Has anyone here won anything from the "Year of a Million Dreams" contest going on at Disney Parks? 1 million prizes given away at random to people who are "in the right place at the right time"

I won something when at Animal Kingdom getting off the Safari on Tuesday and just wanted to know if any other TN members have won anything, and what.

I technically "won" a lanyard getting off Maelstrom at Norway, but I couldn't accept it because I was a Cast Member.

Nope. Only because i'm a cast member and could not win anything.

I did get a hold of the ears and the pins/lanyard on Ebay though.

I know someone (through the internet, but still ) that won the stay in Cinderella's Castle. I was only at Epcot for a few hours (we did DiveQuest) so I didn't win anything.

I'm kind of sad that the YOMD promotion is coming to an end before I'll get to visit. Next year's promotion (free admission on your birthday) doesn't do me a lot of good ... my husband's b-day is 2 days before Christmas and mine is in the middle of June, both of which are very busy times. If we visit, it'll be in January or early November when the crowds are small (but I can still go diving in the middle of winter down there!)

My cast member friend gave me a bunch of tips that could help me win, but I still didn't.
Stuff like the people giving away prizes early in the morning (which I saw at every park) near the popular rides.
He also said while the prizes were supposed to be random the people that won the big prizes (nights in the Castle or Dream Suite, trip to all the parks, etc) were the typical family of mom, dad, son, daughter.

Their deal/promotion for next year is amazing though. Buy 4 nights, get 3 free. I looked up a package for my reading week and can go for 7 days, get all my tickets, round trip flight, and all taxes for $400. Can't beat that.

It was ballin'.. And so were all the perks that came with it!

lol. You weren't the only one. Everywhere I went.. the tour guides would shout it out to everyone that I had won.... And all I ever wanted to do was see the Hippos at DAK.

Also - I was not with a family. I was with 3 other amusement park fans. The prize is indeed random. They dont just walk up to you and say you won. You have to "be in the right spot at the right time" - So in my case it was "who ever gets off the 3 row, left hand seat of the Safari ride at the time I was getting off it.." Won.

Edit - It also came with 2 meals.. Photo ops, 2 dream dolls, the "i won" pin, and we each got the dream ears.

I think Safari was used alot to pick the winners to stay in the Castle.

I personally remeber the castle suite was awarded 4 times while i workd at Safari. I guess 5 with you now.

Maybe the trick is to ride Safari all day long

I do know it's almost impossible to beat the system. They always look for like a specific safari truck # and then the family in row 5 may win and 3 weeks later it's a different truck and a different row.

James, after the kind of drive through the night you had risking your life, I guess you deserved a big comfy bed like that. I just don't think I could wear the Mickey ears though. It would be like burning my head if a New York Yankees/Dallas Cowboys hat was placed on my head.

lol. They made me use them for the photos and such. But after the first hour I was able to take them off.

Yeah, the prizes are completely random. The person I know who won it, it was actually her parents that won it and they invited her and her kids to stay. Her parents were getting off the Dumbo ride, I believe, and it was like "the person who walks through the exit gate at exactly this time."

They also don't jump out and go "you won!" because they actually tell you that you MAY have won and then whisk you off to someplace to do the paperwork .. they have to clear that you're eligible to win - US citizen, not an employee of Disney, etc.

Yeah. They kept saying you may have won... But after I filled out all the paper work they were all "you'll be picked up from your hotel at 4"
