In the parking lot there seem to be guard towers... but usually there's no one in them. What's up with this?

They have them at SFGADV also... I assume they are for security folks. I've never seen anyone in them.

I've seen people in them once or twice. They were security guards, and I guess they're only there to watch over the parking lot on crowded days. They may not even do this anymore though.

no, not really, they are just making it safer. i think that the park said that they will return people into the towers this season

i think they are there because sometimes people do illegal stuff (OMG!) in the parking lot, drink beer thn go inot the park, fights have accutually broken out over a nice parking spot close to the entrance on a very very crowded day. i was there.

Yea, they might be doing since all the September 11th stuff. I've heard a lot about gangs at SFOG causing trouble at nighttime. Is that true?

The towers have been in place looong before September 11th.

The towers you are referring to have been in place at SFGAM for the past 10 years or so. They are manned each and everyday the park is in operation. From the time the parking lot opens to the time the parking lot closes. They are looking for a number of different things. Things like, stalled cars, people breaking into cars, drinking in the lots, fights etc. As far as things at SFGAM after Sept 11, the only change so far is the closing of the entrance off of Washington Street. They will open it at night for people to exit, but it will not be available for people to enter there.

most parks have the towers but theyre only used on crowded days. if you say the park has a lot, only bout a quarter to half of them are gonna be used on regular days.
