2005 Rate Your Six Flags Playtime!

It's time for the second annual 2005 Rate your Six Flags Playtime Poll. Most seasons at Six Flags parks across the country are wrapping up for 2005.
I started this poll last year with the exciting, sudden new look at Six Flags marketing scheme with the dancing Mr. Six. Rate your playtime at Six Flags parks for the 2005 season. List the park or parks you've been to, one or two of your best or worst times this season if you wish. Go ahead if you'd like to give a letter grade.

Have a great 2006!
Six Flags "It's Playtime!"

I only went to SFGAm this season. It's by far the best SF park I've been to (which isn't saying much, as I've only been to 3). I'd give it an A-, because, let's face it - Mr. Six is just plain creepy.

The only SF park I went to this season was SFOG. I voted for "Improved - Better" because back in august, after almost 3 1/2 years, I FINALLY got to ride Deja Vu . I guess it's because I was able to visit the park more often this year, but I haven't been able to ride it since March of 2002.

I also chose "Content/Same as before" and "Improvement Needed" because there are still things they need to work on. But I have been pretty content with my experience this year. I guess A-/B+

SFoG right now has definitely improved, and borderline excellent. My last trip to Fright Fest (will post TR later) was absolutely the most fun I've had at SFoG ever. SF is definitely getting things together at their Atlanta park.

This year the only SF park that I visited was GAdv. I usually visit around 4 SF parks and then the non SF parks a year. I would definately say my playtime was great this year. With the addition of the GK and KK GAdv is alot better to me. The park just had an overall better atmosphere this year.

I visited four Six Flags parks this summer.. two were repeats and two were new. My thoughts:

Six Flags Over Georgia (Visits: 19 Repeat: Yes, too many to count)
Good improvements in customer service
Better ride operations, Deja Vu was somewhat reliable
Best season in recent memory

Six Flags Great Adventure (Visits: 1 Repeat: No)
Very clean, the GK was excellent
Good ride operations
Much better than what I had heard about all these years

Six Flags Darien Lake (Visits: 2 Repeat: Yes, four lifetime visits)
Better operations on Superman
The cleanliness was practically immaculate
Some improvements in customer service

Six Flags New England (Visits: 1 Repeat: No)
Fairly good operations both for rides and the water park
Suprisingly clean and well-landscaped/themed
A moderately friendly staff, with high points and low points
I found it to be highly underrated from what I had heard over time

Overall
A very good year for Mr. Six and turning a profit in Q2 shows. Hopefully Snyder can improve it even more!! I vote "improved - better"

I just went to a Six Flags park for the first time since Easter last week for Fright Fest and it was horrible. Low capacity, high crowd level, and the decorations were hardly noticeable. Plus most of the ops weren't too concerned with their jobs. The 3 guys working the bumper cars would jump in after starting the ride and go in the reverse direction to hit people head on.

I'm not surprised that the park is chokingly crowded during FrightFest. I always warn people about the super long waits around Halloween @ SFGADV Frightfest. Not an optimal time for us enthusiasts.

Sadly for the first year in a long time i didn't visit ant SF parks this year. I had plans to go to SFGadv but cancelled due to KK being down and the new coaster next year.

I visited Six Flags Great Adventure on Sunday to buy a 2006 Season Pass. While I didn't actually ride anything, I did notice that the park was very clean compared to recent years (Cedar Fair in cleanliness, in fact). I was very impressed, however, by how many halloween decorations were up! They were everywhere! In one small section of the park, I saw more than in all of Dorney on Saturday. Good work SF, I'm looking forward to next year!

Yep. Six Flags really is shaping up. There are a large number of enthusiasts on different forums that still refuse to notice the small changes that have been taking place at all the parks the past season or so. Eventually, these small things will work enough momentum into more drastic and noticeable changes for the good. I mean, we have to consider the fact that management made extrememly poor decisions for the past few years leading up until last season (with budget cuts in a lot of vital departments such as maintenance, personnel training and infrastructure improvements) - and because of it, the parks were digging themselves a deep pit to sit in. But I've noticed that Six Flags is climbing out of it, slowly, but they are climbing out - and that's what's the most important part.

