Family Kingdom luanches New Site!

^Oops.... Sorry about the title typo,

Myrtle Beach, S.C. — Family Kingdom Amusement Park has launched its new Web site at www.family-kingdom.com. More colorful and user-friendly, the site has been updated with current information for the 2008 season. Visitors can view the park calendar, group sales information and receive exclusive reward coupons for signing up at the site.

Located on Ocean Boulevard in the heart of Myrtle Beach, Family Kingdom is the Grand Strand’s only seaside amusement park. It offers a complete amusement park experience with over 30 rides and attractions, in addition to midway games, family entertainment and traditional park temptations such as funnel cakes, cotton candy and corndogs. Opened in 1966, it is home to the legendary Swamp Fox wooden roller coaster and the largest Ferris wheel in the state of South Carolina.

“Our new Web site makes it easy for vacationers and group leaders to experience what Family Kingdom has to offer,” said Leigh Meese, president of Family Kingdom Amusement Park. “ The site is fun and exciting visually, reflecting the spirit of the parks and, at the same time, presents useful information, including an updated park calendar and group sales information. Photography of each of the attractions shows just how much there is to do at the amusement park and really highlights the water park’s unmatched oceanfront location.”

The Family Kingdom Water Park, located just across Ocean Boulevard from the amusement park, features three serpentine water flumes each with a drop of greater than a 100 feet, two speed slides and two intermediate slides, all with a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean. A Lazy River measuring more than 400 feet meanders around splash pools and beside a waterfall. Splash pools feature two rain trees, a multi-tiered waterfall and eight kiddie slides.

Is it just me, or did the all day ticket go up a lot?

I'm glad I'm in ACE and can get that for $11.

Since I'm not going to Carowinds until C3, I might just have to hit FK in March.

The biggest news for this park in like three years... and its a new website.

Not a good sign for the park.

I hate to say it, but what this park needs a gimmick, a ride that won't be too expensive, but will still make it stick out, and make people want to go to it. With Hard Rock Park coming, they need something to compete with.

I always thought and S&S screamin Squirrel would be a good fit for the park, its a small footprint, not to expensive, and if advertised properly, could bring a lot of people to the park.

I agree. It's time to put in some new attractions like major flats or a small coaster.

From what I hear through our local ACE rep, the park will be adding some stuff in the near future.

They know they will have to keep peoples attention with Hard Rock coming in.

Thats good to hear but the future could be anything from next year to 10 years later. Sadly i have a feeling that once HRP opens Myrtle Beach will loose FK a few years after.

Well I don't know, it's the only real family park left and it's also got a water park as part of the park.

It's kinda like if Geauga Lake had been left alone, I think it would have been just fine.

FK will never be huge, it doesn't have the land to be huge. But it's a nice little place to spend an afternoon.

Good thing they fixed the site... I remember going in 2006 and having such a hard time just finding the park hours.... I found the waterpark hours 1-2-3... But for the rides... Took me forever.

As for ACE getting in for just 11$... I got 2 all day ride passes.... for free (Went down for MBPs last weekend.)

And now that the pavilion is gone, they are the only park that gets to boost the ocean front status. Which is always a plus, especially in a town thats tourist industry has its foundation in the Beach.

The new Site looks pretty good. like the set up.

I'm not surprised that they have been holding off on rides. With hard Rock park coming it I would hold off a bit and save up for new attractions. starting when Hard Rock opens. Add a 50's themed Music express and have an advertisment:
Rock hard on the Music Express
Only at Family Kingdom
SC only sea side Amusement park.

Then add rides every year for a few years then switch to every other year. The park should think of upgrading a couple rides say the Yo Yo for a real flying swings ride. They should buy more land is they can also.

Well I don't know if they will be able to buy more land but they could definitely make more efficient use of the land that they have. I don't think that Family Kingdom will loose that many customers to HRP because they parks are not even in the same league. FK is a good spot to spend the afternoon or night especially in the summer while HRP is probably going to be an all day thing, plus FK has some water-slides. I am glad it finally got a new website, it needed one.
