What is the Worlds true roller coast?

The question is simple, the answer is detailed. Pretty much I would like to know what is everyone's opinion on what is the true roller coaster capital of the world. But I dont want just a list of parks, I want an explanation on why you think that particular park is the best. I would recommend a top 3-5 list on this. Everyone has their own particular home park, but dont pick your home park simply because its just that. Be fair and realistic and pick a park you truly believe deserves the honors. My picks would be as follows:

1. Cedar Point- They have a nice arsenal of roller coasters that are almost all must rides. Their rides are unique in itself because Cedar Point does not specialize in cloned coasters. They have the country's tallest giga, the second tallest and fastest, an inverter that still receives high reviews, and a stand up that is easily in the top 3 of stand ups. Not only that, but Cedar Point strives to ensure their rides are running as much as possible. For all the times I have been there, it is VERY rare to see a roller coaster not operating. For them to have so many roller coasters in one park, this is outstanding. Some parks with half as many roller coasters are not as reliable.

2. Six Flags Great Adventure- SFGADV also has a nice arsenal of roller coasters which includes the tallest and fastest in the world, the steepest woodie, the tallest B&M hyper, and the first floorless coaster. Although SFGADV does have a few cloned coasters, they all are some pretty stellar rides that you can not pass up. Their rides are also very relaible and rarely have any downtime. Although not as reliable as Cedar Point, they still have a good track record.

3. Both Busch Gardens- Busch Gardens has a nice set of roller coasters that can not be passed up, which includes the tallest inverters, most air time hyper, and two of the tallest dive machines in the world. They dont have a lot of roller coasters, but the ones they do have is worthy of trip after trip to ride them. If BG was to add possibly 3 more coasters each to their parks, they would be a force to be reckoned with.

5. Six Flags Magic Mountain- SFMM has the potential to be a park that can compete with Cedar Point. They have a huge arsenal of roller coasters, but the problem with SFMM is their reliability in their coasters. X: does not run on Wednesdays and is constantly down and can be rough too. Flashback- sat dormant for years before it was dismantled. Deja Vu- rarely is operational. Colossus- only run one side of the coaster. Superman- only run one side, rarely even run that and it does not reach 100MPH anymore, nor does it reach the top of the spike like it used to. Goliath is their true anchor coaster that makes people come back over and over, IMO. I put it at number 5 because it can still be an outstanding park if Six Flags would only put some effort into it. They claim to have a huge amount of roller coasters there, but you will NEVER (yes, mark my word) see all of them running on the same day.

So what does everyone else think? Which park in the World is the true roller coast?

I understood in 2000 the meaning of Cedar Point being a "Mecca" so I was very glad to make my first pilgrimmage. When I heard the term "America's roller coast" I thought "What's that!?!?!?!" It's just not a word I'd think would be made to slang.

Nowadays I see Cedar Point and SFGADV neck to neck with coaster selection and satisfaction. SFGADV has only a handful of cloned coasters. They are top notch rides though.

Well, I'm thinking Cedar Point- it's the only one on the coast.

Couldn't resist typing that- but if they all were on the coast, I would have to say Cedar Point all the way.

I understand what you're saying and basically agree, except Flashback is still quite standing, not operating, but probably will be dismantled in the fall, and possibly put back next year. X isn't that bad. It may be down on Wednesdays (I think) and have the occasional breakdown, but then again it is a prototype and a really advanced one at that, but it's receiving new trains for next year and hopefully that will raise the reliability by a lot. Deja Vu runs better than the other two clones. It operates most of the time, but it has valleyed a few times. So what, it was also a break in technology. Superman still uses both sides, just never at the same time. They alternate every 6 months or so and yes they do not reach the top spike anymore with passengers onboard. Colossus also uses both sides. Usually they'll use one side, and then trade if the other one needs a rehab. They run both sides though during frightfest. One forwards one backwards. Now with Psyclone gone, that may change for even longer operations...but not too much longer as the Psyclone trains weight 5,000 pounds each.

I believe that tecnically means they only run 1 side. This has been my biggest complaint about SF parks and that is they have a tendancy to only run rides at 1/2 capacity...

The thing with Superman though is that it uses a HUGE amount of power. When both sides are launched at the same time it pushes the electrity bill way higher.
Remember that SF is still trying to get out of debt, cutting the unnessarily high energy bills are just a way to help them save some money.

I've not been to any of the parks but since Cedar Point has the most roller coasters of any theme park in the world I would say that it is the true roller coast.
