So I was searching the theads and couldn't find this so I thought I'd start it so I could just see the many opinions we users have. So what's your favorite park wether you pay homage to your home park or represent a park you've only been to once or twice, what's your favorite. Why? Also while your at it...could you tell me your least favorite park and why? Oh btw my favorite park was the Pavilion because of it's beautiful location, plus the atmosphere...those cheap shopping vendors and Ripley's idk what it is but it all makes me smile. I'm cheesy like that.

Favorite: CEDAR POINT! No questions asked! ![]() My home park(s) are Six Flags Over Georgia and Carowinds. Carowinds was my favorite until I went to Cedar Point. Now Carowinds is my 2nd favorite! I don't have a least favorite. Probably Six Flags Great America, just because both times i've been there the lines have been rediculous! Each ride had a 2 hr. wait! Horrible! But I love the park, just the slow loading/unloading deal, causing the bad lines. |

Well as you could have guessed my favorite park is Dollywood. As for the reason I'm really not sure but it just something about the park that I love. And as for a least favorite park I really don't have one but I guess if I have to choose one I would have to say Camp Snoppy in the Mall of America just because it's so small other than that reason I don't really have a least favorite.

My favorite park is Cedar Point becuase I have practically grown up there, but the park that I really want to go back to just because I loved it so much is Indiana Beach. Haven't been back since '04 because it IS a trek from where I live and I have not been able to get anyone to split the cost of a cabin with me yet. But I would really like to go back next year so that I can ride Lost Coaster and Cornball again. My least favorite would have to be SFKK but I have not been back since 99. It probably deserves another chance.

It's between Six Flags Great Adventure and Dorney Park for me. SFGADV has the magnitude in acreage and lineup of coasters. Dorney can't clearly match up to that but it has a great collection and an awesome ambiance. I liked my past visits to Hersheypark but I'm not close enough to allow its atmosphere charm me to complete comfort when I visit. I'm always on the go there.

Most folks will say that their f avorite is the park that they are closest to & therefore able to visit frequently....lord knows we've got too many PCAR fanboys on here that's for sure because it seems like the only active thread in the "parks" forum of the board is that PCAR general discussion one. Almost leaves me with the desire to refrain from even posting on the site as much anymore these days,I mean last time I looked it was "thrillnetwork boards" not "Paramount's Carowinds boards" after all. |

So.. basically, you said that because he hated your homepark. Haha, nice. My favorites are as follows: Islands of Adventure (477 mi) Dollywood (281 miles) Busch Gardens Williamsburg (625 mi) Six Flags Great America (829 mi) Indiana Beach (662 mi) Hersheypark (769 mi) Six Flags America would probably not even be in my top 50 |

It's turning into more of a Cedar Point / Dollywood boards now. Heck Carowinds only has one thread. Between CP & DW i think there are like 12 all discussing the same thing. |

The responses in this thread are interesting, however, it has the potential to evolve into a flame war. Keep the thread open- let's not go there.

Let's see... Sylvan Beach - Very classic, 1950's feel. I'm surprised that so few people acutally know about it. Hersheypark - A great park, great atmosphere, and it has Storm Runner, what can I say? TGE - It has Comet. Cedar Point - A great atmosphere, and great rides. |

Islands of Adventure hands down. It puts the theming of Disney (if not even a little more advanced) with thrill rides. I think that the Universal resorts are better than Disney's choices and you really can't compare IOA to any other regional park because of the overall theming of every ride. They don't have as many rides but I could spend a week there without getting bored.

Also I love BGE. I went there for my first time two summers ago. It was amazing, and despite it only having four coasters, those four coasters are so spectacular and a step above the rest in it's area. (Like PKD could be a challenge?) I still can't decide wether Apollo's Chariot should be in my top five but I'm glad to see they're getting Griffon. They were in need for a new coaster...and it's going to whoop Sheikra.

Let's see... My favorites- 1.) BGE - Oddly enough, my day here was one of the dreariest days I've ever had at a park. 2.) Hersheypark - Wonderful coasters and a very friendly atmosphere. 3.) Dorney Park - Please don't kill me for this. The coasters aren't all that amazing, but the park is gorgeous. On top of that, all the coasters look really good and the atmosphere is unforgettable. Least Favorites (no order)- Mt. Olympus - Sure, Hades is awesome, and Cyclops and Zeus are pretty darn good, but the staff if horrible, the layout is worse, and the go-karts are over-rated. O'Niel Amusements (Como Town before it was revamped) - I never felt safe at this park. Thank God they took out everything. I remember a ride on their Dizzy Dragons in which the ride op spun our Dragon as fast as a rotor. I clearly remember that their Round-Up was held up by a dictionary.

