| Which Park Has The Best Wild West??
Which park do you think has the best themed Wild West Area? It could be a section or the whole park? Themeing, Coasters and food should all be top notch. Barbaque is a must.

Six Gun City is a western themed park with a very realistic area. the paths are dirt and the Buildings wood. Nothing overly modern out side of a few rides. (photo of the parks Front road way. Canobie lake park has a nice western area. It's names Ye old Canobie Village. The Buildings are nice and the BBQ at the Dancing bear is fantastic.(Photo of back area taken from Flume) on a side note SFNE's Crack axle canyon deserve an honorable mention. It's one of the only actually themed areas in the park. |

I'd say KBF could be up there.

Idlewild's westen area is weel themed. The have a water pump, general store, a great BBQ, and a spinning salon that imitates the feeling of intoxication. A fun house and an old train station finish the area off. It is well designed. Although it is very small, it has to be one of the bestr themed areas I have ever seen. I think the Disneyland Paris Frontierland looks like the best of Disney western areas - seems like it is much more detailed the other ones. Knott's Ghost Town is great too, since many of the buildings and structures are authentic. Back in the 60s and 70s there were a lot of small Wild West-themed parks across the country, though most of them have died off. Ghost Town in the Sky and Tweetsie Railroad (Both in North Carolina) are two of the survivors from that era. Last edited by Dukeis#1; 12-31-2006 at 06:28 PM. |

Of course, the original theme park Wild West --- Ghost Town at Knott's Berry Farm. Like Dukeis#1 said, most of the buildings were actually relocated from real American ghost towns more than half a century ago. The park became a theme park as a result of the growing Ghost Town area Walter Knott built to entertain his wife's Chicken Dinner Restaurant guests. http://database.thrillnetwork.com/db...ry_farm765.htm http://z.about.com/d/themeparks/1/0/S/kbf2.jpg http://database.thrillnetwork.com/db...ry_farm767.htm http://database.thrillnetwork.com/db...ry_farm770.htm http://database.thrillnetwork.com/db...ry_farm542.htm (GhostRider's queue is now in this area) http://www.smsnoveltiques.com/images/pc-ghosttown.jpg http://www.vintageviews.org/vv-3/arc.../stl04_002.JPG http://malakoff.com/kbf3.gif Last edited by Chris L; 12-31-2006 at 05:54 PM. |

Thanks for the pics. SFGADV had a good western town but they refaced many of the buildings for the new Island Kingdom when they added Kingda Ka. |

SFGAM's is really nice with the mission and other western buildings, but Hurricane Harbor seems out of place right next door though. The rides in Southwest Territory are nicely themed, and it is probably the nicest area in the ride park.

SFGADV still has what probably is the largest teepee and wagon in the world. The Wild West scenary was impressive @ Knotts Berry Farm.

| SFNE did the same thing but with there 50's area Rockville. The area is reasonably well themed and has a nice ride. yes one ride only. But the Tornado water slide toweres above the Rockville high auditorium completely killing the themes impact.

I hate to be bias, but SFFT's Crackaxle Canyon is very nice. And any other Six Flags theme park with the name Crackaxle Canyon got their name from SFFT. Hehe. But anyhow, it was built by USAA/Gaylord Entertainment and not Six Flags and it's right next to the canyon wall so it looks very realistic. Especially for a Six Flags park! It may be only two midway's long, but you can't see any other area of the park when you're in Crackaxle and the two midways it sits on were themed well around the rides, on the actual rides and the buildings, too.
