| | | Ah yes, but if it is a hot day, Carowinds has Boomerang Bay, a nice place to cool off from the heat, where as Dollywoods Splash Country is a separate ticket/park. Charlotte has some other neat stuff to do the as Pigeon Forge is a tourist trap. .. It really depends on what else you might do besides the parks.

| | | Yeah, I couldn't figure out what that meant to save my life. Pigeon Forge definitely is a tourist trap, I'll agree. But if you want cheap helicopter rides and a chance to see the world's largest "As Seen On TV" store, Pigeon Forge is for you.

| | | Go to Dollywood. Dollywood is one of my favorite parks: They have amazing food and employees. Thunderhead(my #2 wood) is just awesome. Mystery Mine is really fun. Tennessee Tornado is s good ride, better than Carowinds 2nd best. Great theming. They have more unique and better water rides like Splash Battle, Daredevil Falls, Rapids Ride, and Slidewinder(water?). More shade too.
Carowinds is just like any other Cedar Fair or Six Flags park. 1 good/great coaster. 8+ mediocre coasters. No shade. Bad Food.

It's like if I mentioned crossing the BR Bridge to get to Philly everyday or having a Wawa's sub. The majority of folks on here would have no clue what I'm talking about, except for maybe ChillerC1. Unless it's a popular acronym or something, you really need to explain or spell it out.

Even if Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg is a tourist trap there is a lot of fun stuff around it like the indoor skydiving, Ripley's Aquarium, or all those thrill rides along the parkway, plus you've got the Great Smoky Mountains National Park nearby. |

| | | ^^ Absolutely not true. If you plan your trip around a hot concert, Time Warner Cable and Verizon are always an option. Also, don't forget SouthPark as well as Concord Mills. Don't leave out Discovery Place and the Mint Museum. Any big name steak house or fine dining restaruants are all over the place in Charlotte. And hey, if you wanna come to Carowinds in 2009 the NASCAR Hall of Fame will be done then as well. Finally, all our bars like Buckhead and MANY more and clubs like BAR Charlotte and MANY more will satisfy a day after Carowinds. Charlotte is on the rise buddy, theres plenty more to do although it may not be as flashy as a tourist trap, it's a diamond in the rough. |

| | I recommend dollywood. You will have the choice of different types of rides. Including their latest coaster.....Mystery Mine. Which has a 85ft 95 degree vertical drop....plus two vertical lifts, and a heartline roll into a rollover loop(or half loop). You also have many other ride choices such as..... Water Rides
Daredevil Falls- The U.S.A's tallest water ride.
Mountain slide Winder
River Battle- new 2008!
The Smokey Mountain River Rampage Thrill Rides Timber Tower
Dizzy Disk
Sky Rider
....and many more in the country fair area. Coasters Thunderhead- twice voted as Best Wooded Coaster
Tennessee Tornado- The US's last and greatest...not to mention tallest Arrow Looper.
Mystery Mine- Dollywoods Latest Coaster, Which offers a highly themed adventure through an old abandoned mysterious coal mine. For more info on this coaster, go to http://www.mysterymine.com
Blazing Fury- An indoor rollercoaster where you travel through an 1800's burning town. And you are the only way to put it out with.....Water....and Lots of it.
For more info on Dollywood, just go to http://www.Dollywood.com |

Now that Steel Phantom is gone, Viper at SFMM is Arrow's tallest looper. And I would hardly classify a coaster built in 1999 as "latest and greatest". It's a good coaster, but hardly the latest.

| | | ^^ I dunno, you could say it was the LAST Arrow looper, and has the TALLEST Arrow loop (not a cookie cutter extended on supports like Viper's).
And considering Arrow is gone now, it is the latest... I am sure that is what he meant, it was Arrow's last major work in the looper department, the likes of which we sadly will never see again.
I say sadly because Arrow really had gotten its work together, which showed in the Tornado. Heartlining, overbanking, the 'spiro-loop', and great tracking make it incredibly smooth for an Arrow coaster. Of course, it is a bit short, but boy, take it from me, she packs a punch in that 1:48.... ride in the back seat at about 4-5PM during the height of the afternoon heat, and prepare for some major G's... (even some airtime)
