When is Busch Gardens Williamsburg going to expand and get a new ride?

When will we know what is going to replace The Big Bad Wolf popular suspended coaster ride in the near future? And when will we see The Big Bad Wolf be taken down and demolished to make room for probably a new country and a new ride....coaster maybe? Is 2010 the year?

I would love an update worthy of the Screamscape. Would love someone to break it.

Griffon has the veil of newness to it so they could still ride that for a couple years. That empty Drachen Fire void in that corner has been hole exposed for quite awhile though. I'd like to be surprised with a wooden coaster.

ThrillRide25 welcome to TN, but we don't have inside knowledge of what the park will do.

When they are ready, they will announce their plans if and when they add a new ride.

At this point, I can't see anything major happening in 2010 since nothing has been announced yet and Griffon was announced in what, July?

To answer your question, they will get one next Thursday.

Everytime I ride a coaster, it valleys. I've never been on a stalled coaster or had one roll back (except Wicked Twister and what was Superman: Ultimate Escape, which does that by design).

2010 will be a rebuilding year, don't expect to see a new ride just yet. In 2011 though, BGT will be getting a new coaster, from a company most people will be shocked to hear Busch working with. Perhaps the two parks will be getting similar rides that year?

Unlike Six Flags, I think Busch Gardens has caught on to the fact that Vekoma makes crappy rides. I would be truly shocked if they went with them. If they are going to go with a shocker, it will be Intamin, Gerstlauer, or Maurer Sohne because neither park has a coaster made by them.

What if they recycled a genre and went with Vekoma for a suspended? They did make those new trains for Vampire at Chessington. NITRO is right about using Intamin, Gerstlauer, or Maurer Sohne. I might throw up if it's Intamin but then it could yield a ball coaster. Oh wait a minute: an Intamin hybrid woodie.

I say a country would be good for the park but Blackstone group may not be good as a company as the last owners (Not Inbev) on creating a great park that busch gardens have been

Well i went this year to the park and wasn't that impress. It was a good park and beautiful but it didn't seem as good as my friends said it was when they went 8 years ago. But that may be so they can drop the value of the park in order to sell out. But it's a waiting game to see what will happen. We as customers can only make it successful or not but it depends on if they can still give us enjoyment. Just look at Parc management. Some parks doing ok but others are failing

Blackstone owning the Busch parks is completely irrelevant to the futures of the parks. Blackstone is really just the new financial backing to the company; the parks still manage themselves.

sure it is they can do what they want with them if they want to sell sea world portion off or keep it or if they want to put new rides in or take them out. The park can manage financially without an owner but there still needs to be a person to direct it to the future.

Again, Busch's prior management team(s) is more than capable of doing this, and they have been doing so all along. Blackstone supplies the financing for those future plans. Blackstone is not, I repeat, not a management group. They are an investment and financial advisory firm, just look at their website, The Blackstone Group . As well, while Merlin Ent. may be a part of Blackstone, remember that Busch was purchased directly by Blackstone, not by Merlin, and therefore has no affiliation with Merlin Ent.

Even that said, all of the Busch people must justify money expenditures to the financial aspect as they ( Blackstone ) controls capital flow, so to assume they dont run the show is still foolish.

I wouldn't necessarily say they "run the show", although it is an inevitable fact that they control all the aspects of the budget. Yes, there will be certain plans of Busch that Blackstone will turn down, but this is no different from the investors from the Busch ownership prior to the InBev/Blackstone sales.

BBW is going to be demolished. 60 feet of track, some signage, some trains, signage, and maybe some other stuff is being donated to the National Roller Coaster Museum.

There is no chance. They're done with the ride because it costs too much to maintain. Unfortunately, the way the Arrow suspended coasters were built, they can't handle massive amounts of swinging. Vortex at CW will probably remain the most intense suspended coaster to survive long term. (More than 30 years.) all the great ones - Eagle's Fortress, the Bat, and now BBW are gone because they are so intense - IE they became mechanical nightmares for the people trying to maintain the ride, even though they were still safe.

^Your statement's a bit funny worded, please correct me if I am mistaken. Are you suggesting that Vortex is 30-some years old? If that's the case, you are mistaken. But I'm sure you mean that it may live to see the age of 30 and beyond.

On a similar note, isn't Kings Island's Flight Deck an exact clone of Canada's Vortex? If that is the case, I would then assume that both rides will eventually have a similar life span.

I was going to bring up the same thing and Vortex at Wonderland has a longgggggggggg ways to go before it is 30 years old. You are talking about the year 2021. A lot can happen within that time and honestly by then I see VERY little Arrow coasters out there still up... to include Nessie. Arrow coasters shelf life is getting shorter and shorter with smoother manufactorers out there. A bankrupt (and liquidated) company simply can't compete with other coaster designers who are booming. Then the fact that suspended coasters are family friendly, but not exactly thrilling. If a park wants a new coaster, but is landlocked, chances are that an Arrow coaster is coming out of the park.

Vekoma will never make a suspended coaster as good as Big Bad Wolf or The Bat.

We haven't seen Vekoma make a suspended non inverting coaster outside of the family range that would be close to Big Bad Wolf's style but it's not out of the question. They're still an option. There is a real custom Vekoma family suspended in Europe. I would like to see that POV/footage video.

First, remember that Vekoma's SLCs aren't really "suspended" coasters, although Vekoma insists on calling them that. As well, while Vekoma may not have made a terrain-hugging suspended coaster matching the intensity of Big Bad Wolf, there are several full-scale suspended coasters Vekoma has put out, albeit the layouts more closely resemble Arrow's Hayabusa in Japan.

We were there for Christmastown yesterday, major sections of track are gone (but the lift hill is still there) and there are yellow machines down in the village among scattered track and scenery debris. Got a pair of the $45 stuffed wolves for $5 each. The sign with the light up eyes is gone too.

You could see it all from the Autobahn queue area, and there were a lot of people shocked and disappointed.
