Lines

Lines. We all have to wait in them, but we all hate them. What do you guys do in them BESIDES the following:

Talking to your friends/family/strangers
Listening to music
Reading

Anyone? I thought it would be nice to hear some ideas.

I like the line for Viper here at SFDL...it takes a really long time to get to the station, but you walk under and near all of the ride. Great spots for taking pictures, which, to answer the question, is what I usually do in line.

As anyone might know from reading my last TR to Cedar Point, I look at girls in line :D (well usually the music is terrible so I can't enjoy that.)

Other ways to have fun in line:

Get a group of you to dress up as monks and do chants in line.

Bring a Mr. Microphone attached to a speaker and start singing "Quando Quando Quando" or "Feelings"

Go up to people in line, hold out your hand and say "Alms for the poor?" :p

Bring a guitar or ukalele into line and strum it and sing in a high falsetto voice "Tip Toe Thru the Tulips"

Bring a tuba into line and play it to whatever song the DJ is.

Get a bunch of people to sing "Chasin' that Neon Rainbow" during songs when the DJ is yammering.

Get a bunch of friends and bring Steel Drums or Highland Bagpipes into line and play them to whatever tune is playing at the moment (whether you can play or not.)

Go to sams club, buy a tray of soda pop, get into line and sell it for 10¢ less than what the pop machines are selling it for (try not to get caught ;) )

Go up to the DJ and say "Hey my girlfriend (or boyfriend) and I are celebrating are one year anniversary together and would like to hear a song to remember that day we met...can you play 'Wong has the Longest Tong in China?'" (yes I borrowed that one from George Carlin.)

Smoky - ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!! George Carlin is the greatest!

Anyways, I either look at girls (sunglasses really help in this section) or I take pictures besides talking with my friends.

Also, the DJ's at CP are the best! They knwo that they get long lines, so they put DJ's there to help pass the time, and it works! Smoky...remember that they play songs upon request, too! Just say whatever song you wish, as long as it isn't something along the lines of SlipKnot (heh heh) they will play it! I found them to have some great songs playing (see - Grateful Dead, Jethro Tull, etc.) and it was very fun with them in line...most of them have a great sense of humor too!

I might take pictures, but I usually talk. Then, once I get near the loading platform, I prepare my loose articles. Glasses Strap for the specs, keys in the correct pocket, I make sure nothing gets lost.

Basically, looking at the coaster. Usually, and this is usually with friends who arent coaster enthusiasts, I ramble on about the coaster designer, when it was built, clones, etc. Every random fact I know. I'm not too exciting on lines. I usually just have conversations with people.

Smokey, I like your ideas. I hope your in my line soon. Here's a couple of others:

Get a few people to stand around and look at one spot on the coaster and point. Go oooohhhh and aaaahhh. A scream never hurts.

Have sex.

Be the fashion police. Check out the tourists.

Try to see which one of the group was talked into getting in line for a ride that scares the !@#$%#$^ out of them.

Tell jokes.

And to quote my mother " take the time and make a friend, what else can you do ". We moved around a lot.

Time the ride ops. Let them know if the're doing a good job.

I bring my disman and blast the world away with my music. other wise i'll get a paranoia attack becuase somitmes people dont know the word space and there all over you like the rides ganna go somewhere! or somtimes i just think about the coaster and talk with my freinds about the coaster etc. im going to SFA tomarrow and i know im ganna get stuck inline so im prepared hopfully they dont see my disman in my pocket on batwing (in the cargo pocket of my pants)(since it would get crsuhed in my uper pocket) if i dont bring it in i'll just talk with my freinds. but the best thing to do in line is not think about the line ahead of you.

Hmmm... DJ's? I don't know about DJ's but I remember hearing a bunch of annoying songs at PKD while standing in line for XLC. Wouldn't have done me any good to bring a discman or GameBoy anyway as they would have been quickly drenched in the downpour. That and the metal detectors.

I usually like to carve the name of my dead homies in the que somewhere. I should be getting to Revolution soon to get a good "RIP Anton. The oldest rolla nigga I knew"

Other then that I like to speak in gibberish to my friends to confuse the hell out of the people around me.

I don't like waiting in line, it's boring. I just sit and think or listen to my CD player if I have it in line, but I think waiting in line makes a ride on a coaster better, because of the anticipation of it. You just keep staring at it every minute and can't wait to go on it. Compared to when you don't have to wait, but then you don't get a long look at it.

Well, other then talking, I just zone out. It helps pass the time by not dwelling on how long you've been waiting or how its 95 degrees and the DJ is playing N'Sync or Backstreet Boys for a group of gidy little girls. A group of giddy TEENAGE girls though, thats not so bad. LOL.
