| Cedar Point 2011
When I was at Cedar Point this year, I heard a rumor from a Demon Drop Ride Op that Demon Drop and Disaster Transport were going to be pulled out for the next major coaster. I think it kind of makes sense given that CP has built in the middle of the park with TTD and in the back with Maverick and now Shoot the Rapids. Is it time for the front of the park to get some TLC?? This is an old rumor for sure, but it might be credible.

3 days after the 2010 announcement, and you're already looking towards 2011?! Come on, dude...

I was going to say the same thing when I saw this pop up. 2011 the worlds first combo. they will combine demon drop and dt into one majorly stupid and flawed ride. (jk)

Cedar Point has tried to sell Demon Drop publicly so that's no surprise. As for Disaster Transport, I don't think that there has been any news that Cedar Point is looking to remove it. This rumor has been around for a while. And a ride op making $7/hr saying makes it no more or less credible now.

haha.....this is quite early to pop up! In all honesty, I dont see Disaster Transport going anywhere. Rumors are what they are...rumors. Im sure it'll stay for several reasons (alot of people already know the reasons so I wont list them...but if you do want them, then I shall list). Demon Drop....yeah, that may go...it, however, has been sale since the 2005 season and hasnt been bought. I'd like to see it stay actually (I love it, and even more than Power Tower seeing as its a true free-fall). That and I think only 6 of these ride types are operating today. There was that rumor posted on Screamscape about the CGA GCI Woodie coming to Cedar Point. According to the sketches on there, Demon Drop & Disaster Transport could stay and the coaster could go in there (just reverse the turn around the Space Spiral). Part of it would go into the employee parking lot. You would be surprised with how much room Cedar Point really has to mess with (they really arent desperate for land at all)

Last time they didn't get a roller coaster for four years, they got Maverick. And the time before that, Millie. I've got my fingers crossed for something awesome, plus they need the coaster count again, SFMM will tie them in 2010.

I'm with everyone else here that it is a little early for this. But whatever, it's just rumors. Yes, Demon Drop may go, as everyone else has said. It's been up for sale for almost 5 years and Intamin 1st Gen. drop towers are dying out. Quote:

I just have a problem with the "source". Ride ops are dumb, they don't know anything. They'll tell you what you want to hear. The guy to listen to is the Dippin Dots guy.

^Not all ride ops are dumb. Some of them are, but not all of them. I do, however, agree that the Dippin Dots guys sometimes know more than most ride ops.

Who cares if this is early? Just trying to look towards the future.

Smooth move cyberwolf, you get the award for starting what will probably be the biggest thread of next year. With the wait of 4 years and the new additions at KD and CW, I see something big for the year after next year...

One should keep in mind that the amount of coasters a park has could be just as "amusing" as the VARIETY of coasters in said park. Disaster Transport is unique (and only a couple of others exist) and therefore is important to Cedat Point. Whether or not an individual likes or dislikes that ride, where else can you go to experience the feeling your bowling ball has going in the gutter? (I happen to enjoy the ride - just because it's different). 2011 will probably be a slow year - it all depends on the economy. Cedar Fair is so spread out now that the money gets spent different ways than it used to. After a 10 million $ investment in 2010, another park will get some money thrown their way in 2011. Of course, these are only my own gut thoughts - I know better than to put any stock in the ride opps or the Dippin Dots personnel. |

| Cedar Fair does not "pool" their money like Six Flags. Each park has their own account. Money from Cedar Point will not be spent on a ride at Carowinds and vice versa. This is why Cedar Fair has been able to weather rough economic times and debt whereas Six Flags has not.
