| Six Flags Lodging
In a news article when Shapiro was at the Great Escape property he mentioned that 2009 would bring a big coaster. However he also stated "The Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark, located across Route 9 from the outdoor amusement park, is a blueprint for what Shapiro said he'd like to do in the future. The indoor water park is the only one of its kind within the Six Flags family", he said. http://www.poststar.com/articles/2008/0 ... 728357.txt So this forum will be speculation on everyones opinion on what Six Flags Park could add Hotels Next. Here's The Listing off all the Properties Six Flags Over Texas Six Flags Over Georgia Six Flags St. Louis Six Flags Great Adventure Six Flags Magic Mountain Six Flags Great America Six Flags America Six Flags Fiesta Texas Great Escape Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom Six Flags New England Six Flags Mexico La Ronde Personally I can see: - Six Flags St. Louis getting something Similar to The Great Escapes Lodge & Indoor Waterpark - And Six Flags Great Adventure getting something similar to Walt Disney World Hotels |

I don't see any of that happening soon. Not with their debt and this big lawsuit they are about to get hit with. Personally i see them selling off a few parks before building Disney-like hotels or indoor waterparks.

I was really upset when TGE got the hotel... There are at least 5 other hotels within a 2 minute walk of the park!... Great Adventure has NOTHING within 20 miles! A hotel in Gadvs parking lot would have been an amazing investment for the park.... But no.. They gave it to TGE. |

Six Flags Over Texas already has a handful of properties within walking distance and over a dozen more properties within a couple of minutes drive down I-30. In fact there are two hotels located right next to Judge Roy Scream and Flashback right outside the park bounds; it might be great for park visitors to stay, but the noise might not be good for those that just want to sleep during the day. Most of these properties also offer some sort of shuttle service to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, which is located four miles north of the park, so park guests flying into that airport might take advantage of that. Arlington is one of the fastest growing cities in Texas and already the 7th largest city in the state so there will probably be more development with SFOT being the geographic center of the city. Also with the Texas Rangers' Ball Park, Hurricane Harbor, Six Flags Mall, and the new Dallas Cowboys stadium (still being constructed), all right there next to the park. That city just going to draw in so many more people. The nearest hotels to Six Flags Fiesta Texas are quite a drive away -- nothing within walking distance. I can't for some reason see Six Flags getting into the hotel business; just independent or franchised hotels being built.

I suspect that if Six Flags does get into the hotel business, they will hire an management company that actually knows hotels to get them set up. It is a common practice in business.

Like Marriott Hotels? Btw, Six Flags has built their own Hotels before - 1998: Lodge at the Lake at Darien Lake - 2006: Great Escape Lodge at The Great Escape Also, Great Adventure was rumored to build one in 2007 |

I've been inside TGEs hotel a few time to just check it out. The price is way too high for me (as well as the forced 2 nights stay...) But I have stayed at Dariens hotel... its kinda dumpy, but the ability to walk over to the park (and also see coasters from your room) makes up for it. And once more.. Lack of other hotels within a short drive.... I dont think they have anything else within 20-30mins (Much like how Great Adventure still is) |

SGOG has ghettoville down the street, nothing more. I'd love for them to rip down all those motels across the interstate and build a resort there. At $15 for parking, I'd rather just walk to the park. Some people are ok with the Wingate and one of the others up the other street, but I refuse to stay there.

Last time i went to SFoG i stayed in a hotel about 4-5 exits away. I refuse to stay in any of the motels that are across the park. Honestly some of the grosses motels ever and not really in a good area but then again neither is the park.

The thing that is sad about SFOG is that the city of Atlanta and whatever township it's actually in, are doing nothing about the park. They should be trying to encourage growth around the park, and making it a nice, safe area. Not the hood like it is now. The strangest thing is that if you go one exit west on I-20, it's a nice area. I stay at the Fairfield on that exit and never have problems.