My favorite parks starting from best to worst (this will probably change after my trip to Orlando next month): BGE--I grew up going to KD but my first trip here in '93 let me know this park was special. SFOG--This park surprised me. Sure it was crowded, but it wasn't as dumpy as I thought it was going to be. PKD--The changes enacted by Paramount over the past 13 years collectively took a big dump on my childhood. I went back this summer for the first time in a while and it was ok but I don't think it will ever recover some of its luster from the 80's. Least favorite: Six Flags America: A couple of my favorite rides do not a good park make. I was surprised that this one wasn't listed with the other parks as a possible sell-off back in June. |

For me, it would have to be Dollywood. There is just something about the Smoky Mountain themeing, and the feel of the park when you walk in the gates, that makes me love Dollywood so much. My least favorite park would be Visionland in Alabama.

My favorite park, like many of you other roller coaster enthusiast, would have to be Cedar Point. Is it really worth explaining why? Look at the park, its near perfection, their is so much that it has to offer and Im not just talking about roller coasters, because it has alot more thna just that. They got several rides, dozens actually, one's that appeal to different people, so what Im saying is they have variety. they got calm rides for the children, they got thrill rides for the ones who can stomach more intensity and of coarse a variety of water rides. Then of coarse, you just cant forget about thier coaster line up, its top notch compared to any other park. Let me just throw some names out thier, Millenium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, Wicked Twister, Raptor, Maverick, Blue Streak(Classic), Gemini and yes even Mantis. Plus they have a handful of mediocre coasters, that appeal to families and children. Cedar Point is just a great park, and Im not one of those CP fanboys, I just like the park and dont see how any one could ever dislike it; its great. Now, Im not sure what would be my least favorite, I havent been to enough parks to be able to determine such an opinion.

Favorite parks: Canobie lake (home park) great Flats and fantastic water rides, the Yankee cannonball BGW - an amazing park with fantastic themeing and the coaster are top notch. SFOG - Good coaster selection and well maintained park. reasonable theming. Story land - ya I know it's a family park but the theeing is great the staff fantastic and the parks is cared for to the point Disney would give applause. Least Favorite: Six Gun City - another NH family park but they just don't seem to bother with the park. The park has started to build itself up better buildings and a Roller coaster but the price has raised with little to support it. SFNE- I'm sure I will get arguments for this one. Way overpriced! the parks lacking in theaming in most areas. feels more like a traditional amusement park and not a theme park. A few good coaster but the rest are terrible. and the flat selection is either a terribly run ride or a thrill ride. they are getting better but right now there still low on my list. |

| Favorite Cedar Point - It really is the perfect amusement park, for me at least. Before my first visit in 2002, I had heard nothing but great reviews about the park and was a bit skeptical if it could live up to the expectations I had set for it. It did. Every ride but the red side of Gemini was open during my two-day visit. Something I'm not used to considering one of my home parks is Magic Mountain (more on that later). The park is relatively clean and well kept, the landscaping is well done, building facades and rides are well maintained --- and operations/ride efficiency is top notch. For example, the line for Millennium Force on my first day was packed to capacity, yet the line was ALWAYS moving and I got on the ride within a reasonable amount of time. I just had a very good experience there with that park. I could just keep rambling on about how great Cedar Point is. But all this leads me to: Least Favorite Six Flags Magic Mountain - One of my home parks, just a 40-minute drive away. Such a large park, with great roller coasters in a breathtaking mountain-lined setting --- countered by horrible ride operations, run-down looking buildings, dirty queue lines, multiple closed attractions and poor food service. It's like Cedar Point only in one way. A stellar and large collection of roller coasters. That's where similarities end. Unlike the Ohio park, Magic Mountain has very little to do outside of roller coasters and high-thrill attractions. It's one of those parks where I visit and leave in a worse mood than when I entered. |

Magic Mountain is the best, although Marine World is good too. it seems to me like all of the Six Flags parks are the best. Last edited by Steven; 10-18-2006 at 07:27 AM. Reason: spelling/grammar issues. Corrections in bold. |
