I guess that would work... it is kind of a misleading hint if thats the case though, but then again, the hints aren't supposed to tell you what the ride is. They are just to get your brain thinking and getting you anxious towards the announcement.

I am just glad Dollywood gives out hints, KD doesn't do that at all, the only reason KD fans knew we were getting an Intamin giga last summer was that there was mammoth red track and gigantic yellow supports in the parking lot that had labels on them that said "INTAMIN GIGA".

First of all, thanks too for all your information and input timbercanyon! I have also observed that some of the special effects seem to be off-key on the Mystery Mine lately. It's nice to have yet another direct-from-Dollywood resource on here. Pete and all of the Dollywood staff are the best in the industry (IMO) and have done an OUTSTANDING job with the 25th Anniversary Celebration this year!!!

I'm sticking with the guess of the S&S Giant Swing, too. Usually when Screamscape posts something about a park, it's going to be a pretty solid rumor. If it's true about the giant swing, then the next question is...Where will it go? Will it be goodbye forever, unreliable Timber Tower? I highly doubt it. I have a theory where it may go: Dreamland Forest.

If you go to dollywood.com and click on the ride/attraction descriptions for either the Slidewinder, the tiny tots playground area, or the Dreamland Forest Treehouse, you will notice that all three of these attractions seem to be closing up for the year after Labor Day weekend on September 6.
http://www.dollywood.com/ride-q66-Dreamland_Forest_Treehouse.aspx

This seems a bit earlier then the usual late September closing. Could it be that the whole area/land will be closing after Labor Day weekend or even before then to undergo construction for a major new transformation for next year? We will see...stay tuned fellow Dollywood Fans!

Very very very NICE catch DollyWould! We have mentioned on here a few times of the possible transformation of that area with a Giant Swing, now this just leads us to more speculating upon that idea! IMO, there is not enough room for a Giant Swing in Wilderness Pass, so unless they expand the park, I could possibly see it going in Dreamland Forest.

Also, the DF Tiny Tots Playground is closing down on Sept. 6th. That doesn't involve water does it? If not, why would they shut that down as well? Or do they usually close the whole area at once normally? I haven't paid much attention to it in recent years.

If they remove part of DF, I think the park would be fine because of the recent additions of Beaver Creek, Little Loggers Landing, River Battle (all ages can ride that), and AM/Camp Teachittoome, which all of those have some similarities of DF.

Dang, you guys do your homework. Very nice theories and detective work. Just a couple more weeks and we will see if you guys can say "I told you so" or will it be "wow, I didn't see that coming!"

I will say this, Mountain Slidewinder ain't going anywhere. It's a Dollywood classic!

I hope Adventure Mountain won't be closed for Dollywood nights! Does anyone know if the special $25 dollar admission ticket thing for Dollywood nights can be upgraded to a season pass?

This isn't going to be a very surprising year for anyone... that's for sure.

Timbercanyon, about MM's effect. Can we please get someone to sync the video??? It's been off all season unless they've fixed it recently! Thanks

Heck we were supposed to get an announcement on the 17th of June too!

Oh, and I loved the 25th Anniversary Retrospective video posted on Facebook earlier, Pete.

The retrospective was similar to the 25th Anniversary book that they are selling around the park. I bought one on my last trip. I think they are a good deal, only 5 bucks for a year-per-page book which is good for memories and reference. BTW, I forgot to mention how cool I found the 25th Anniversary Hall Of Memories in Craftman's Valley. It was neat seeing the timeline along with all the other neat things from the parks past. I recommend anyone that goes to the park to walk through it when they are in Craftman's Valley.

9 days until the MAJOR announcement!

Is the chin scratcher concerning Splash Country's 2011 addition perhaps? Could we possibly get a hint for the water park next year, please?

IMO, Splash Country needs to develop the area beside the Cascades because the area seems like a "dead end" back there, and I never go back there because of that. The Cascades really doesn't have an appeal for me, but if they get a new thrilling attraction back there, I would probably actually chill in the Cascades.

But please, nothing as thrilling as Fire Tower Falls, AHHH!!! I would rather ride coasters like 305, Dragster, and MF before I do that again... I have ridden all 3 of them and IMO they aren't as scary as Fire Tower Falls. Me and straight down body slides do not get along, at all.

They shouldve put the 2011 attraction on the map to mess with us, that would have been pretty funny, knowing that the ride was on the map the whole time we were here speculating... Just kidding of course...

BTW, I saw the Dollywood Vacations logo on the map and it reminded me... If any of you are ever bored in Pigeon Forge, drive up to Starr Crest Resort (behind Dollywood). The views are amazing of the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, but even better you can see bits and pieces of Dollywood! You can see Tennessee Tornado when cresting the lift and going around the curve before the tunnel, a little of Wilderness Pass, and the back of Mystery Mines shaft. For some reason, you cannot see the train loop? But you can hear the train whistle from anywhere in the resort. Our cabin we stayed in last year was in Starr Crest Resort, but unfortunately, it was on the opposite side of the Dollywood views, but it did have great views of Mt. Leconte and heard the whistle all week long!

It looks like the only rides that will not be available for Dollywood Nights is the Slide and DareDevil. Anybody want to come do some night riding at Dollywood?

^^^Why no Daredevil Falls durning Dollywood Nights? It's one of my favs! It has a fairly short walk to the loading area and isn't really that "hilly" once you get in the que.

I'm going to try to make it up there at least one of those nights. I'm really excited about getting to ride the coasters in the dark!

Let's all try to make an effort to visit sometime that week and support Dollywood with their extended hour experience. By then we will all know what 2011 has instore for us at DW!!! Hopefully there will be some new signage with concept art posted at the future ride's location!!!

Who knows, if Dollywood Nights is successful for them, maybe they will permanetly extend the Summer operating hours next year. I could easily see them being open until 10pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Wouldn't that be something else great to look forward to in 2011? And convenient too...LOL!

I seriously think Dollywood should remain open until 10 4th of July week. The last two years over 4th of July week the park was PACKED, last year the parking lot was actually full! Atleast thats what the workers on Daredevil Falls said... Then they could be open on Friday and Saturday nights the rest of the summer.

^Well they can't go left at the cascades but they certainly could go back I bet if it is their property. Those retreats people rent are back there but they could find a way around them. I really have no idea what Splash Country might be getting. I want something scary though. Or something really unique. Btw the new ride at Splash Country is actually pretty fun. All the little kids love it! (little as in tall enough to ride it haha)
I think I'm gonna go to one of the Dollywood nights! I might just head over after work one night. But I do agree that'd be cool if they did it on Friday and Saturdays throughout the summer.
Random fact: Today at Splash Country there were over 7,800 people which is a record for the last few years!

Splash Country should look into getting a water coaster similar to Wildebeest at Holiday World within the next couple years. The ride has been getting incredible reviews, and it seems like it would be a good family ride, but still be thrilling at the same time. I hope Splash Country keeps getting raft rides, because body slides are not enjoyable to me.

I'm right there with you on your opinion of body slides. I hate them. I'd love to see a water coaster, but I'd also like to be able to try out a tornado slide of some sort at DSC next year.

If the Slidewinder ever gets the boot at DW, I really hope they move it to DSC. It's an icon, you just can't get rid of it.

But yes, I think DSC could do wonders with a water roller coaster. It has the terrain and everything! This should be a big year for them, right? I mean, all they got this year was SRR, which was already bought anyway. They got it from the GA park that didn't make it. Right?
