Yes. They are both legendary, and need major paint jobs, Revolution needs (if they can't take out the OTSR's) more comfortable ones so everyone can stop complaining, Colossus could use a couple wood touch ups in some places.

Also, do you think they will keep the Psyclone trains for Colossus's backwards frightfest thing? Maybe it will become a permanent thing now! They can change the name of Psyclones trains to Colossus, new color, and run it backwards all season. It would also be a plus to Colossus. maybe?

It would be such a treat to see Colossus returned to its glory as seen on tv. On tv it had a look of majesty while in person a few years ago I saw that it was in glum, in need of a second side going and a paintjob.

Colossus lost its "majesty" when Goliath was built. Goliath dwarfs Colosus. It will never look the same.

I don't understand why everyone hates Psyclone. It's not that bad of a ride. Mean Streak is just boring, but Psyclone at least has it's moments. For some reason I can't help but laugh my head off on Psyclone.

And by the way, a coaster has never insulted me. I can say a few coasters suck, but I've never been insulted. Glad to hear you didn't need any tissue.

Yeah same here. I dont think Psyclone was a TERRIBLE coaster. It wasn't the most comfortable, but hey, it's a woodie, and it's different I suppose. It's odd knowing you've been on a coaster that you'll never get to ride again.

lol. I have never been insulted by a coaster. I've ridden Mean Streak hundreds of times, and while it is a little bit boring, I was not offended by it. I even liked SOB even though it is a tad boring as well. I always root for the underdog. I can't really say much about Psyclone because I only rode it once and that was over twelve years ago.

Colossus is still very majestic if you can get over that ugly midcourse with the old leger boards underneith it, and chipped paint. I HATED it when they built Goliath over it, because I do feel that it dwarfs the ride and makes it look pitiful. You could say the same with Revolution and Tatsu, But Revolution was dwarfed by the trees around it years ago so it's not quite so bad. I would love to see Revolution get trains like on Olympia Looping with the height adjustable shoulder retraints. Not only are those trains gorgeous, they are far more comfortable. I think they need to put PTC trains back on Colossus. I hate those grinding fiberglass Morgan trains. They feel like half of the wheels are not even rolling, but are just scraping over the rails. Yuk.

I don't think wil will ever see the OTSR's come off revelution until the parks owned by another company. SFi is a save money park and you don't do that by making moves that will cost you money. Insurance would be huge especially for a company with a pore safety record.

But I'm sure you will see a new Woodie return in 4-6 years. if they get a coaster before 4 years it will mot likely be some sort of family coaster and steel.

Well I agree with Zingoman's statement. Having similar trains as Olympia Looping could be very beneficial to Revolution. But as for more coasters, as much as I would love more, I can't say. only time can tell.

Are you referring to Non OTSR trains like Revolution was opened with? Insurance liability is really high. SFI wants to save money. So it will never happen. best you can hope fore is a refurb to make them more comfortable.

I never rode Psyclone, but with all the horrible reviews I am relieved. I do regret not getting to ride Flashback. I really wanted to give that ride a go because of it's unique layout. Oh well. Are they trashing them or are they going to try to sell Flashback or Psyclone?

^ Nah, they'll melt down Flashback and sell it for scrap metal. At least that way they get some money out of it. Better than letting the pieces take up room sitting and rotting.

I also agree.

I'm mad because I was really anxious to ride Flashback because it looked like a fun and a unique coaster. Oh well that's life. I'm sure B&M would do a good job at replicating Flashback in as a floorless coaster.

Guys, just a quick update. I emailed Sue and got more details on Flashback and Pysclone.

