Dreamland / Bembom Brothers - Margate

What has happened to this place in Margate? Is it still open? Has it fallen to pieces? Is it up for sale??

I am amazed that nobody has bought it and completely rebuilt the place.

Can anybody tell me?

hello,

DreamLand is still there... although its about half the size it was.

They have just installed a Schwarzkopf Silver Arrow (previously, the Terror of Terror @ Camelot).

the park is a bit of a state and i dont know what they are planning to do with it - but from what i saw earlier this year, it really needs some investment....

Hmmmm it looks a bit of a mess now. I have some real happy memories of Bembom Brothers and now look at it. I wonder how much they paid for that piece of rubbish from Camelot.

I don't understand why somebody doesn't buy it and develop it properly. I can't remember how big the site was but surely it could be made better than this??

As my Northern friends would say...

'It's Mingin'

actually the Silver Arrow isnt bad at all, the loop is really circular, and the last helix pulls some major G's....
its not a big coaster, but it a reason for making the trip!

In fact, only a few years ago (about 1996), there was quite a lot of money spent on the place. It changed hands (from Bemboms to Jimmy Godden) and they even had an EU grant. They really tidied the place up and removed some of the rides. Since then it has deteriorated, and now reduced in size. One good thing, though, is that a policy is going into the forthcoming Local Plan requiring that the site remain in amusement park use. So, its future (at least as a reduced size park) should be secure.

The rest of the site is likely to become a Morrisons supermarket.
