Well, as Rider said, this needs to be in the American Parks section. I'll move it. |

Neither. SFMM. THEY have them sot coasters now...although "capital" doesnt necessarily mean most, i think it might matter on what park peeps think of when they think rollercoaster and i think that matters whether you live in ohio, california, or england....hmmmm....

Actually, they don't. X and Deja Vu haven't been finished yet. |

Well, if they're already in the process of being built, they are certainly most likely to become actual operating rides @ the park. So they do count. It's not like a park just announces it and drops the plans. Deja Vu is complete, but has its queue in need of completion, as well as the need for testing. X is 1/4 finished and will no doubt be open by this season.

i don't consider either the roller coaster capital of the world. to be the roller coaster capital you need good steels as well as good woods. IMHO the roller coaster capital of the world is SFOG because they have a good viriety of rides and coasters

Even though they do not have the most coasters, one of Kennywood's slogans has been "Coaster Capital of the World" for over 50 years now. |

I can hear the Kennywood commercial jingle in my head. "Kennywood, the roller coaster capital of the world". Any park's marketing department could probably find some cause to call itself that. Kennywood because they have the most coasters registered as historic landmarks. Magic Mountain becaus ethey have the most mountains. Pick a cause and use the phrase. It really doenst mean anything!

Did anyone read the original question? Rider asked which is the roller coaster capitol of the world, Cedar Point or Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Nowhere in his post did he mention Magic Mountain. This war is unbelievable.

Even though SFMM wasn't included in the original question I think it should be. As of right now I think CP should be called the Roller Coaster capitol of the world. Not until SFMM actually has all of its coasters running will it be crowned as the Roller Coaster Capitol of the World.

Has anyone else besides me ever thought that X may not even open this summer? They havent even finished the first drop and its coming to the end of June. If the rest of the ride is built at this pace, then they wont complete the circut until August. They still have to make the station an queue. Since X is a prototype it probably will have a bunch a problems. The way X runs they will have to test it a bunch of times before they even let anyone on. I'll bet it doesnt open until Septemeber unless they pick up the pace on construction.

In response to the original question, Cedar Point is the roller coaster capital of the world, easily beating out Blackpool. The only area where BPB wins out is wooden coasters.

Was it said that sheer number determined capital? CP was known as America's rollercoast. Kennywood has been advertising Roller Coaster Capital of the World for about 20 years. Any park beat that? Anyone see Kennywood Memories and see the Voice of Kennywood? "Enjoy the rest of your day here at the Roller Coaster..."

Their is no official roller coaster capital of the world, however, I think you need a good assortment of steel, launched, and wooden coasters, so I think PKD should be the coaster capital of the world.

I agree with Anaconda...PKD is arguably the Rollercoaster Capital Of The East Coast, and with a hypercoaster, it would also arguably be the Rollercoaster Capital Of The World, if it isnt already. (Notice I said arguably)

CP is still the roller coaster capital of the world because SFMM new coasters aren't running yet, not to mention they aren't complete. So if Cedar Point just builds one more coaster during the off season, they will be tied.

It's definately Cedar Point... and has been for many years.
