. that being said i feel a pro slide tornado is a great idea and a fun ride..BUT a lot of people thought the same about swift water run. SWR is a great ride and it is fun, however it is a let down after waiting in line 45 min to an hour. The park already offers 2 family rides together. What if we thought outside of the box? like a mat racer. its the best of all worlds. the height restrictions normally are 36 in which matches twist. a 4 lane racer would allow families to still do the ride together as well as ad some fun to it. Sorry to disappoint, Pete, but i do not think a tornado would be the best choices right now. we don't need our own "big orange monstrosity on 66" (sorry if the spelling is wrong...see the mountain press). IMO, a tornado for to 2010 season is a let down. I am looking forward to new opinions like a mat racer that more people would be open to and a little less intimidating but just as fun!

I just realized it will be Splash Country's 10th season next year. I am sure it will be a good addition no matter what. I believe the Tornado could be a great family ride. They usually use the four person clover leaf rafts. I have seen families ride them together as well as the larger bowl slide also that takes the four person clover leaf rafts. (Since I am single I think I actually prefer the Swift Water Run size to Bakuli at HW, it seems alot faster and hasn't been a let down to me after my wait. I also don't have to wait to be paired up with other people.) I personally have never cared much for racers. I do the Mountain Twist at DSC but headfirst slides are my least favorite and I think are more dangerous. I read a story about an overweight gentleman that did a headfirst slide and really wasn't prepared and hit his head on the bottom of the splash pool and is paralyzed for life! Not that that would happen but those stories make me take extra care on head first slides. I think DSC should look at their sister park Wild Adventures and see how that has worked out. If it has done well for them maybe they could add one at DSC. If not, they won't. I am going to be like Dolly and be positive no matter what. I am just happy DW and DSC exist!

Why don't you think a tornado slide would work?

And isn't Mountain Twist a mat racer? I'm not that educated on waterpark rides, but you race down a slide on a mat. Isn't that a mat racer?

twist is a mat ride, the mat racer i am referring to is a multi-bump side-by-side lanes up to 4 or 6 lanes.

The tornado- why add what everyone else has? it is a huge slide. the only fun part is the drop. once in side (just like SWR) your scratching your head to see if you missed something. as for Wild Adventures, even their management team isn't that happy with it and I over heard one guy in a polo say he has yet to ride it. Not to mention, it is so small with such a long line. Personally, i think the ride looks like a waste. if the Dollywood co. is so set on it at least consider a White Water West boomerang. You could theme a boomerang better than a tornado so it doesn't look like a big piece of fiberglass siting in our gorgeous mountains. i am just voicing a concern to really think about the investment. with a tornado you have the whole upper section that is unused. how much do you think that cost? (a start tube for a body slide is around a grand.) It seems like a lot of wasted money in thses economic times.

A Dollywood's Splash Country water tower only visible within the park would be cool. I am curious if a water tower just for the park would help matters Thats alot of water!

I'm still hoping for a water coaster in 2010. I believe that would take thrills to the next level at DWSC! It's probably highly unlikely for next season, given the capital expenditure that Adventure Mountain will represent for DW. A water coaster would be rather costly, but I can dream! It would be awesome to see one there eventually!!!

If we can't get a tornado a water coaster would be cool. I have never been on one. SFKK has one but I wasn't able to ride it earlier this year when I went. So here are my suggestions in order:

1 A tornado slide (Preferrable heavily themed)
2. A second lazy river. (Needed to ease congestion and bring in more folks)
3. A water coaster.
4. Additional areas of slides like Wild River Falls. Those four slides are my favorites.

I can't wait to see whats going to happen!

Oh ok so your saying that a tower that stands approximently oh 25 to 30 feet above a water park, and you can look out and see the water park below and then your dropped into a drop out pool of warter is already taken ok, well it was just a thought then.... well all water parks i've been to don't have one!!!!

Thanks for the SFKK tip. I was unaware that they have one in place. I looked it up on their website; it looks like a blast! Now if they would just reopen the Twins next year, it would give me a true incentive to visit for the first time! It's about a 5 hr. drive for us. Would it be worth the trip as compared to Holiday World, which is also about 5 hrs (we made the trip there last fall)?

Watch for an announcement very soon about a 2010 addition to the park.

Hints: It is one of a handfull of slides we do not have.
It will fit in an area in the "original" section of the park
It will be brightly colored.
It will be fun and you can do it with friends.

