| Kennywood operating hours
Kennywood's website is a bit sketchy about when they close, I dont know what it means when they say its a day to day decision, depending on crowd size. I'd guess they would close at sundown, which would kinda suck cuz no one cud get night rides on their fabulous coasters. But for all those who frequent Kennywood, on average about what time does the park close during mid august to late august?

They don't have a set close, and I've never been there when they close at sundown, the earliest they've closed when I've gone was 10:30. Last year I was there until 1:30, the park had a decent crowd too, it wasn't packed but it just never thinned out. Kennywood closes depending on the crowds, yet another reason why I absolutely love this park. :)

Kennywood is great at night, so I love it when they close late. Phantom Fright Nights were great last year, can't wait for it to start. You never know when the park is gonna close, they just get on the park PA system and announce what time they will close. It's a very unique characteristic.

I have gone to Kennywood 3 times this year and they have closed at 8, 10:30 and 11 when I have gone. Very interesting indeed. Also they may close the park if the weather seems to bad after the nor' easter last year it seems they are taking no chances.

I must pick good times to go then :) It must suck for the employees though, but most of them are college students who are just happy to get the extra money(I know tons of people that work there). And Phantom Fright Nights is amazing, I can't wait for this year, hopefully they'll have more rides open though. The Exterminator needs to be open this time.

Mary Lou Rosemeyer (Kennywood PR) told me that Lost Kennywood will remain closed for PFN, due to the lack of workers. (since a lot of them are monsters in the houses) However, Thunderbolt and Aero 360 will be open this year. Also, there is talk of them "haunting" Noah's Ark, which would be wicked cool.

My only advice pertaining to Kennywood is take in EVERYTHING(even the "little things"), stay after dark, and ride all the coasters in the backseat (although Thunderbolt is good in the front as well).
Originally posted by Hank I'm going next week - any recommendations?
I have been going to Kennywood before I was born and I found it is the only park where you can essentially do nothing but sit and look around and feel like you really did something special at the end of the day. As for the coasters, ride the Phantom first thing and the exit to the ride is in Lost Kennywood so that is a good chance to hit Exterminator and Pitt Fall before they acquire lines. Leave Lost Kennywood by going under the Phantom hitting T-Bolt then making your way down one of the midways to the lake and ride Jack Rabbit and Racer. Aero 360, Noah's Ark, and the Old Mill are must rides as far as non-coaster rides go. Other than that ride as you please and make sure you eat the Potato Patch fries. I like to go to Small Fries in Lost Kennywood because they have other foods too and shorter lines. Other than that the other places have variations of fries that are okay but not great like Potato Patch. Hope some of that helped, have a good trip. |

Anybody else having problems seeing the banner image on their website? I can see the Flash intro, the sidebar, and all the info, but the Kennywood image doesn't appear for me.
