| Cedar Fair drops a corny bomb on Geauga Lake
Yep. The new Geauga Lake ride names have arrived. Don't hold your breath, they're as horrible as you were anticipating. Batman Knight Flight is now The Dominator Serial Thriller is now Thunderhawk Superman Ultimate Escape is now Steel Venom The Mind Eraser is now Head Spin Roadrunner Express is now Beaver Land Mine Ride Yes, the horror. Six Flags, may I apologize on behalf of everyone who thought the names your associates came up with were horrible and lame. Cedar Fair has regained another crown and throne. Not only reusing names, but reusing HORRIBLE ones. They JUST DON'T FIT. More to join the ranks of Wicked Twister, Disaster Transport, Mean Streak, and Magnum XL-200. I may just be overracting over here, but honestly, the person or people who chose those names for those rides either were given 5 minutes to decide, were intoxicated while browsing the Dorney Park site, or are just plain...plain. I mean, where the f_ck did they pull Beaver Land Mine Ride from? www.geaugalake.com/public/inside_park/rides/roller.cfm Last edited by kraxleRIDAH; 04-08-2004 at 04:53 PM. |

They are actually OK ride names. I might take us a few weeks getting used to though. The sadpart is that they released the names to late. People are going to see a Brochure and be like...."Wow! Six Flags add a bunch of new rides!!!!

Well I don't think thunderhawk is that bad of a name but The Dominator to replace batman is just crazy!! Thats almost as bad as Top Thrill Dragster. Who would name a roller coaster the dominator? Well the name stinks but the ride is still good i guess. I still feel fishy about this switch, I honestly think that cedar fair will let this park flop.

Those are pretty bad, and I'm sure they could've come up with some better ones.

I agree. I wonder if they just drew some names out of a hat so the rides would have names before the park opened. Head Spin...WTF.

Thunderhawk isn't a bad name. But I'm not a fan of "Beaver Land". They definetly could have worked on the names a bit harder.

I would also like to congratulate Cedar Fair on making Geauga Lake's new logo. 1. It looks like the logo belonging to a cheap $8 admission waterpark 2. Cedar Fair apparently hired an elementary school kid for the job 3. Microsoft Paint |

| Geauga Lake's website is now up!
I just wanted to let everyone know that the website is up and running. I haven't even really looked much at it yet, I thought I'd let everyone know, aren't I considerate?

And thanks to Kraxle, we have the webpage in his post. I merged these two threads, gave a new title.

Well at least a few coasters kept their names.

The only ones they had to change were those the were Six Flags properties, like the DC Comic characters and Warner Brother names. I actually kinda like the logo. Its simple but nice.

They're still Batman, Superman, Earial Killer, Mind Eraser and RRE to me. These names suck. Notice that Silver Bullet (1979 Huss Enterprise) is not listed, which means it probably won't be there. Also, Turtle Beach is back....I wish they would have named the entire waterpark Turtle Beach. Hurricane Hannah's waterpark? How stupid. How about Hurricane Hortense? (an actualt name of a hurricane) Hannah just sounds lame and unexciting.

I like all of the new names, except for Beaver Land Mine Ride. Considering the amount of time that they had to make up new names...or old ones to place on new coasters, this is what came out. But I got to tell you, it's better than I thought they were going to be. And the new Logo, it could of been better, but I think it's alright.

Hey, sorry Kraxle, didn't mean to try and hijack your thread. I didn't see you already had one on the subject. So if Cedar Fair does move "The Dominator" to Cedar Point, do you think they'll keep the name? LOL

they're not moving rides from Geauga Lake. Not to mention that BKF is a custom-built ride for Geauga Lake. Taking away rides from Geauga Lake would be a horrible PR move.

Batman...Dominator...whatever. I don't care what they're called. I do like the web site---much better than Six Flags ever had. Last edited by Magnum Robert; 04-08-2004 at 10:00 PM. |

I could care less about the names as long as Cedar Fair cleaned up the park alot...I just hope they didn't mess up any of the theming like the entrances because they were really cool...Especially Batmans and Supermans: UE. All in all, I'm still going to visit the park this year regardless...

Does cedar fair own the land that used to be the wildlife section of the park. Because if they do, this may be an amazing park in the future.

OMG!! I totally was surprised to go to their website and see the changes. I thought they would just do Ultimate escape and Knight Flight but they were totally different! But as much as people say the names are dumb, who cares? The rides still rock. Then again, what was so much better about every SF park having coasters named Batman: or Superman: There isn't much creativity in those either. Thunderhawk is probably the best name of all of them.

I kind of like the names. They could have done a better job, but it could have been a lot worse. It'll be intresting to see, I've never been before, so I won't exactly know the changes, but it should be good, hopefully.

I think Cedar Fair could have gotten better names by holding a contest and having the GP choose the names. I mean, look...Hershey Park had the GP pick the name of the coaster and look, Storm Runner is an awesome name if you look at it...I don't have a problem with the names because they are still the same rides, but I think if they held a contest they would have gotten better names.

Cedar fair still could've done that and ended up with names people wouldn't like anyway. I'll be happy as long as the park is run well and turn out nice. I won't worry about the names of a few coasters.

| Wonder...
how quick they picked these names. Hopefully we see some fan-imput in the coming years for new rides. All I think is "I'm going to ride Dominik Hasek"

I like the names :P *rolls eyes* Okay, so some of them are cheesy, but "Beaver Land"?! I feel bad for the ride ops working there, I can hear the jokes now... But the names ARE what you'd expect from a family oriented park. Kennywood's aren't that great either if you think about it ;)! Well, I'll just wait to see when I go this summer, should be interesting. A must stop will be the water park for sure! Oh, and did anyone notice the poll asking if they should bring Geauga Dog back? From the looks of it everyone does!
