5 Year Plan

I saw this on another site and thought it would be a good topic here. Not sure how many parks have 5 year plans if any but lets say it's up to you to decide. come up with a 5 year plan for your home or favorite park.

Please post about one park only.

Carowinds

2009
Remove unused parking by TR and expand the park out with a new area highlighted by a 230ft B&M Hyper Coaster & a new restruant. Also move Saturator into the waterpark.

Some new shows also are needed. New show for the theatre. Bring back a show on the paza stage as well as the Boardwalk stage. I liked the idea of a show in the waterpark but it never happened so i would do that. The parks needs a good 3-4 more shows.

2010

A new flats package with atleast 3 major flats. One to go in the new section created in 2009, one flat in the grass area beside Country Kitchen and the third in Saturator's old spot.

2011
Basically general park improvements. start remodeling sections again. The County Fair, Carolina RFD & Thrill Zone need some work. CF & CRFD can be done in one off-season.

2012

Keep general improvements the top priority and update Thrill Zone.
with the addition of a new flat maybe in the unused area around cyclone. Let's also update the waterpark again by adding 2-3 new big slides.

2013
This would be another good year of additions. Maybe a Floorless coaster or some type launched coaster like Hershey's SR or Fahrenheit.

I dug up my old post from 2001 back on CoasterForums when we did this same topic 6 years ago...

2005 - get a 150 Ft+ sky coaster by the yankee cannonball in the parking lot get 5 more flat rides and have 2 be for kids but all made by KMG put them all over the park not just in one place and add some more trees and gardens and re paint all the rides that need to be re painted and add some stuff to the "old boston" part of the park and get corkers train back to black in yellow and not red

2006 - buy ALL THE RIDES FROM WHALOM! fix them up and re paint them put flyer comet next to the log ride by tall timber splash and just put the flat rides in the back of the park by the skyride turn around next to the lake but put the spider ride inside a "box" and add stuff to it like lights and fog. Fix up the old boat so it can be back in the lake and re-do the pool making it bigger and better and add a small beach to the water front for swimming and add more track to the train so it gets to more places in the park

2007 - get 2 coasters 1 steel and 1 wood have one of them be for kids have the steel one by the whalom rides next to the lake and make it a sitdown with about 3 loops and have a drop of about 80Ft and for kid wood coaster put it in the "Ye old Canobie" part of the park make it like but not the same as ParaPark kiddie wood coasters and then add an on ride photo spot to all the big coasters and to the S&S tower.

Its funny cause some of the stuff I said I wanted to have happen.. Did.

Canobie did get a frog hopper... Canobie did add Flying Swings... Canobie did add more food area... Canobie did give the Mall a makeover... Canobie did put an onride photo onto the logflume.. Canobie did add a new swimming area/ water ride.. And Canobie did add a Huss ride (although it was a Frisbee and not a Topspin)... They also repaced "the old boat" I posted about... With a new boat.

A much needed water park improvement: A couple new slides (boomerang, tornado, master blaster would be nice additions), new restaurant, more seating, a flow rider or two.
Re-paint the rides and coasters that need it.
1 or 2 new rides for the kiddies, especially in Zoom Zone.
Change the uniform again...I've seen what the employees this year have to wear, and my heart goes out to them.

2010
Remove the old sea lion stadium in the kid's area and add a whole new area with a signature kiddie coaster and kiddie rides.
New flat ride, gonna say a screaming swing since those seem to be the new "in ride" for parks to have.
Another sit down full meal restaurant. Right now the park has marketplace, Coasters, and Backlot; they can use more options like Cedar Point. Canada's Wonderland usually beats out Cedar Point in terms of attendance and more dining options would be nice.
Re-track Wild Beast or Mine Buster.
New ice skating show in Paramount Theater (or whatever it's called now)
The unfortunate re-naming and branding of Hannah Barbera Land

2011
An on site indoor water park hotel. There's a nice sized plot of land across Major Mackenzie that would be perfect. The only competition in the area is Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls, and a hotel could do wonders for the park. Again, being one of the top 3 attended parks in the chain, it would be a nice way to keep people at the park for more than one day.
More capital improvements.
Re-track the large wooden coaster that didn't get re-tracked last season.
New coaster: Maverick/Fahrenheit style Intamin coaster.