Could it indeed be a Tornado/Cyclone slide?

I am so thankful we are getting something period! A tornado would fit clues 1,3, and 4 for sure. I am not totally sure about clue 2, the original section of the park. I am pretty sure that was the lazy river, wild river falls, mountain waves, mountain scream area. Swift water run was therefore in the "original" section and I have read on here that an area near Swift water run was where the new addition is. It seems a tornado may be too big for that area so it may be a set of racer slides built into the mountain side. Looking at the map it doesn't look like there is much room around swift water run unless they do some development. It will be fun to hear. Whatever it is I'll be happy!

Racer slides fit all 4 clues. I'd say that is what it is. It really fits the last clue because you can race your friends. I'd say it will go between Raging River Rapids and Swiftwater Run because that is where people said they were gonna put ziplines in at, but the ziplines ended up going to Dollywood.

Personally I'm still hoping for a "terrain water coaster" doesn't seem likely in the given area though. Near BBP would be okay for it but I'm thinking that isn't an "original area" though right? On a side... still think it would be great to have some entertainment at the back of the wave pool.

also... If they want to go the upcharge attraction route at Splash Country a human catapult like on "WipeOut" would be pretty sweet, and for an add on to the Cascades they could do rope swings (very native to the area) but for safety they could make them like the one's that used to be up on "Daydream Ridge" but instead end over water for a nice little splash.

Technically, it can't be a water COASTER (clue 1).

Except for the fact that they are still often reffered to as coaster style slides. Yes it's very doubtful that will be it but still hoping, besides nothing wrong with throwing out an idea or two when you have the right people listening.

Yep, I think my offical guess is racer slides. Holiday World has a set and Six Flags St Louis got a set this year. What also makes me think that is that I didn't think there was any room for the racers at Six Flags where they put them just like it doesn't seem to me to be room at DSC. Obviously there is though! Plus it would be cool if the mats for mountain twist and the racers were interchangeable. There could be one mat pickup section that could serve two slide areas, I'm all for efficiency!

A racer slide complex could be very likely. In 2007 fellow HFEC property White Water in Branson added Kalani Towers which included a tower similar to Dollywood's Splash Country Fire Tower Falls as well as an adjacent racer slide tower.

Clue one says that it's ONE of a handful of slides. I'd consider a racer to be five or six..

I have done some research and here is what I have come up with:

These are the slides that are built by Proslide (who DSC uses for most slides) and currently not used at DSC:
Behemoth Bowls, Bullet Bowls, Pro Bowls, Tornados, Tantrums, Rockets, Atomics, Decktop Twisters, and Tunnel Twisters.

I may have missed some but from what I came up with from Proslides website this is what isn't at DSC yet.

The Octopus Racers look cool . If it is racers it would be cool to add a twist like the octopus entry so it isn't just normal like most racers.

My guess is if you recall Big Rock waterpark (herchand) at stone mtn. got scraped. they had purchased the slides already and it included a 4 lane mat racer....so im guessing a 4 lane mat racer behind raging around twist.

I would like to request that Pete and Dollywood look into maybe adding another set of pipeline slides like wild river falls that are tanslucent. I really like the amazoom slide at Holiday World that is translucent. It just provides a different feel and it would be another set of slides to keep people busy. Especially the teens that want to go around and ride all the slides and then be done. Maybe if they do the octopus racer those entry slides could be translucent this year. It just provides an airy open feel vs the closed in feeling.

If I can recall my memery the slides that are above the lazy river ride next to ragin river rapids?, I belive the land that is next to them at its right would be a good place for the new attraction since that path that goes between the butteryfly and those slides is a dead end.

Did Make that clear for every one to understand? sorry if I confuse you.

Coastercraze,
that is what i was thinking about. The land is there, the pathway is there so i looks like it would work good.

Hmmm, thats a thought. I don't think it would be any more cramped there than by Swift Water Run. It will be good to know, hopefully "soon" will be this week. We got Holiday World's news this week so mabe Dollywood's Splash Country will be this next week. I still think it will be racer slides. I had never ridden the ones at HW so I made it a point to ride them Friday when I went. They are quite fun! However, it was the only thing without a wait so I would also say its a more plain less popular slide compared to the others. All the other slides had waits. I had to wait in line for Bakuli the bowl and even longer for Zinga the Tornado. I will just be so happy to finally know what we are getting, lol. Is it normal to be 39 years old and excited about hearing a water park announcement? lol
