| SFMM Bizarro?
I heard Superman The Escape might get a Bizarro side or completely become Bizarro. I would think Scream should become Bizarro. Then you could keep the same paint scheme but just splatter paint all over the parking lot below to add to the theming of the coaster.

Ugh I hope they don't do that to Superman. I'm all for Scream getting the makeover, because I do remember last year or the year before they tested it with music. I don't really like the back of the train has only two seats just for the audio. If they could get Superman running consistently...well then that would be a miracle!

Has Superman EVER run consistently? Both times I have been there, one side was closed like usual. I hear that is a normal occurence too. If they were to retheme Superman in anyway, they might want to work out the kinks to that ride first. THAT would be money well spent and not the spending just to paint an unreliable ride. Scream on the other hand I can see being rethemed to Bizarro though.

Scream! would fit as Bizarro being just opposite of Superman:The Escape.

If they could get both sides working, I'd like a Superman vs. Bizarro theme. Bizarro is kinda funny to me though that Six Flags chose him. From my years reading comics and watching the DC/Marvel animated shows and such Bizarro has always seemed to be a pretty minor villain in the Superman universe. Doomsday might have been a better choice. He even showed up on Smallville last year.

Does anyone know why Superman never runs on full launch power anymore? My guess is power savings. Can someone confirm that? |

I guess they lack a comic book guy in the marketing department.

Like some new paint and flames is going to make any ride any better?

Tim burkhart told us at WCB that he could launch the ride at full speed however the maintanance issues would increase. He said by slowing the ride down they are able to ensure that the ride will be open longer and with less downtime. Not a power problem as it relates to cost but more of a wear and tear thing

^Just to add, the ride can actually get up over 100 MPH and is built to withstand those speeds (the wear and tear from 88 MPH to 100 MPH is not that significant), the main problem is the computer and magnet system that is set up on the ride. As the car picks up speed and is flying by the magnets, the computers have a tendency to "lose" the car as the timing of the magnet firing increases, and the ride shuts down. They can launch a car at 100+ MPH fine for about 3 cycles, but eventually the computers misfire, timing gets messed up and maintenance has to come out and reset it. In order to avoid this frequent downtime, they've slowed the ride down so the firing between magnets is not so fast, and the tendency for the computer system to "lose" the car has decreased. But overall, I agree with most people on here, S:TE NEEDS a rehab to run like it was supposed to before the park does any kind of "retheme" to the ride (which SF won't ever do). It might cost a good $5-10 Million to upgrade the computer/magnet system, but I really think they should, as they already have an existing structure and the potential for an awesome ride (I've not really been a big fan of the ride since it seems lame to me that it only hits 87/88 and barely makes it halfway up the tower). If the ride was billed to run like it was supposed to, it would provide a completely different experience. Also, I'm pretty sure they can run both sides at the same time these days, but I think it has to do with the pain in the butt daily inspections (walking/testing both sides) and that it doubles the number of employees who must run the ride. Doubt Superman The Escape will ever get a major rehab. Not with so many newer coaster that have a lot more pull. as for Scream that coaster could use some themeing. I can see the Twisted world of bizaro splitting the fabric of time and space turning things on end and turning the parking lot into grass. On a serious not, What would they add for themeing. i think they woudl have to dump the flames. they already had them on 2 coasters. so it's a bit over used in the park.

It's choose your poison: we've seen reliability, comfort issues with the air launch, hydraulic, and this type of coaster. The others may be faster but we've seen the issues with the other types of launches. Is this a chance this could come back to favor? The ride was shaky on Hypersonic, Kingda Ka just after coming off of disengaging the cable. Xccelerator, Kingda Ka, and Top Thrill Dragster have snapped cables with various degrees of after effects. Then we have the price of electricity with this ride and the price of maintenance with all the rides. Scream! with the present track colors, you could just splatter paint all over the parking lot like it's a Nickelodeon themed coaster, throw junk like Batman's infield/cut outs. There could be a chance to overlook the asphalt with a Bizarro retheme.

I think it would be an awesome investment to re-vamp the entire ride. If they can consistently get thing to break 100, and perhaps clip those magnets up at the top of the tower from time to time AND run both sides, the ride would be completely different. With a station re-vamp, a repainting of the ride (which would be awesome if they painted it grey again) and some editions (like the paintings that used to be on the right side of the exit alley across from the photo booths), and new signs and lights...they could market it well and the ride could be a reason to visit the park again. Hell, it's one of only 4 coasters to hit 100 MPH, and in the top 3 of height. There's nothing like those LIM's jolting on and shooting you out...to me the launch is much quicker than hydraulics so much that I prefer it. |

| Actually it is one of 5 coasters (and a 6th one that is suspect) that can reach that speed. But speaking of which, WHAT in the world is going on with Ring Racer? All this hype and the thing still is not running. And it surely is not going to truly take Kingda Ka's crown if it can't consistently break it's speed record. I know they had problems with the launch (no surprise there), but seriously it was talked about for so long and suddenly dropped off the radar screen.
