Kings Dominion general discussion

Hey guys
I went to KD this past Tuesday. I noticed all the staff were really nice and enthusiastic. A big difference from Carowinds. Anyone know why they have started saying "ride on" while exiting the coasters. They say it on all the rides, which I think it pretty cool. But it must not be a Cedar fair thing b/c their not doing it at Carowinds.

^ It is a Cedar Fair thing, it's a marketing scheme for select parks. Carowinds' marketing scheme is 'Where Else?' instead of 'Ride On'. But anyway, I really need to get back up to KD to ride Dominator.

I saw a Dorney commercial themed to teens which is new to me. It was something like "Ride On." If I could get to Dorney for my "Goodbye Laser" tour visit I'll watch for that.

That's what it was. One specifically for that group from Dorney is new for me. They also had one for the family that seemed close to the one for Cedar Point.

Yeah some of them used the "warriors" too. On shockwave, lol it was so corny before they sent the train out they would call us the "shockwave warriors".

BTW Grizzley is absolulty insane at night. It was so awesome especially coming to the first drop, you cant see anything but woods. Dominator was pretty neat at night too.

It's part of the marketing campaign for Dominator(a great ride BTW) & while a few ride crews were using the slogan on my trip last weekend the Dominator crew was using it the most.

It looks like the rumors about more rides coming to the park from GL in 09 are coming to pass,the Americana gondola's & the ride platform from El Dorado are now on site at the park along with parts from the spider....of course the big rumor still concerns a possible hyper for 2010 but we'll deal with that later.

At least they won't be saying "Welcome to Kings Dominion, America's Roller Coast!!!" I despise that. It was cool in 1989, not so much now.

El Dorado is pretty high. The big car will look great next to the diner. Let's help erase that one trick pony coaster.

So it looks like all 3 flats are on-site now or so i hear. I'm sure they will fill the Hypersonic site nicely.

Hypersonic is gone but the station is still there. There is a wood fence surrounding the area right now.

Anyone know how tall Americana is? I've seen pics of it on GLT & it looked pretty large but obviously never saw it in person.It'll definitely stand out quite nicely along KD's skyline though.

The dbase lists it at 120ft, by comparison Giant Wheel at CP is 150ft. It definetly seemed a bit smaller than Giant Wheel.
Americana (Geauga Lake) :: ThrillNetwork.com

I love Ferris Wheels (the big ones like that, that don't rock so much) so I'm glad they are saving it. I had hoped they would send it to Carowinds though.
