| Flagship park
I've been wondering. What's your definition of a flagship park? Is it because of big rides? Publicity? PKI is supposedly PP flagship park, yet everyone seems to hate the woodies they have there. |

The only woodie that is universally hated there is SOB. Beast is legendary, and I love Racer. To me, a flagship park is one which is : a) the largest b) sees the largest investments c) looks the best maintained Face it, PKI carries a certain prestige to it that none of the other Paramount Parks can match. |

I really don't see it necessarily the largest park, because Six Flags proved us wrong with that one. But, I do agree that a flagship park usually is the park that brings in high attendance numbers year after year. This past year we saw Six Flags go from SFMM to SFGAdv as their flagship park, the only reason I can see this happening is because SFGAdv has a lot of potential, and SFMM has only went down the hole the past few years. I think if a park has proven itself to being the money maker in a certain chain, that of course would be the flagship park, of course popularity also has a little effect on this as well.

I only see the playing field level out for Six Flags. A big park to represent the East Coast, one to represent the West Coast.

i dont truly think PP has a flagship, because they vary in who gets what... it used to definitely be PKI, but in the past few years other parks in the chain have caught up w/ PKI mistakes (SOB for example..)... i'd actually consider PKD to be in front, although PP doesn't really name and spend on 'flagships' like Six Flags and Cedar Fair....

I personally don't think that park companies play favorites...it's all about who makes the biggest profits.

^^ except that by saying its all about who makes the biggest profits, they are then indeed playing favourites. Taking a money loser and putting large invetments into it can turn a park around if it is managed well.

What I see a flagship park would be a park with great rides, atmosphere, and reliability. In that case, Seabreeze would be the flagship small park. :D

/\ That's not how amusement park operators determine their flagship parks. The main attributes are highest or second highest annual attendance figures with generally the highest ROI, while park size, net worth, and market area included in there somewhere.
