Star Trek: The Experience closing?

I didn't know this park was closing! Does anyone have any info as to why Cedar Fair is closing this park/experience?

Star Trek: The Experience closing down - CNN.com

And no I am not a trekkie. Just curious as to why it was closing.

According to the article, they couldn't agree to terms for a new lease.

Las Vegas Hilton owned it with everything being licensed from CBS/Paramount and Cedar Fair managing it. It was due to declining sales and contracts that have either been up or have been coming up, and it was a case where none of them wished to renew. The changing economic conditions, along with rising admission prices and a lack of improvements, combined to do it in.

Props and artifacts will be returned to CBS, but it is not totally known what will happen to the sets.

Really though, they've beat that era (the TNG/DS9/Voyager era) to death, and I am looking forward to when the new movie comes out in April.

I didn't go see it in Vegas but did all the other area attractions. When Cedar Fair got a hold of the Paramount parks I didn't think this was going to last after Borgie's been stripped to become Nighthawk. Newsplusnotes featured pics of the experience. I've never seen it so the pics were helpful.

While I am not surprised to see this happening, I'm a bit disappointed. While the attraction by itself is 10 years old the Bord 4D attraction is only 3-4 years old. I would have liked to checkout this attraction but have been unable to make it as far west as Nevada.

CHILLER: It wasn't solely the decision of Cedar Fair. Most of it has been between Hilton and CBS. If they wanted to continue it without Cedar Fair, they could've dumped them and went with someone else (think Camp Snoopy).

$50 per person, with very few discounts (if any) available. For two rides.

???

They have half-priced tickets at the ticket booth inside the M&M store (beside the MGM) everyday. Not to mention the coupons for $5 to $10 off you can get in the backseat of any cab.

I did this attraction and thought it was great! The part where they “beam you up” is just amazing. One second you are in a hallway, then there’s a flash of light, and the next thing you know, you are on the bridge of the Enterprise. It was worth doing for that experience alone. Having done it once however, I don’t see much of a reason to do it again.

Moot point anyway. Half price is/was still kind of steep for two rides. You could see an Anthony Cools show for that.
