Scenario for Geauga Lake

Ok, Here is the scenario:
Cedar Fair hires you as the new general manager of Geauga Lake. They have clearly said to improve the park as much as you can and that the whole wildlife section is available for expansion. Not only that you only have from the 2004-2010 season to make it up to Cedar Fair Stands.
The rules are:
1) Money is no object...Cedar Fair makes enough a year to make whatever improvements you see fit to make.
2) There may only be a total of two major rides bought a year. (This includes coasters.)
3) Three flat rides can be bought every year.
4) Only two rides may be moved a year.
5) There will be no rides to be built over the lake compeletly...A part of the ride must be on land.
6) Historical rides may not be removed like Double Dipper, etc.

That's about it...Have fun. :sun:

Well, it isn't really very realistic what you're asking. More of sort of a major fantasy really. Cedar Fair will obviously try to improve things at the park but they will not try that hard so that it would have more rides or coasters that their crown jewel Cedar Point. It will never happen.

As for saying Cedar Fair standards, is that what you mean or do you really mean Cedar Point standards. Because right now, they have some great coasters, they could use a few good flats but what park can't? I'd say that need to focus on customer service and the small details that SF seemed to miss. I don't think that Cedar Fair has to be too concerned with meeting some sort of standard because in my opinion based on what I know Cedar Point, Knott's Berry Farm with the addition of Silver Bullet later this year and to a small extend Dorney with next years floorless are the only Cedar Fair parks that have an impressive line up of coasters. Geauga Lake already has a better lineup of coasters than the other Cedar Fair parks Michigan Adventures, Valleyfair or Worlds of Fun.

I see the park hopefully getting a hyper eventually and some flats for the wildlife side. I don't see them not using the wildlife side at all though for animals of some sort. I think once they are more familiar with park, they will have some sort of animals there because that is what people were used to there when it was SeaWorld and then later SFWoA. I don't see Cedar Fair running it just as a completely regular amusement park, trying to turn it into Cedar Point Jr. I think that will take advantage of the wildlife side with some actual wildlife.

This sounds pretty cool and all, but what are we supposed to do this on? It sounds like an RCT2 competition for Speed Zone to me!

2004: Magnum is relocated to Geauga Lake. The "Double Dipper" being an unknown (historical) ride is removed. Raptor is relocated to where the unknown "Double Dipper" once stood.
2005: TTD and MF are relocated to Geauga Lake
2006: CF buys the Steel Dragon 2000 and moves to GL. Tower of Terror is also bought and moved to GL.
2007: CF buys the Six Flags chain and promptly relocates X and Superman the Escape to Geauga Lake.
2008: CF buys the Paramount chain. The Beast and Son of Beast are relocated to GL.
2009: CF buys the Busch amusement parks. As General Manager, I arrange to have leeloo's two favorite rides (Apollo's Chariot and Alpengeist) relocated to GL.
2010: New for Geauga Lake---the first coaster to break 10,000 feet in height and 200mph (with 37,615 feet of track). Also new for GL in 2010 (opening the following day)---the first coaster to break 25,000 feet and 300mph (with 94,378 feet of track).

I'm sure the surrounding residents wouldn't object like they did when SF tried to expand on the Sea World side.

LOL

Where did you get this info and numbers from? It just doesn't seem realistic, how it be 10,000ft tall and only have 37 thousand feet of track? I think that the lift hill would use almost that much track alone. I don't think this will happen.

But I did hear from my neighbor who knows this one guy he used to go to high school with whose sister dated this guy and his son will be working at Geauga Lake this year and word got out that there will be a completly underwater coaster built under the lake itself. The line will start on ground and will lead underwater via a tunnel which will lead underwater and take you to the coaster's station. It will be a launch coaster using giant rubber bands connected to the back of the trains. It will launch 0-180mph in 0.5 seconds. I can't wait to ride this thing! From what I've heard construction is set to begin in a few days, I think on the first of April.

The words "money is not an option" in your first post makes this very unrealistic.

Since money is no object, then the technology will be funded until said coaster can be created.

I had to make the coaster realistic, you know---about as realistic as me ever becoming the GM of Geauga Lake.

Boomtown gets removed and a huge wave pool goes in its place, like in the good old days. In place of the existing wave pool, a kiddie area is built. On the former wildlife side they build a hyper and more woodies! Also, they have to bring back Geauga Dog, Dandy Lion, etc. as mascots. Oh, and the food price goes way down. The exact years all of this happens I don't know.

It was a really fantasy-like scenario and money was no object, so I couldn't help but try to turn it into the perfect park 8-)

ok--2004. hire enough employees to open all rides everyday--at the same time. Fill in 50' on all sides of lake and make this a board walk area to foster builing of new rides. Keep all coasters except Mind Eraser. Remove Monorail. Add new coaster in this are to swoop toward the wave pool. Tear down wild life side (start just past the kids area), add new resort hotel and campgrounds in the parking lot on wild life side. Marketing Marketing Marketing stating a family park. Add new restaraunts(more variety) and keep pricing as is for now.
2005--major coaster.
2006 2 good flats and major upgrade in the childrens area in wildlife side.
2007 bring back mind eraser near the kids area on wildlife side--add new coaster in this area to spread people throughout park. Move the long floating walkway from current location to the kids area on wildlife side of park. Start major development of wildlife side to include casino, live shows, and a venue for concerts.
2008 whew--were tired--we need a break
2009 a couple of flats--few more restarants
2010 repave the parking lot--add much needed parking in the dead ride storage area.

Umm...Just to let you know, they already have a hotel...It's just past the wildlife entrance and yeah, Cedar Fair now owns it...It was part of the deal.