Here's the official word on Flashback and Psyclone:

- The Flashback and Psyclone roller coasters at Six Flags Magic Mountain will not be operational in 2007.
- The Park is in the process of long-term planning and these two sites have been designated as a starting point for planning purposes.
- Six Flags Magic Mountain is exploring opportunities for these two areas of the Park for future Park expansion.
- Six Flags Magic Mountain is always looking to enhance areas of the Park so they continue to appeal to a wide audience.
- The Psyclone roller coaster is expected to be removed from its current site starting within the next four weeks. The site where Psyclone sits has been designated as one of two sites in the park that we’re considering for future development opportunities.
- Flashback will not be operational in 2007. No decision has been reached yet as to whether or not it will be integrated into our long-range planning and moved within Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Thanks again. Hope you are well.
Sue

Thanks Katie. Good to hear something official from the park.

I think it's a smart move on their part as everyone seems to hate Psyclone and why not put in a popular attraction instead of keeping up an unpopular one.

Enclosed and rethemed kinda like Space Mountain would be interesting. But without a doubt move it away from Hurricane Harbor.

Read another rumor that the park's Thrill Shot, Cyclone 500, and Freefall will also be removed this season, though the timeframe was not specified and whether or not it would be taken down at the same time as Psyclone (early to mid-March).

Katie Thanks for the information. Most was a little vague but I've come to expect that from many parks. Keeping flashback up until they figure out what to do with it seems like a bad move though. It's already in bad shape and waiting will only allow it to get worse. if they think it can be refurbed and installed in another park they need to do it sooner not latter.

Moving Flashback make no sense if the plans are to in close it. you can do that were it is now. Ya it needs to be rehabbed but the footers and queue are already in place.

Well they are keeping it, maybe they just rehab it and move it to another park. But, at least the word from the park is official. It will be interesting to see what happens with SFMM this year.

Mrceagle, PM me when you get the chance.

I think it would be terrific to have Flashback enclosed. It is already an ideal design for an indoor coaster. Maybe if you were in the dark, then the cars would not feel so confined because you couldn't see how crammed in you are. You already couldn't see jack crap on that ride, so what would it hurt to have it in darkness. Half of the track has already turned black by now too so you wouldn't even have to paint much of it! I'm really surprised it isn't being sold or scrapped. REALLY surprised. I'm very anxious to see the outcome of that ride.

Mrceagle - Flashback WILL BE DISMANTLED along with Psyclone. At this moment, it will go into storage after having been taken down as the park is planning out long-term redevelopment of the two areas currently taken up by the two coasters. Psyclone is scheduled to be dismantled sometime around mid-February.

I quote Magic Mountain's spokeswoman Sue Carpenter from LA DAILY NEWS -

Quote:
After it's dismantled, Flashback may be re-assembled somewhere else at Magic Mountain, but it won't be operating this year, Carpenter said. Psyclone will be smashed and scrapped within four weeks, she said.
The park is exploring the idea and possibility of re-assembling Flashback in a new area in the park in the future (though not in 2007). Keep in mind, that is not set in stone, just a possibility.

The hole Reuse thing threw me off. I really don;t see them being able to reuse the coaster. It's been neglected too long and even if they did opt to keep it it would do more good at a park with less space and in more need of a coaster. TGE, SFKK, SFNO(if they reopen it) are the first to come to mind. but likely a pore option.

ACTUALLY! Six Flags is scrapping Psyclone within the next 4 weeks, HOWEVER, they are putting Flashback in storage where it will not operate for the 2007 season, BUT they may move it to a new place in the park in future seasons. With the removal of both coasters, and new crap, It could definetly happen. There are even orange X's on some trees at Magic Mountain...so we never know...

^ You pretty much just repeated nearly word-for-word what I said two posts above.

As for the spray paint marks on some trees by Log Jammer, it could be something as little as a patio expansion by Chicken Plantation. Others are saying it's for the new train ride. Time will tell.

Dose any one have any pics of these markings. I've seen a lot of Train lines and I might be able to give you an idea if it's even enough room.

Thanks for the pics. Unless they plan on doing allot of work there is no way a train is fighting in there. even a 24in gage would not only need those trees removed but that in tire hill would have to be cut into. more seating is more likely. and you don't have room for a turn so the seating would need to come out for a train.
