CP off-season pics!

Check out these off-season pics of CP. I'm not really sure if I like Iron Dragons color scheme, it will take some getting used to. Do you think it will have the same name? Maybe it will tie in with some kind of racing theme like Dragster, I dont know.

The pics:

Judging by the pics, ID will look like crap. Why do you think the name will change just b/c the colors did? When the Wildcat's colors were changed to that awful scheme it is now, the name did not change.

Thats the first time i have seen the new ID colors and i have to say it's not a very good color scheme. Brighter but not as nice as the old colors. They should have just re-painted ID instead of changing colors.

They should have kept the colors the same because the new colors look ugly.

Iron Dragon looked better with the old Red and White going through the lagoon. The mist blended in with the white supports looked good.

How exactly can you give the iron dragon a racing theme? Is it even possible?

Sure CP can give Iron Dragon a racing theme. At the top of each lift hill, CP can add those Red --> Green lights. At the bottom of the 1st hill they can have a radar gun that may---just may---register 40mph if the wind blows a certain way. CP can add one of those "Finish" signs as the train re-enters the station.

Iron Dragon would totally rock!!!

I think they had a little too much paint left over from Dragster. ;)

Really though, what were they thinking? Why paint two rides that can be visible from the same area identical colors? I know it's to try and "brighten up the midway" a bit and draw more attention to Iron Dragon, but the I am sure there are other ways to do so.

I think green supports with a red track would have looked better. At least green/red would have maintained a "dragon" color scheme without resembling TTD.

*smacks Magnum Robert*

That was for being stupid at Louie's, and well, being a pompus a--. Just kidding, you know I love you ^_^ (SARCASM). Heehee... please don't kill me...

I personally love the paintjob, and think it works well in the area that it's in. ONE: bright paint on the ID/Wildcat midway, and TWO: matching color schemes between ID, Mantis, and TTD.

I'll save my final thoughts, observations, and conclusions until I actually see it for myself when I process in for work on the 12th... *excited*

Now, I wish there were some nice shots of Corkscrew though... I want to see the finished product (it was only half done when I left *sniff*). *drool*

It's nice that ID got new paint job, as it needed it, but the colors are just too much. When they said it would be painted to complement TTD I thought that meant to make it stand out or contrast TTD, but not copy TTD.

Just imagine if they decide to keep the yellow-red theme going in CP by re-painting MXL, MF, Gemini, Corkscrew, Mean Streak, etc. I think I'd go blind, if not from the brightness of all the yellow then definitely from gouging my eyes out.

Magnum just got repainted, as did Corkscrew... and uhm, why would they paint a wooden coaster, and for Gemini why would they paint the steel tubes (they're just plain old unpainted tubes). I believe the only rides that are due for a painting are Raptor, and uhm, well... Raptor... but didn't that get painted a few years ago?

Yes, Raptor did get a paint job a few years back. Hopefully next time, Raptor will be painted yellow (supports) and red (track).

I think that would work well for Raptor. ONE: it would be a nice bright color (who really wants green???) and TWO: matching color schemes between TTD, Mantis, and ID. ;)

so *smack* right back at ya!! ;)

Probably b/c there's a relatively large ride a few feet away with the exact same color scheme.

Ha Ha, I was just kidding leeloo1953 but thanks anyways.

Magnum Robert, that why I like the new colors on it so much, it will help bring the coaster back alive and will help it blend in with the NEW surrounding area.

That new color scheme is really bright, not that ID was that good a ride anyway.

Well, I wonder if the new paint on ID will make the track joints smoother? Probably couldn't hurt.

I agree that painting a coaster the same color as the one next to it is probably not the best thing to do for "visual pleasure", but ID needed something - the color scheme was soooooo boring! I, too, wonder if the trains will get a different color scheme/theme? And yes, Easter comes to mind.

Purple is my favorite color (royalty!) and WildCat looks great.

I still say that Magnum was dark red when it first opened - sure looks more orange to me now.

I also say that Corkscrew was lighter blue than it currently is. My photos from opening year don't show that dark blue color.

I also have pictures of the Blue Streak before it was EVER painted, then painted a light blue, then painted as it is now.

And one last thing - was not the Mine Ride track a different color when it was first built? I seem to recall it looking more like standard railroad track than the brown it is currently.

All in all, CP does a good job of keeping the rides & the park looking nice. All too often, I see other parks where the coasters have been forgotten (PKI) and the grounds just, well, not very clean. I know that Mean Streak needs to be re-tracked, but at least the wood has attention paid to it yearly.

I liked the Wild Cat paint--really brought it up. As for ID, I really don't get it. I would think you would want each coaster to stand out. The only advantage of painting it the same color is that it may look like TTD is longer from a side or aerial view.

Say, that gives me an idea...

Why not merge TTD & ID - Run the first half of ID, go into TTD and then finish with the second half of ID.

Don't have a coniption people, it's just a thought.

While I do like Iron Dragon's new colors, it's too close and too similar to Top Thrill Dragster, although Dragster did have the same color scheme that ID had (red and grey) and no one really complained... I would liked to have seen some other colors go on ID though. I'll get used to it.

TTD used to have the same color scheme as ID? Red and grey?