To actually see that they have noted their mistakes and are setting up long-term strategic planning for the betterment of their guests' experience at their parks means a lot to me, personally. And it should for all of you too.

I feel that if Red Zone LLC (Dan Snyder) did ANYTHING good in the attempt to take control of the board of directors is SCARE management into a panic and make them get up on their feet and make some changes. But aside from that, I really hope to GOD that Snyder and his wingmen DO NOT get voted onto the board of directors by shareholders. The man and his posse have NO theme park industry experience! I would rather have Burke hold the reigns to Six Flags than Snyder ANYDAY. Hopefully, shareholders and investors will make good notice of that before voting on Red Zone's White consent card.

<- Waits for the day that SFI turns a profit in an entire fiscal year and Cedar Fair loses money. IMHO it will happen within the next 5 years... I can't wait to hear those people you are talking about when that happens

On the contrary, I'm actually in support of Snyder :)

/\ Did you read that statement issued by Six Flags to its shareholders and investors? I really hope you still don't stand by Snyder considering he is incompetent for the role he wants to take on due to his inexperience in the amusement park industry, and his advocation for changes at Six Flags are downright horrible ones at that.

Do you support Snyder? Or do you support the idea that Six Flags begin to make some changes for the better? If it's the second one you're going for, then look alive buddy, it's already happening whether you like to admit and notice or not.

I have not gotten a chance to sit down and read Six Flags' rebuttal yet, but when I do I will analyze it better at that point.

Incompetent? And Burke & Gang are?

I happen to think that Snyder had some good ideas and some that weren't as good. Sometime tonight or tomorrow I will probably read through the SF filing, and I do realize that significant changes have taken place this year. 'matter fact I picked up on it in March and knew this would be a good year for SF. The 2nd quarter is/was only the beginning IMO.

I went to SFMM abut 6 or 7 times this season, and it was a lot cleaner than last season, Every coaster (except goldrusher) had two trains running on at least 5 of those visits, and the lines werent terribly long (Except on Fright Fest).

And Batman:The Ride does have two trains running. I remember a rumor that they shipped a train somwhere else... and im not saying that isnt possible... But they DO have two trains running.

Well why don't you read it before you keep rambling on? It seems to me you don't even know what Snyder's plans of reform are, yet you support him.
Incompetent? And Burke & Gang are?
Haha. At least Burke has experience in the industry. What do you make of Dan Snyder running Six Flags? Do you really think it'll be any better than the current management? He owns a professional SPORTS team. That's like me being the tycoon of a huge grocery store chain and trying to force myself onto the board of directors at a corporation that runs a Concert hall and saying that I'm more qualified than the current managment.

Actually, I did, and here are my thoughts on it. If you see I support his probably 80-90% of his proposals.

Yep but he didn't have experience to begin with, did he? ;)

I do think it will be better, probably because some of his proposals are things I have been advocating for years (aim for familes more, no more overspending on big budget coasters, raise season pass prices).

Sure, Snyder has no experience in the industry, but he's a good businessman. Ya gotta start somewhere.

I went to SFGAm for the first time ever. There were no lines, I got rerides on everything I wanted one on, almost every flat was running despite it being the end of the season when a lot of school age workers couldn't work during the week, and it was also clean. The workers in the gift shops were some of the friendliest I've come into contact with at a park.

It was a really great day. Though it could have been made that way because I expected "it's Six Flags so it'll suck" and was impressed instead. I liked the theming, the rides were a lot of fun, and I had a chance to enjoy myself with some friends.

Overall I think that Six Flags is doing well, they only seemed to lose track of who they were and what exactly they were trying to do when they overextended themselves and purchased too many parks.
