Sfa 2003

Well, right now it seems that SFA won't be getting any major new rides for 2002, but one thing for 2003 is already co0nfirmed believe it or not. Small is it may be, the Lo-Q system being installed in 2003 may be a sign of something BIG to come. It just seems so odd that SFA and SFMM would have to wait until 2003 to get the system, otherwise. It's already been tested and proven to be a big success, so why else wait until 2003, for SFMM especially? Then, the next logical question would be what will we get. I think I've narrowed it down to three options: 1) were going to get the formerly planned B&M Standup 2) were going to get the minetrain/wildmouse coaster already on the planning board list 3) we could get an Arrow 4D. This last option only came up recently when I heard that Arrow plans to build 2 more 4Ds in 2003. SFA, being on the other side of the contenent from the only currently existing 4D, would be a prime location. Plus if it's mearly an X clone it fits two of the things the park is known for, being required to build rides no taller than 200' and building lots of clones. Anyway, either the Standup (or any other B&M coaster for that matter) or the 4D would be great with me, I just hope it is one of those two. Ohh ya, an original coaster would be nice too!

we will get original coasters when SFA becomes a larger park. I actually think we will get the mouse and a 4d. mouses cost very cheap. so the 4d is not ruled out. I seriosly hope its a 4-d. a bm stand up would be ok but, im not a fan of stand ups, they hurt the genitals sometimes, if you know what i mean guys.

This should be in rumors.

But I'll add my two cents anyway.

A 4D at SFA in 2003 is a huge possibility. Not many SF parks have enough room to fit a 4D; SFA is one of them however.
A B&M standup is also possible too I guess. But standups seem so out of fashion now. And since SFA is the land of the clones, what stand up coaster would they clone for the park?
A wild mouse? A mine train? SFA would get a wild mouse on an off year; I don't think that they'd add Lo Q just for it. AS for a mine train, I don't think so. Arrow hasn't built one of these in year. I guess you could get Vekoma to do it though.
Only time will tell...

whether or not a park gets clone coasters isn't so much a factor of the park as it is what company's rides they get. Six Flags America has three Vekoma coasters (the clone masters), a mirror of the first Intamin megacoaster, and a clone LIM from Premier. But B&M doesn't usually crank out clones unless a park asks them to, since it's easy for them to create originals, so any B&M there would probably be an original. BTW, Roar at SFA was an original - it was Marine World that got the (near) copy. If you ask me, what Six Flags America really needs is a full well-trained staff, rides and stands that are opened when the park is, better traffic flow, and a freeze on price increases - not more attractions. They need to learn to operate well with what they have before they grow any more.

PS didn't I hear that Magic Mountain was one of the nine parks getting Lo-Q in 2002? I was sure they were.

what is lo q?
anyways.... i think that the B&M stand up wont happen. i wouldnt be suprised if we got a 4D, though i think that'll go to SFGADV. since we're not getting nething in big in 2002, i think that we'll get a big coaster in 2003. i wouldnt be suprised if we got some other type of B&M, but i cant see a stand up.

Well, we are slated to receive the mine coaster from the defunct Opryland. It is possible to come along with either the standup (which is unlikely) or the 4d coaster for 2003 to add on to the new 2002 midway area.

Yes, that would be the current location at this moment, but I learned that Six Flags or Premier Inc, the parent company, has placed the coasters from Opryland in Old Indiana for temporary storage. Hangman is working at Marine World as Kong. SFA is working on a new midway area that would be useful as a connector to the southwest corner to the backlot and place the Rock N Roll mine coaster and another 2003/2004 new coaster and a few new flats and a games arena to fill up that connector. It made a lot of sense to me. Arrow could update the mine coaster to make it a little better suited to the environment provided by the park. We will wait and see what the parks true intentions are.

another thing to conisder is they are only allowed to install one NEW coaster a year. the only reason they could put in two face as well as jokers jinx is that they took out python. so they replaced one ride, and added a new one. so if they do get somethign for 2003, it will be one new coaster unless they remove something ( the only thing i see being taken out is that pos mind eraser)

even though they said we wont get anything this year, maybe towards the end of the season they will build a mine or mouse, i think a mouse would be better, for variety in the park, especially since PKD got a mouse, so they need something to compete with richochet. But yeah a mouse or mine late this year, as usuall, then in 2003 a 4-d. Six flags america does need better staff and stuff, but that comes along during the year, you dont just plan that as the major thing. Also SFA needs coasters, because of the growing area and the demand.

I was there this past summer and, although I agree with you on traffic flow (dead end paths are frustrating), I thought the staff was excellent there (much better than other SF parks). I thought they moved everything right along and they kept the crowds well-behaved and orderly. As for price increases, we can't, on one hand, list the multi-million dollar rides we wish to see installed and, on the other hand, deny them the ability to recoup their expense and make some money. Capitalism: it's great and it sucks.

The mine train from Opryland is in storage, and so is Excalibur from Astroworld (it was supposed to be re-built at Frontier City, but never was). Either of those could be built relatively cheaply.

I think the logical expansion for the park is to build a path between Batwing and Mind Eraser, connecting two of those dead ends. There's enough room between them to build several rides, and it would be a good spot for a mine train or wild mouse.

Viper form SFOG or SFGADV would also fit in there...;)

I'm still ticked off that this park opens so late! SFGADV, BGW and PKD all open 1-2 week(s) earlier!
