Dollywood's Splash Country 2010

I thought it wouldn't hurt to start this thread! I am so hoping they will do a tornado slide for 2010. Hopefully one with a lengthy tunnel. I also think if there are four person rafts they should be on a conveyor. One or two person rafts are okay to carry. I don't know that I've seen a tornado slide that can only accomadate a single rider. However they do it, a Splash Country tornado slide would rock!

Yes! Why else would they be the most popular proslide item! They outsell bowls if I am not mistaken and Splash Country got Swiftwater Run. The drop into that funnel is more thrilling than the drop into the bowl. I suppose its because as you come out of the bowl you go round and round whereas in the Tornado you drop straight down and immediately go up then down then up. I know Zinga at Holiday World takes my stomach more than Bakuli. I do like the going down the drain effect of the bowls though, thats cool.

I think they need something different like a super slide, they could theme it up as smokie mountainside race way, thats just my take on it.

I would like to see Dollywood partner with Schlitterbahn and try to break the record for the worlds longest lazy/adventure river.

It wouldn't be intense or Extreme, But it would be fun.

I would rather like to see Splash Country to be the first waterpark in the South East US (outside of Florida) to get a real intense and thrilling Water Coaster (other than Disney's Typhoon Lagoon which has Crush N Gush)! It could be called something like "Mountain Water Climber" or "Water Mountain".

I'll have to agree there. SFWW's Tornado's first drop is one of the best drops on any waterslide I've been on. The funnel is pretty cool too.

It just looks so lame, you drop into a funnel and go back and forward twice and then drop into a pool. I'd like to see them be the first water park that has some sort of adventure with twist and drops and then the finale with dropping into the funnel.

A Water Coaster sounds cool too!

They make such a combo called a Tornado Alley or Tornado Tantrum. That would be great. If they ever combined the Tornado and a Bowl in one slide would also be cool. I also agree a water coaster would be cool.

I have this on my mind for a couple of years now, is very original, I think Dollywoods Splash country could open a first of its kind drop tower for a water park, the ride is just like a normal drop tower ride except at the end, your dropped into pool of water! I think it sounds different, whats your thoughts on this?

I am not a big fan of drop towers period but that's just me. Just give me a tornado, water coaster, or another lazy river and I'm happy

I am curious why you think a Tornado ride is so good.

You see the pool of water would be under the loading station, when the ride starts the station drops from under you, the lifeguards would be on special station platforms thats stationary. The loading dock would be some kind of plastic mesh surface, where you see the water below.

^Interesting concept. I'm sure someone some where could make that concept work.

IMO Tornado vs Bowl I pick Tornado, though I think about half the Tornado's structure isn't necessary but a cool visual none the less. Now what I would be absolutely thrilled with Splash Country getting would be of course a water coaster. More so a terrain water coaster, has that really even been done yet? Possibly even do one with a lift section so you could use that opportunity to add some theming, the holographic mist is pretty cool stuff.

But hey Pete here's an idea I've been screaming for some time at all water parks. There's a pretty cool platform space behind the wave pool, seems like a great place to have live entertainment.

Pete,
Tornados are just flat thrilling, it would be more so if it was in Tantrum style. The drop into a Tornado is very thrilling, more so than many coasters. Combine that with a long tunnel before to get you to the Tornado and then a long tunnel out and you have the making of a great ride. They are also visually impressive. I'm sure you've seen Wilderness Resort's Tornado lit up in Severville, that is really cool! Even during the day its impressive. In addition it is just a basic very popular water park ride. I am all for doing unique stuff but don't you at least have to cover the basics too? Maybe you guys can see how it has went over at Wild Adventures. I bet it has went over well. I hope I haven't come across as pushy on the subject. I love Zinga at Holiday World. I read where you went there on Paula's Facebook page. Did you ride Zinga? If you did I bet it was thrilling! Splash Country just needs to go the extra mile and do the Tantrum. One final point, taking advantage of the mountains it should cost less because the slides can hug the mountains and not require tall supports that many places have to build. I suppose you just have to pick the right spot! Thanks for listening.

yeah, I thought that concept is good too!

You know they could put in a master blaster type ride and call it the Canyon Blaster!! It even has a ring to the name.

There is that type of tornado slide at pretty much every Great Wolf Lodge. The onnly fun part of the ride is the straight down drop. Then like the main "tornado" is stupid and retarded. I mean you just go up the edges of the slide thats all. And the waiting time is outragious. Well its like 4 people per 3 minutes. Thats why i hate those type of rides. I mean Fire Tower Falls is the only thing that i really want to go on at splash country

That name reminds me of that custom family coaster at SFOG... Wile E. Coyote Canyon Blaster. How about Valley Blast Climb... That's a mouthful.

Well I went to DW and DWSC this weekend and had a blast. I still belive a tornado slide would be great. However, I also see the need for a second lazy river. I always wondered why Splashin Safari had two lazy rivers but I know now! I went to SC on Friday and Saturday. Both days you pretty much had to fight for a tube to get on the lazy river. Especially Saturday. The place was packed Saturday. I gave up and skipped the lazy river. I realized again why I try to avoid theme parks on Saturdays. I bet the lazy river is the most popular attraction at any water park. It is fun for old and young alike. Since Splashin Safari has two lazy rivers I have never had to wait for a tube, even on Saturdays. They have been almost full but never totally full like SC was this weekend.

I stayed at SC on Saturday just long enough to ride all four of the Wild River Falls slides. They are my favorites. All the tubes were taken for those slides too but once you got a tube from someone getting off the slides, the line moved swiftly. I was quite impressed. The tube wait for Swift Water Run took about as long as the line waiting to ride the slide but again I was impressed with how the line went fairly fast. I wonder if adding more tubes would help or if they have that planned somehow for the line length?

I look forward to seeing how they develop the water park more. Especially the mountain side between Cascades and Mountain Scream. I think the park does need more attractions to spread out the crowd so the wait isn't as bad for slides (on busy days that is, but that would help attract more folks for weekdays too I think). But again, I didn't think the wait was too long. I tend to be more patient than most though. I was just excited to see the lot practically full. The parking improvements are paying off I think. A second lazy river and a tornado slide would fit in nicely in my humble opinion. I just wish the park could stay open more than three months of the year but what can you do about weather? I hope to go at least one more time to SC before it closes for the year. Sorry if this was alittle choppy I had to rush!

I also went to Splash Country on Saturday. It was very packed! Probably the largest crowd I have seen there all season. I think it took my family about 10 minutes to get a raft for each of us for the lazy river, which is actually a pretty long wait for a lazy river. Fire Tower Falls had a HUGE line. Never seen it with a line that long. Just the whole place was so crowded.

I myself would love to ride a tornado slide because the one at that resort looks pretty dang fun!

CoasterCraze, they already have slides where you drop into pools of water from above and slides where you stand on a platform and get dropped.
Your idea isn't exactly anything new.

Step 1. Open ProSlide Catalogue
Step 2. Order a slide not currently at park
Step 3. Build slides
Step 4. Have happy guests

The end

hmm i think they need something REALLY REALLY exciting and different. I have no suggestions cause i've only been to one waterpark... but it'd be neat to see something big.
