Hmmmm... what first?

This summer, I'm FINALLY getting to go to Cedar Point. From what Ive heard, the main rides (TTD, Mav, MF) tend to have long lines. Most of the time I can squeeze in a walk-on ride on the big rides if I go early enough, but what should I ride first. What rides tend to have the longest lines?

Also, can't you do or buy something to get into the park 30 minutes before it opens? I plan to stay 2-3 days in one of the Cedar Point resorts. Any hotel reccomendations?

If your staying in one of the resorts you'll be able to get in early for Joe Cools ERT. (side note, are they still calling it that?) Depending on how much money your looking to shell out will pretty much decide your hotel. If your just looking for something cheap with tickets and the perks of getting in early then go for Breaker's Express. If you want something nice and on point, I've always liked Lighthouse point. Its private and has great views of the bay.

As far as rides go, that really depends on what time of the of the year and week you go. If your going on a Saturday in July it won't really matter cause everything will be packed mid day. If your going a week day somewhere before or after the main season, then Maverick would probably be best to hit early. It will still probably pull the biggest line. Seriously though if your going for 2-3 days you should have no problem doing everything you want to do.

It seems for me that the least busy of the weekdays are either Tuesday or Thursday.

Last year, I went on a Friday, and it actually wasn't that bad.

But as Cid said, you definatly want to hit Mav first because it gets pretty packed later in the day.

I'm weird about going to parks. I always save the best rides in the park for last, so the other rides don't seem dumbed down. At CP I always hit raptor first, then head in a counterclockwise circle around the park, finallty ending up at Millenium Force last.

Believe me, its very had to get a walk-on at Cedar Point. I've for the last 3 years been able to get early entry from CP hotels, even the private entrance from Breakers, and have only had one walk-on (going in early June). Maverick even had a long line this year during the hour before the park officially opens.

By all means stay at a CP owned hotel, Breakers Express is fairly cheap, but Breakers has the benefits of being within a 5 minute walk of a private entrance (behind Wicked Twister's back spike) and having a couple restaurants on site. However, Breakers is not cheap.

Personally, I found this format the best during the first hour before the park really opens: MF first (one or two rides), walk back through the nothingness to Skyhawk, then from Skyhawk to TTD where you will wait the final five or so minutes for the park to open in a short line outside its queue. However, Raptor tends to get the longest line of all their rides (excluding Maverick because its new) so one day you may want to hit it very first. Maverick is going to have a long line whenever you go, I, personally, wouldn't waste the first hour in an hour line while all the other rides will have short lines.

I had good luck with Top Thrill Dragster's line, 45 minutes average. Expect about an hour I'd guess.

As for Millennium Force, I always thought that with each new attraction CP got, Millennium Force's line would decrease, nope, it stays the same. 1 hour and 30 minutes, every time.

In 2001 it was an hour and a half. In 2004 it was an hour and a half. And I recall Slipknot saying in 2007 it was an hour and a half.

Really? I always feel Mantis has one of the longest lines cause of its slow capacity. I hate waiting for Mantis cause it feels like your going nowhere. At least with Raptor your always moving through the queue. Really though if its late in the day either one will probably have no more than a 15 minute wait.

I've never seen this question asked or answered, but is it possible to hit all 17 coasters in one day? I doubt it, but I wanna hear it from people that have been there and know the general atmosphere. I'm most likely going there my first time this summer as well and would like to know so if I can't get all the credits in one day, eliminate the worse ones and hit the more unique ones.

Oh its possible . However just be aware that you'll need a kid for Jr Gemini.

And however I really recommend two days to really do everything. Yeah you can probably get on the coaster in one day, but you'll be moving so fast to really enjoy yourself.

Alright, minus the Jr. Gemini. I'm not the much of a credit whore. But I will probably only be limited to one day. I'm also want to fit in flats so I doubt I'll get all the coasters in. Who knows if they'll all even be running when I go. I'm aiming at the last weekend in May, so that's about the second or third weekend open for CP. Nothing is finalized yet, but as the summer approaches, more and more plans will be layed out.

Speaking of Jr. Gemini, I kinda have a funny story about that. A couple years ago, I figured that I would go on Jr. Gemini just for kicks. I'm actually suprised that they let me on, because I was a lot taller than the limit height. Probably thought that I was a brother of one of the little kids. But anyways, the brat next to me on the "coaster" was screaming the whole way through, and I was just kinda relaxing with the somewhat wind in my face. But dude, those bars are REALLY tight on you!

I like the hotel breakers. It not as nice as sand castle suites but I like the location a lot. The beach and pool are great and it's lots closer to the park.

As far as rides go I would recommend MF over Dragster and Maverick. MF is one sweet ride. Maverick I thought was fun but not great not to mention the way CP runs the single riders line is just plain anoying. And believe it or not i don't like TTD that much. I find it to be a "one trick pony". Granted that one trick is really spectacular, it's only one trick.

Honestly i would hot everything but TTD, MF & Maverick. For the first few hours everything else will have little to no wait and then about lonch time head towards the big 3.

You also have a few days so no need to rush. Take your time and enjoy the park. Heck catch a few shows as well.