2012
Water park improvements, a second wave pool maybe, new slide complex (how about Thunder Falls from Geauga Lake's Wild Water Kingdom? We all know it's not going to last)

2013
General improvements to the park.
2 or 3 more kiddie rides split among the kids areas.
Another new full service restaurant.

I know, It's more of a desprate wish list. I could see alot of that happening in the next 5 years. Some of that better happen in the next 5 years if they want to keep attendance up.

So let me get this straight...

In 5 years you want Carrowinds to build a 230 ft. B&M Hyper, 2-3 Flat Rides, 2-3 Water Slides, all the meanwhile improving the park overall and adding shows?

Six Flags Magic Mountain:

2009 - Build off of X2's success, close, and refurbish Revolution. New trains, tree-trimming. Remove Superman: The Escape.

2010 - Add a Giant Frisbee where S:TE was, new restaurant, retrack, paint Colossus. Retheme Scream!.

2011 - Repaint Riddler, Batman, and begin resort construction.

2012 - Continue resort, add some new flats. Add some nice restaurants (Johnny Rocket's?)

2013 - Clean up the park- add a new transportation ride.

2008
A new... wait... Oh. Crap.

Uh... Kemah Boardwalk!

2008: Add to Boardwalk Bullet with a steel coaster, similar to Santa Cruz' West Coaster, or something like it.

2009: Expand into the ocean and have a floating island dedicated as a floating restaurant/meeting place that can do short 5-10 hour cruises into the Gulf.

2010: Purchase the adjacent 8 blocks of houses, knock them down, and expand into the areas with more restaurants, attractions, rides, a House of Blues at Kemah.

2011: In the expanded area install a ride similar to X-Scream in Las Vegas, that puts you out over the Bay area, as well as another ride like Insanity that brings you out over the bay and spins you... though that ride doesn't really sound as exciting as being thousands of feet above the Vegas strip. Hmm.

2012: Install and open an IMAX theatre as well as a Ride-Film attraction. I'm running out of ideas, and Kemah Boardwalk is a land-locked place...

None of these ideas are to be taken seriously. Just some whim thoughts that seem interesting.

WoF: GCI Twister in Scandinavia (using Orient Express' old lot), general improvements to park.
OoF: Pro-Slide Tornado, general improvements to park.
2010
WoF: S&S Screamin' Swing in Scandinavia, replace Skyliner with GLP's Americana, remodel Europa.
OoF: Combine with Worlds of Fun (this is beneficial in more than one way - for starters, it's the only way OoF will be able to compete with Schlitterbahn and it would allow for a "2 parks in 1" campaign).
2011
WoF: Remodel Scandinavia, themed Zamperla Rockin' Tug for Camp Snoopy, new Haunt.
OoF: General park improvements.
2012
WoF: Speed Monster-size Intamin Accelerator in Africa (using Zambezi Zinger's old lot), general park improvements
OoF: General park improvements.
2013
WoF: Moser Sidewinder for Europa, remodel Orient.
OoF: Expansion.

That would be ideal.

*SLAP* Ok i think i'm awake now but still Carowinds has done twice that from 1999-2004. so don't say it can't be done cause it has before and alot more things happened between 1999-2004 than i listed.

I guess Paramount was the real deal if they can do alot more in 5 years than Cedar Fair can.

It's also more of a wish list of what could & needs to happen in the next 5 years. It's Just an opinion.

Ok, since his was a tad unrealistic.
2009-Remodel Thrill Zone, retrack portions of all woodie. Add a new flat to Thrill Zone.
2010-Remove Nicktoons, replace with generic themes. Add 2 new family rides.
2011-New launch coaster
2012-Remodel North Gate to an amusement park feel, move Carousel to main plaza. Turn old building into Baby Care Center, tear old one down. Add a Crazy Bus to Kiddyland.

Loseing Nickelodeon would hurt the parks attendance & profit so thats not going to happen.

Why does everyone think that removing the Nicktoons would hurt the park, no one takes their child to an amusement park just for that reason. Carowinds is an regional amusement park. Carowinds is the ONLY major amusement park in the piedmont area of NC, and middle SC. I dare to say, only major park in NC/SC but then everyone would being up Hard Rock Park, which it isn't open yet to see how it will do. Remember Disney has struggled before, so has Carowinds, Six Flags, Cedar Point, just about everyone. It isn't always what is good for the park anyways, normally, it is what is good for the budget/company.

2008: Decide on a name for Top Gun.
